Had dinner at University Grill twice in the past week. The food and service were very good. Are waiters — Scott and Matt — were excellent. Parking is easy. The ambience of the restaurant continues to be very good. This restaurant is good both for locals and for those visiting the area on vacation.

Had a great meal. Waitress Terri was so very nice and made our first dining experience here so pleasant. We both had prime rib and it was hot and delicious. The only complaint was the baked potato could have been baked a tad longer. Will certainly go there again.

First trip to this restaurant and we had a very good meal. Friday night fish night was well worth the trip. Very good haddock. Very good portions and an excellent crab bisque. Prices very reasonable. Service was a little bit of a miss but they recognized it and went out of their way to fix it. This is one for your list.

So, we are going in for the first time ever and there was an older man taking a picture of the restaurant. We courteously stopped to let him take his pic. He said, «That’s OK, I’m just taking a picture of the building.» «Why?», I curiously asked. «Because I just had the best Haddock of my life and I’m telling my friend!»(I’m not making this up) Well…I was intrigued and HAD to order the Haddock. You know what? ITWASTHEBESTFISH(Not just Haddock) THAT I HAVEEVERHADINMYLIFE!!! HANDSDOWN!!! I“m from Western NY and trust me, I know fish. We have it every Friday. The soup was great(Bean and sausage) and the garlic potatoes, wow!(It’s hard to mess them up anyway!) My husband had the Shrimp Scampi to die for! Hot bread and oil… mmmmmmm! Portions were way more than enough. Food came in record time and they were packed! Our server was great and attentive. The other servers who had no vested interest in us were polite and nice Everyone from Servers to cleaners gave us some kind of acknowledgement. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!

Enjoyed dinner with a friend, while traveling. We were both pleased by the upper, mid-range ambiance(steak house, pub). The food was also top-notch. We particularly recommend the Sesame Seared Tuna; it was excellent. Our server«Stephen», apologized he was new. You would have never guessed it by his professionalism. He was always ready to suit any of our needs without hovering. My dinner guest, a new arrival to the Ft Myers area, certainly expects to be back. Wish I could join her. Wait, that is an excuse for a mid-Winter visit.

I had a lunch meeting here mid-week. This seems to be a popular spot for lunch meetings as it turned out because by the time I left the place was full. The atmosphere is old school charming. There is a patio and a nice bar in addition to the large dining room. Nothing stood out as unique to me on the menu as it was very traditional food. Bread and butter brought out with our drinks. I ordered Thai Shrimp Tacos. The tacos did have a good flavor and a large portion of shrimp stuffed inside the warm flour tortillas. I was not a fan of the rice that was served with the tacos; just plain and bland white rice. My colleague ordered the burger which was above average in size and served with thick cut french fries. Service was friendly and food came out fast.

Let me start by saying Lori was a great waitress. She has a great sense of humor considering the«abuse» by my 2 work compatriots. Our appertizers were great: jumbo shrimp, brie cheese pastry and buffalo chicken. Portions were large. Bronzed salmon with spinich and onion rings and a side of green beans were excellent. The other got a pork chop that was just the right size. They said it was very good. The menu had a good variety. The only negative(minor) that they were out of some specialties and the craft beers according to my associated could have been better. I didnt discount for this. Definitely a solid 4 star.

Had tix to see Ralphie May. Sat at bar. We r from Chicago originally. Ambiance reminded us of downtown Steak house, etc., Ruth Chris. Bustling and busy. We enjoyed that. Had a couple of Red wine and 2sppetizers. Enjoyable.

Very nice wooden bar. Happy hr is. 4 to 7. $ 1 off anything listed. Smallest Martini glass we even seen. A very little mini glass. Escargot appetizer was very good. All Tv’s are switched to Sports at 4pm. I hate that!

We had baked haddock.. Delicious! Service was good, place was busy right before a performance at Barbara B. Mann. Certainly worth trying, BUT don’t order the baked potato. Tasted like it was in the warmer a LONG time.

I always make a point to stop here for lunch when I come into Fort Myers. This has been my favorite lunch spot for about 15 years. I always sit at the bar and get excellent service from Sarah and Tina .I always have the same thing their Caesar salad with their own homemade dressing and the black and white Sesame seed seared tuna.

I ordered the pork chops in the guava glaze with a cup of their signature crab bisque and my husband ordered the blackened trout. Both entrees were satisfying and our experience at University Grill was enjoyable, but the menu was way too pricy. I think the only time I would come here again is for a special occasion. I could not afford to eat here on a normal basis.

Came here with my grandparents before my flight back to NY. I thought that the views were very beautiful around a little lake. The restaurant is pretty big and the clientele all seemed to be over 65, which is common in that area. Our waiter was very friendly and chatted us up a bit. I ordered a caesar salad for appetizer, be ware that it has real anchovies if you don’t like that style. The dressing was very tasty and not too garlicky. For entrée, I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce and it was amazing. I ate every single one in the pile. I also enjoyed my red sangria. I’m glad we chose that place instead of me eating airport food.

Tuesday, February 25, 2014 Showed up around 7:30, party of 2 and was taken to a booth. We saw a high top available in the porch area and asked for a seat there. No problem. However, I think this screwed up the waiter karma as it took 15 minutes to be acknowledged. After all that we got down to business. Service: Fine no problem Food: Fine no problem Atmosphere: Fine no problem. I’ll be back.

We decided to try this place for lunch while on vacation in Fort Myers. It’s a NICE place. Nicely decorated and very comfortable. Our service was SUPERB. We had a great male waiter who was efficient, accurate and polite!!! I ordered a burger and it was outstanding. I’d give it a B+ and that’s saying a lot. It was cooked precisely as I ordered it and it was tasty! I guess my biggest complaint would be that the prices are a little high for what you get. But I guess sometimes you have to pay more for good, quality food.

The grill is a decent place… we usually end up here once during our stays in Fort Myers. The crab bisque is delicious and the salads are decent as well. I haven’t really ventured to try anything else as my parents have had less than desirable experiences here with dishes such as roast beef or other such meats. The service is usually fine… I think that we’ve only had one poor service out of maybe 10 dining experiences. My main complaint would be that dinner is overpriced… it’s really a much better place to have lunch. I have and will continue to be back to the restaurant… but again… only for lunch! *Edit* Chef Eddie sent me a very nice response to my original 3-star review, and I have upped my review to a 4-star. My whole family(sister, brother, parents, partner), had dinner at the Grill last night and we had a very nice experience. My sister DID have an undercooked burger, but it was sent back and returned in less than 10 minutes. Our server tried hard and did very well… my mother is pretty much the epitome of a demanding/unsatisfiable customer. I can remember being a kid, having to run to the car or bathroom when we knew my mother was going to lay into a server… ANYWAY, we had a great experience at the grill, great food, and as I stated before, we will be back. Also, I think that it’s important to note that the management of the restaurant did reach out to me regarding my above 3-star review in a non-confrontational manner, and offered to speak to myself and my parents about our experience. Kudos!!!
