We came in as they were closing. They stayed late for us. The service was great and the food was excellent. The best food I’ve had in a long time.

Respectfully sir, I think you have me confused. There was no table or options offered. I would have certainly mentioned that. You may be thinking of another party, but the lady that greeted us made no such offer. My rating is based on the facts and my personal experience.

Wow, Chef Josef Zimmermann knows about food. There are so many restaurants but this one at the top of my list. If you have not been here you are missing a great gem in Fort Myers. For Lunch or Dinner is Amazing. I have done lunch for business purpose and my prospects have enjoyed tremendously and we were enchanted with the great tasting food and environment of the place. I also rented the private room for my wife’s birthday and it was so special all our guest were blown away with the presentation, food and service of this restaurant. I still hear from friends that go back without me and celebrate the amazing experience. Chef Josef is doing something right! when you go you will see and taste what I’m talking about. Don’t forget to order dessert AMAZING selections.

We went to Sasse’s with a large party, so large the owner closed the restaurant for us. Salad was fresh and the Italian dressing was light but flavorful. Our party had the choice of salmon or chicken parm. My husband had the salmon and said it was delicious. I had the chicken parm and it was served with 2 large pieces of chicken over spaghetti. Everything was delicious and the chicken parm portion was too large to finish. The chocolate cake with raspberry sauce was rich but delicious and everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Josef the owner is friendly and the waitresses were attentive. Highly recommend!

Here we were, 5 hungry guys, reading great reviews on the way, and we get there only to find that«a private party in the back» means that we can’t be seated. Nevermind that there were 10OPENTABLES sitting in front of us! It smelled delicious. I give it a star for that.

I don’t know what’s better, the food or the owner. Divine dishes and character everywhere you look! This is definitely a local restaurant you should support.

Butternut squash soup was excellent but I really loved the ravioli. Our table tried the salmon, veal, chicken parm and pork. Absolutely top quality — no complaints. We’ll be back as often as we can!

Nice Italian restaurant. 29 dollars for 2 courses and 36 for 3 courses. They had about 5 appetizers 3 salads and 8 main dishes. I had the ahi tuna, caesar salad and chicken parmagane. It was very good. My coworker had the veal scalopini. It was very good. This is a small restaurant and the chef talks to the patrons. Get a free dessert with Unilocal checkin.

My 17 year old son and I were in town for a 2 day baseball showcase. We found this restaurant on Unilocal and enjoyed our meal immensely. Don’t be scared off by the outside appearance in a small strip center! Definitely a hidden gem of a restaurant!

Deserving chef! He can create and does so with each dish! Authentic European flavor, good wine list and pleasant, inviting atmosphere make this a fabulous choice to indulge your Italian desires! From the menu, you may find soup, pasta, chicken piccata, pork loin, fish, salads and dessert. There are special evenings with menus and wine tastings that we look forward to trying! It is truly the chef and his impact and attention to each plate… perfection, love, creative and simply the very very best! We will be driving from Bokeelia often. it’s a 30 min drive to Italy!

Tonight we had a favorite — Chicken Parmesan. Chef’s red sauce is amazing! Teri’s barramundi was grilled to perfection and laid on asparagus and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. Amazing date night dinner.

I have nothing but nice things to say about my visit here. We called a few days before and made a reservation for 6:30 out table was ready upon arrival and that’s always a plus!!! I already knew I was gonna love this place when they give you bread(omg that’s my weakness carbs). We weren’t quite sure on what we wanted for dinner so we order a couple glasses of Riesling and a few Stellas in a mean time. Our server let us know the nightly special, although it sounded great we chose something else. I was so torn on what exactly I wanted because everything sounded so good and not to mention our server was so descriptive therefore it made my meal decision so much harder. So I was finally able to narrow it down to two choices(I know right) the lamb shank and braised short ribs. I felt I couldn’t go wrong with either dish, so I asked my server to surprise me with her liking.(I liked it too :) Once we placed our order she brought us a caesar salad and a heirloom tomato and gorgonzola salad. Omg it was delish, I mean a caear salad is pretty similar to just about anywhere, but my heirloom was delish!!! Right before our meals came to the table the chef said to us enjoy your meal and we did just that. I ended up receiving the lamb shank, wow talk about scrumptious it was definitely a nice treat! My dish was so big I didn’t even notice the green beans on the other end of place till I was just about finished. My guest ordered the filet mignon minus the truffle sauce, he decided to switch it for gorgonzola sauce instead and wow it was great treat as a well(of course I sampled it). Our meals were wonderful, very filling and beautiful prepared thank you chef! We were so stuffed after dinner we barley had room for dessert, but we managed to squeeze it in there. I noticed if you check in on Unilocal you get a free dessert, so what do you know I did just that and received a free dessert!!! Dessert was yummy and very rich. I will definitely return to this hidden little gem! Thanks for the outstanding service and food Friday night!!!

Excellent food and service. Very fresh ingredients. Chef was working very hard in the open kitchen. Was great to watch him wirking the great wood burning oven. When things quieted diwn, he makes his rounds to check in with all the patrons. Well worth a visit.

This is a hidden gem! I would have NEVER stopped here on my own but friends wanted to go for lunch and I’m so glad I tried it! The prices are a bit high, especially for lunch, but the food is delicious. You can just tell things are made from scratch and are fresh. We had the chicken Parmesan and four cheese pasta and both were out of this world!

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the chef. We DEFINITELY looked like we were NOT from the area, but were treated GREAT! Our waitress was Rose who mentioned it was her first day working there. Well, if the service was an indication, she will have a GREAT future there. She was concerned, polite, an absolute joy, PLUS a NYYANKEEFAN! That sealed the deal. I asked for an arrabiata sauce which was NOT on the menu and the chef complied with a great job. The meatballs were INCREDIBLE. They were stuffed with cheese and cooked to perfection. The salad was HUGE. It was a great choice to stop there.

Do not be fooled by the strip mall exterior, questionable location and sagging vinyl sign, Sasse’s is definitely a 5 star restaurant. We were promptly greeted by the waitress and the chef who ended up being a new owner of a establishment of about 25 years. Our server was attentive and very knowledgable of the menu. The food was excellent and was personally delivered by the chef/owner. They have great specials that we were not aware at the beginning of our night. Wednesdays are Sasse Day which means you get 15% off your bill. Wow! We will definitely be returning before the snow birds return. The food was Gourmet with healthy portions and reasonably priced.

Bad area, great restaurant. Sort of like your classic big city location. A true quality food. The Osso Buco is tremendous. The wine selection is great. I always leave there with a bucket of food left over. It’s semi-upscale but not pretentious. Started by a CIA graduate, the new owner has filled his shoes well and added a personal twist. The joke with the previous owner was Sasse Time. He would change the clock like a bar so if you showed up 10 minutes before closing he would not let you in and was rude about it. Like the soup Nazi we would leave with our heads down and quiet because we wanted to return. «No Soup For You!» The new owner is friendly and personable. We definitely recommend this eatery.

OUTSTANDINGWHITETABLECLOTHRESTO I feel like the Godfather for this place. I was the first to review 4 ½ years ago and loved it at that time, but for reasons unknown to me I never got back. Possibly it’s the neighborhood, which is not especially good. Having said all that, we went there for Thanksgiving dinner and it was fabulous. Both starters, the Cream of Butternut Squash Soup and the Autumn Salad(with artisan lettuce, sliced apples, craisins, goat cheese & champagne vinaigrette) were delicious and hit the spot. The dinner, of course, was roasted Tom Turkey with all the fixin’s, including special stuffing and mashed potatoes. the turkey was the best we’ve ever had. Dessert was Apple Pie or Pumpkin Cake, both ala mode, and just right. By the way, this was a prix fixe meal at a very reasonable $ 26. This place is under new ownership as of about a year ago. The new owner/chef is Josef Zimmermann, a German fellow, who is not only a very accomplished chef, but most welcoming and accommodating as a host.
