This one is really small. I could not find anything I wanted to buy. They have just basic things. There are many staffs but nobody at the cosmetic area. It was not crowded when I went there around 17:30. You can not imagine the exchange like Fort Belvoir. This is much much smaller.

This place has made great improvements since being renovated less than two years ago. Back then I would have given it one and a half stats but it gets two and a half, but not quite three. Good selection of electronics at good prices, lots of name brand clothes to choose from, and there’s a military clothing and sales store inside the PX, in addition to a small food court in this place. Employee assistance is hit and miss, but that’s not uncommon for AAFES stores.

Easy to find It’s small and doesn’t really carry anything unique but the staff try to be helpful and friendly. Ample parking but if you’re in a rush, don’t try and park towards the front. If I recall there’s only a Subway there, a ton of tables and a t.v. The military clothing and sales is located in the back along with the tailor shop which apparently serves the Chief of Staff, CJCS and I ran into the CSM of the Army while I was dropping off my ACUs, who was very polite and cordial towards me.

Fort Myer Exchange is your basic exchange, with some great deals. While it is not as high-end as Henderson Hall, I use it for toiletries that I can’t get at the commissary and liquor. It’s pretty small, but there is a food court, bank, GNC, and maybe a barber. I also appreciate the few aisles of mass-market cosmetics.

This place is tiny and doesn’t have the essentials. Really more of a clothes store. Where’s the electronics and other home goods?

So, I’ve been shopping at this PX for literally my ENTIRE life and then some, probably before I was even born. The prices will always shock you if all you are used to is non-military retailers. Since I’ve been shopping here forever, of course they don’t shock me. A good example, the same Levi jeans I wear are usually $ 50, here they are $ 28 for the EXACT same model. These great prices carry over to pretty much everything else in the store. The store is always clean, and well laid out. In spring time, the outdoor section always has really nice plants, flowers, and other gardening essentials on display. Around the holidays, they usually have fresh cut Christmas trees for sale as well. Their electronics section has a wide variety, and prices are good here as well. The employees are always friendly and willing to help. As Louis B. points out, no the buildings are not all incorporated into eachother. In all honesty, I don’t like that anyway and I am very glad that they are separate. Both the commissary and the package store are within walking distance. I strongly disagree with Louis on how far away the Shopette is though. If you walk out of the PX and look to the left, you can see it right there. It isn’t even a block and takes literally a minute to walk to so it really isn’t a big deal at all, definitely not a big enough of a deal to rant on about. If you are in the military, or you are able to shop here, you should. It is tax free, and it is MUCH better than Walmart or any other retailer. Another bonus is Anthony’s pizza which is inside of this PX as well!

Ft Myer Post Exchange is not as consolidated as Bolling AFB or Ft Belvoir. Its physical facility is sprawled over many stores, a concept which is now way dated and wasteful of resources. It is impossible to walk the entire complex — a car is unfortunately needed. With a new, more sensible and smarter DoD policy on military facility construction, I hope that a sustainable Post Exchange gets built someday. Having said that, the main facility has just about every immediate need for a family — except food, of course, that’s what the Commissary is for; liquor, which is located two long blocks away at the Shopette, and car accessories, also two blocks away. The PX carries both budget and upscale clothing selections at prices way below the market, an entire household cleaning section, and a home and garden section. Overall, it is a very good facility, its management having to make up for the design shortmindedness of military base designers of years ago.
