This is the worst place I have ever stayed… The front desk people are the most rudest people. Any questions you had they answered very rude, had to call and demand them to clean our room. The room service was so rude as well, asking for tip. This is suppose to be a resort ?? No room service, no restaurants, no gift shops. I wish I would of known this before I booked this trip ! I highly do not recommend anyone to stay here !!’

It felt as if Cleaning staff not really wants to come and clean your room. They would ask us on a daily basis if we wanted service which we had to tell her yes. Her body language seemed as she wasn’t very happy that we said yes. Needles to say sometimes she never showed up to clean our room. Front office staff and maintenance staff was very attentive to our needs though and was willing to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms are a bit dated and beds are hard but has a beautiful view of the gulf. Cleanliness was a concern at times especially with kitchen and cups, plates, utensils, and pots/​pans. Came with a big group and so that was deciding factor why we stayed otherwise probably would have tried to stay at a nicer place.

I loved staying at the Sandpiper Gulf Resort. If you have a big family, this a great option.
PROs: They have an adults only pool and children’s pool. The staff was always willing to indulge our requests. The jet ski tours give Sandpiper residents a discount for their dolphin tours, among other things. It is close to the local grocery store if you need to pick up some items. They also recently renovated. They have games like shuffleboard and corn hole you can reserve.
CONs: There are not too many restaurants near the Sandpiper so the grocery store is your best bet. The grocery can get pricey. Also, the parking here can be a bit of a nightmare. One night I parked in the handicap spot because that is all they had left. They claim to have free wi-​fi but it was such a weak signal the whole time. I eventually gave up on trying to use it. Do I really need it? No, I should be on the beach anyway.
Did I see a snake by the pool? You bet I did. Oh well, Florida animals!

The hotel looks exactly like the pictures show. It is very nice and has beautiful views. You will not get better access to the beach. Yeah the beds are a little hard, the wifi is really slow and the a/​c is a little loud. The amenities totally outweigh these flaws.
We would absolutely stay here again BUT, I will be sure to book an oceanfront view room. I booked a poolside view room and they are nice, but we got put in a courtyard view room the first night and the views do not compare. The rooms were clean, the pools were fantastic (esp. The adult pool) and there is a grocery store close by. There are no restaurants or bars within close walking distance. They have two areas with multiple gas grills that make grilling out easy and the rooms have a nice kitchenette with a nice fridge, stove and microwave. I would recommend this hotel. It has a nice laid back atmosphere.

We chose this place based on all the great reviews. I must say if this is the quality of resort that you are used to for that price you have not stayed at a real resort. The rooms are out dated and the beds are old and uncomfortable hard as a rock. the carpet has seen much better days. free high speed wireless internet only if you leave your room and go sit in the office. None available in our room, There was a wonderful beach front view and easy access to the beach if that is all you are looking for. The second night there was a rat in the pool we asked for a refund and left the staff was very apologetic and granted our request.

After escaping from Orlando, my husband whined about the drive to ft myers. People asked why ft myers? Hey folks, its ft myers, gulf coast, and Beautiful beaches! Anyhow, this place was beautiful. We had partial ocean view, porch, kitchenette, what a wonderful place, right on the beach. Rent chairs and an umbrella for 13.00’a day and you’re set.
Can’t wait to go back. Close to the topps market if you want food, close to everything else if you want someone else to cook.

Electronic wrist keys are nice. Room was clean, bed was hard, kitchen and dishes and full sized fridge was nice. Ocean view was great and the adult pool was fantastic. Tub was clogged (but unclogged it ourselves with the plunger) and AC was SUPER noisy. It was nice to be away from the craziness of «Times Square» and the front desk staff was superb. Publix is half a mile towards town. Will definitely stay here again

We have stayed here every year for the last 8 years. It is a beautiful little hotel, now recently associated with the Pink Shell Resort. We have always enjoyed our stays given that the beach is truly one of the best on the Gulf. I can also say that the new management has been nothing less than excellent. Bonnie and Angel have been exceptionally helpful and accommodating which to my wife and myself is a large factor when it comes to the overall experience if a hotel. We have been very pleased.

My family and I have been a part of the Sandpiper family for almost 14 years. Every August, we made the annual trip to the Sandpiper. We’ve stayed in every type of room available — ocean view, pool view & patio view — and all have been very comfortable. The décor is a little dated but if you can look past that, you should have no problem. The rooms also come equipped with a kitchenette and there is a Publix a couple of blocks away where you can stock up on all you need. There are 2 pools (one for everyone and an «adult only» pool), a jacuzzi and the ocean is a few feet away.
The location is great as well — close to all the attractions and restaurants. This is a family friendly hotel with a very friendly staff and I seriously recommend you consider this hotel for your next Ft Myers Beach vacation.
