«Closed for the Summer»? Seriously?! At least update your website so people don’t waste their time driving out here. Very unprofessional.

This is kind of a hole in the wall, but more on the upscale side place. They have these neat fish aquariums that line the back wall that are cool to look at while you eat. I had the seafood platter which consisted of fried grouper nuggets, fried oysters, fried shrimp, conch fritters and a crab cakes with aoili. They have a signature side dish of spinach and onions that was totally bland but overall my meal was pretty decent, comparable to what you might get at Red Lobster. It was pretty pricey. My husband got the steak and lobster and the total bill was over $ 100. Not sure I would go again due to the price for what you get but it was a nice one time experience.

This was my first trip to the«Fish Monger». And I agree with Elizabeth Y that the exterior belies how great the food is. To begin, Candy was our server and she was great, knew everything inside out, top to bottom, fruit to nuts… you ask and she answers. And she was so upbeat and friendly. Then the meal-Florida Crab Cake appetizer, Citrus Grouper with twice bake potato… all so outstanding. The crab cake was perfect-moist on the inside-beautifully seared on the outside, seasoned just right and accompanied with a fabulous Cajun aioli sauce(if they bring tartar sauce ask for the aioli-it’s spicy and adds a wonderful kick). The grouper was broiled to perfection. and then drizzled with a tangy key lime sauce. I’d come back to try more of the menu. It is so good.

Excellent! I was visiting my uncle in Ft Myers and he had never been to Fish Monger, but wanted to give a new local place a try. Not much to look at from the outside, but the food was fresh and delicious. The owner was behind the bar interacting with customers, and he explained that they have their own fish boats so all of the fish are caught same day. I had the citrus grouper and it was yummy. Twice baked potato was excellent. We sat at the bar so unsure of the dining room experience, but looked nice and good for families. Everyone was very nice. Fish dip for appetizer was very good.

Best Fresh Fish in town, possibly best in the entire state. The Fish monger has a wide selection of fresh fish that is caught daily and brought into port that is just 200yds away from the restaurant. The owners are the most hospitable and the crowd is local. We highly recommend stopping in on your way in or out of ft. Myers beach. AWESOME!

A great place for seafood. Wife had three 3 nut grouper which was great. Flavor, texture, freshness, and quantity were all the best. Side dishes also just right– double stuffed potato, spinach, and Cole slaw. Friend also had the 3 nut grouper and loved it. Double stuffed potato and spinach rounded it out. Only negative was Caesar salad, not quit fresh. I had the pasta and clams with white sauce. Very tasty. Sides were spinach and tossed salad. All were good. We’ve been there before(a year ago) and will definitely return. We’re from out of town visiting a friend. Service was very good and friendly even though we stayed to the 9PM closing time. Wine was reasonably priced and OK. Like others have said, can’t figure why there isn’t a long line waiting to get in. We did arrive 7PM+. Price OK for what we had.

We’ve been coming here for thirty years, only disappointed once. Love the tile fish if they have it, otherwise the hog fish is great too.

HOLYCOW! Why is this not packed every night of the week! The food is AMAZING!!! We ate there 2 nights of our 4 night vacation, yeah that is how much we liked it… Candy was our server the first night and we loved her, she is very knowledgable about the menu and had lots of great recommendations… Dave was our server the last night we had met him from the first night as the host and was also very helpful with the menu. We met both the chef and the owner and they are both darling as well. We had the yellow edge grouper, red snapper, pompano with prawns, crab cakes and the shrimp cocktail between the two nights and not one thing was less than spectacular. With an entrée you get a salad with homemade dressing, bread, your fish either rice or potato, and a veggie. The place doesn’t look like much but look past the façade, the food it why you are there. They have their own fishing boats where they bring in fresh fish everyday. And believe me you can taste the freshness… Head there the next time you wanna have fresh seafood. We have told everyone we have ran into while running around to go there.

Just got back after Thanksgiving and wanted fish. A friend had recommended this place so we tried it. Great recommendation. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. My wife had 3 nut grouper. She loved it and it was too much to eat. I had the fried combo platter with a twice baked potato. Lightly fried, very tasty and a lot of food. Happy hour goes until 7 so we had a couple of drinks. They were small but good. Very friendly and attentive staff. My only complaint is the parking lot had giant puddles from a raining day. We will go again. The waitress told us they do Sunday football with all the games and Happy Hour. I’ll try that next week.

Freshest fish ever. I had the pompano fish with shrimp it was delicious. It was great to have a different fish than the usual suspects. My husband had the surf and turf. He modified the lobster for the coconut shrimp and they were happy to oblige. We went two nights in a row. Our servers were Candy and Karen both delightful. If you want good service and food you can’t lose with The Fish Monger. We’ll be back!

We only ate here once, but the food was excellent. Everything was fresh and seasoned well. The only downfall was that the place felt very dated. Would definitely go back again.

Amazing, fresh fish with the 3 nut topping. For the amount of food that comes with your meal, and the quality, this is a must go to while in Fort Myers. The waitstaff are so friendly and gave great advice as for our choices. We are heading back for a 2nd visit in 4 days. Get there before 7 pm for Happy Hour $ 2 glass of wine $ 1.50 for beer.

TRUELYFRESHFISHCOOKEDTOPERFECTIONWITHIMPECABLESERVICE There are a lot of restaraunts on the Gulf Coast of Florida that will tell you their fish is fresh, and for many of them, that means fresh from the back of the Cisco restaraunt wholesaler truck. In fact, in the last two weeks we ate at restaraunts from Bradenton to Ft Myers and I could not find a decent piece of fish… that is until we ate at Fish Mongers. First, I had the grouper corn chowder and it was amazing. The broth is actually made from fish stock(as in boiling fish heads, the way it’s supposed to be made, and not just a blob of milk and flour). The flavor was outstanding. Get the bowl. Then I had a piece of fish, cooked to perfection and season properly that was top shelf. Up until today, every piece of fish I had down hear was overcooked. Thank you to the Chef at Fish Monger for restoring my faith in Florida fresh fish. And finally, a gentleman named Carlos waited on our table of seven and was the consummate professional in every way. He was prompt, attentave, knowlagable and made great recomendations. Ask for him when you get there and tip him appropriatly. Now for the kicker. As we left the restaraunt, we were walking around the back of the building to get our car, and we had the oppertunity to meet the owner, who was standing out back, cleaning fish, right off the boat. So, if you want truly fresh fish, go to the Fish Mongers. You will not be disappointed. Steve Snyder Harrisburg, PA
