Have been here several times. It’s a little bakery that serves up country cookin lunch. The ladies running around serving you work hard and do it with a smile. Try the special of the day. If you ever need something special in the dessert category, this place wins-hands down!

This is a great place for lunch! The navy bean/ham soup was very good. Salad with vinaigrette also tasty. And my friend ordered a pastry/chicken dish that was SOGOOD but I can’t remember the name. Staff is so sweet. Free brownie on your first visit :)

Great lunches. My son is a fan of their pot pie puff. I like everything I have tried. Best cakes and desserts around

I would not recommend this place. I went there today at 2:00 and the girl was rude. She told me they quit serving at 1:45. Didn’t offer me anything at all. This might seem so awful for all of you but I am temporarily handicapped. I have to take off a special driving boot and put on a walking boot! It is very time consuming and at time frustrating! I was looking forward to trying this café because it sounded like it had good food! Perhaps, they will consider being kinder in the future!

This place is by far the definition of «southern comfort food» so if you are dieting, by all means avoid this place! ;) I’ve had the pleasure of eating here twice, once take out and the other dine in. First time, I had chicken salad on croissant with a brownie. By all means tasty but a little rich for chicken salad in my opinion. I accidentally got the cake brownie. It was fine but not my preference of brownie. Next time, I decided to dine in. The sweet tea is divine, with the perfect amount of sweetness to where I’m not feeling like I’m about to go into a diabetic coma. I went out on a limb and ordered the chicken divan and ranch as my salad dressing. Holy Jesus, Moses and Joseph was the Chicken Divan amazing! It was my first time ever having this epitome of a southern dish. A little creamy, cheesy chicken and broccoli with rice. The ranch dressing was great as well. Yes I was probably the youngest in here, but I do not care! FWB is a retirement community and it is lunch on a weekday, so what do you expect? The waitress suggested the chocolate on chocolate cake which according to the man at the register happened by accident and used the Rocky road icing? Please for the love of all things, continue this amazing combo. The icing wasn’t too sweet and the cake was perfectly moist. Service was great! Never feeling neglected or without something but not annoyingly smothering you either. I’m sorry I live two minutes away from this place because I will probably gain 20 pounds but thankfully it’s only open during hours that I work. Give this place a shot. or three.

A simply amazing little gem! The place was packed but we were able to find a table to accommodate our group. Our waitress Shirley was on the ball with the drinks, our orders, and our checks. I’m sure our group was slightly chaotic but she handled everything in stride. Everyone in our group rave about their lunches. I had the chicken and spinach lasagna, so delicious! It was also extremely rich and I could only eat half of it. This place is the definition of comfort food. Everyone’s food looked hearty and delicious but we all managed to saved room for dessert. I couldn’t decide between the hummingbird cake and the Italian cream cake so I ordered both. We all had fun sampling each others desserts and passing them around… but the clear winner was the hummingbird cake. It was so good that a member of our group ordered a whole one to go. Our apologies to anyone else who wanted hummingbird cake that day! I’m already planning what I’m going to get on my next trip :-)

Nice, clean place with decent food. I had the taco pie and it was good. Seemed to be maybe made early in the day or day prior but good regardless. Right sized portions not greasy or spicy, reminds me of church pot luck fare. Definitely caters to the senior crowd but it’s comfortable.

If there’s a restaurant in the country that has an older clientele than this one does I would be completely shocked. If your under 50 in here they bring you a High Chair and a Sippy Cup. under 60 they bring you The Kids Menu… this place skews to the 70+ crowd for sure… when I am here and I am looking around I often think to myself, I hope I still am eating solid food when I’m these people’s age… Sugar Mill is mainly a Bakery where they serve up brownies.cakes.pies.etc, but they have a 3 hour window in the afternoon where they serve lunches… their lunch offerings are all over the map.soups.salads.sandwiches.quiches.enchiladas.Puff Pastry over Chicken Pot Pie Mixture(House Specialty) and they often have daily specials like Chicken Divan. Baked Spaghetti. Pot Roast.and Meat Loaf… the only way I could really describe it is Southern Comfort Food… place is always packed for lunch with long time regulars(emphasis on long time), but the food always comes out quick because all the waitresses have been here forever and do their job well… food is consistently good and satisfying, but that is just the prelim to why everyone comes here: the dessert… Sugar Mill definitely has Fort Walton Beaches best Brownies.Cakes.and Pies… The German Chocolate and Carrot Cake are particular standouts… often time the madness in the front of the bakery/restaurant is people getting bakery items to go and not people waiting to eat, so don’t let the mob of people make you turn around and leave… Sugar Mill is hard to find(kind of hidden in a Strip Center), but is worth the effort. probably more of a 4.5 Star Place, but Unilocal does not allow that so I will give it 4 Stars. and remember when you are there. Age is just a Number

Sugar Mill is one of our favorites for lunch. The desserts of course are divine — we always order several to try. Tthe main dishes are also great. Our go-to orders are the spinach enchiladas, chicken salad, and quiche. All delicious! The staff is always so kind and helpful, with fast service. And it’s great to talk to the chef who made all the desserts when trying to pick out only a few from the great display case!

Based on the name, I thought this place to be merely a bakery. However, they do serve up plenty of «regular» dishes, mostly comfort food. The ambience was that of an early bird special café. As a group of mid to late 20 year olds, we were the youngest patrons by generations. The service here is great, as always in the South. The sweet tea refills just keep-a-coming. The food was decent. The options were surprisingly diverse. As I hinted at earlier, there is more than just brownies and cakes. They offer a variety of dishes from sandwiches to Mexican. Kind of odd, really. Prices were a bit high for the South, but at least, the portions met the Southern standards. Unfortunately, 2 of my friends had some«bonus» bowel movements after eating here. As Chris I. joked, there must have been a little something in the food that keeps the regulars coming. (o_O) Ambience (^_^) Service (^_^) Options (^_-) Taste (-_-) Bang for buck Indifferent to coming. If you are a local, then give this place a shot. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to come here unless you are constipated.

Found this place on google and decided to give it a try when my friend came for a visit. We got quite a few dessert items and all of them were great. The items we got included a slice of key lime pie, cheese cake, and piña colada. Although all of them were on the sweet side but with a cup of coffee, they were all pretty good desserts. Since I haven’t found a good bakery in the FWB area, this is probably one of the places I would recommend to someone with a sweet tooth.
