So good! And fast! Whether you want a nice sit down dinner or a quick quality meal when you’re on the go, this is the best bbq place around. Pulled pork sandwich on garlic toast is the way to go. Great fried okra, great brisket, great sauces, great coleslaw, great beans. EVERYTHING is fantastic. and affordable! Definitely a favorite spot in town.

Decided to have BBQ tonight and this place happened to be right down the street from the Harley dealer. Walked in and was greeted with a smile and quickly seated. Ordered iced tea (unsweeted as we are in the south), then looked at the menu. Ordered pork 3 ways which comes with pulled pork, sliced pork and 3 ribs either sweet & smokey or dry rubbed. I went with the dry rubbed. If ribs can stand on their own with no sauce you know they are good ribs. These were really good with no sauce at all. I tried them with the sweet sauce but they didn’t need any sauce at all. The pulled pork was a bit on the dry side but with a touch of sauce it was good. The sliced pork was very tender with a great flavor. Had it with Mac & Cheese and beans. Both were good but the mac & cheese could use some bacon and jalapeño in it. Just not sure if they do that down here. Over all this is a great Q place and if I ever get back to this area I will be back. Highly recommended.

Absolutely the best BBQ in the entire area. Since this location is just down the street from where I reside I frequent this Sonny’s often. I’m partial to the BBQ brisket sandwich. So good everytime.

Awesome and superb smoked pork loin and salad bar. Because of the slow service, we were forced to take our food with us due to scheduled work meeting. Cannot understand why BBQ food took this long, should be already cooked and ready for immediate consumption. But soooo freakin’ good and so good as leftovers. Great salad bar that is so awesome for folks on TDY that are dying from scurvy. Really enjoyed the food, just wish they were quicker so we could enjoy our meal at the table.

When you don’t experience classic American food for a while, it seems to taste so good when you get to experience it again. There isn’t a shortage of BBQ in the Ft Walton Beach area and Sonny’s was definitely near the top of the list of the options I have experienced.
The staff are incredibly helpful and energetic. You can tell they have been serving great foods for a long time as they were extremely professional and interactive. The restaurant is pretty average, but when eating BBQ, I don’t expect a fancy atmosphere. There are literally no frills inside this place and I think they like it that way.
When it comes to the food, the portions were extremely appropriate. One of my biggest complaints with BBQ is that I usually feel so bad after I eat it because it comes with a small boat sized cup of beans or mac & cheese or potatoes. That was not the case here and it was a nice touch. I went with the brisket, mac & cheese, corn bread, and broccoli. They were all piping hot and flavorful. They went together perfectly. The part that brought it all together was the special brisket sauce they brought out with it. They mix some of the runoff and juices from the brisket and mix it with their house BBQ sauce. I was very happy with this meal.
As I said before, the extras at this place are few and far between. What they do is provide quality food at a quality price. There were no complaints during my visit to Sonny’s.

The 925 Beal parkway Sonny’s is a magnificent place for ribs and Mac and cheese my 2 yr old daughters favorite. Love the smoke BBQ sauce. Only issue I had was our friendly waitress served us quick enough but my little girl was 2.5 years old by the time we saw her again for refills.

We had Sonny’s cater our beach ceremony reception in Destin, FL. They were very easy to work with. They have an easy-​to-​read catering menu and placing the order was very simple. The caterers were on time and had everything set up and ready to serve our guests. We had a lot of positive feedback from our out-​of-​state guests on how great the food was and how friendly the caterers were. I have always been a fan of Sonny’s and will recommend them to anyone and everyone! Best BBQ around and the corn bread was DELICIOUS!!!

I’m in the South. I want BBQ now. It’s the lunch rush and it’s crowded! A good sign. Unlimited salad bar, reasonable prices, smokin that meat! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I gotta go back. They were quick, even with the lunch rush. And polite. It was great!

Server was super nice! The food was ok. When we walked in the restaurant the floors were wet and in the bathroom. There was also a musty smell. Kind of made me want to loose it. If it were not that our drinks were already at the table and the waitress being nice, I would have left. The food was ok. Pulled pork was the best and the molasses based BBQ was really good.

I had Chicken, Ribs, Brocolli & green beans. The food was absolutely delicious. I will be returning.

I’m originally a Texan, and you should know that Texans hold our BBQ up to a high standard. This was not a letdown.
Staff: Attentive, friendly.
Location: ⁵⁄₅. At the time, was a tad busy but in places of this size, it’s to be expected. Still a nice place to sit or use the drive thru.
Food: ⁵⁄₅. They have a 2 for 1 one ribs, and this totally had my attention. Their sauce selection was nice, especially the sweet BBQ. Ribs were perfect to the point where the meat just fell right off the bone, just the way I like it. Mac n’ cheese was spot-​on. Put together with a big glass of sweet tea: happiness.
Pricing: ⁵⁄₅. Nicely priced yet wouldn’t hurt to keep a few notes handy.
Only complaint: N/​A.

Was one of my favorite restaurants in the local area, better than the East River Smokehouse, comparable to the rib shack for food but service has always been the cornerstone for Sonny’s. Unfortunately, since the new crew came in, service has gone down. This is our second meal with the new crew and it is a shadow of its former service crew. Gone is the smiles and friendly bantering and this group is more reserved and business like but not necessarily in a good way. Its too bad about the change… but changes aren’t always bad, it just wasn’t good in this instance.

Ate lunch today. I had a pulled pork sandwhich and salad bar. All food was delicious, as usual. The waitress was awesome and the wait time short.

Coincisdently good. Wish okra was a side you didn’t have to pay extra for.
Salad bar could use a little updating. It’s a little outdated but food is very good overall.

Sonny’s took on the bid of hosting the local Christmas party this year 2013. Pulled pork was good but no smoke ring was present. The brisket was really good. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The bbq beans and green beans were good. The potato salad is NOT homemade. It is boxed garbage. This was a cater for 150 people for a fortune 500 company. Next year we go elsewhere.
All our company asks is put your heart into your product.
Sonny’s did not deliver.

You ever felt like you were in an area of town where you weren’t welcome and all the locals were giving you this evil eye? Yeah that happened, nonetheless I stopped at this Sonny’s. Despite the customers making it slightly awkward for me, the staff was professional and friendly. The restaurant was clean, and the prices here can’t be beat. The pulled pork was great, as were the baked beans, sweet potatoes, garlic bread, ribs, etc. A good experience. I probably wouldn’t return, but that wouldn’t be the restaurants fault, just the locals and the area.

Imagine the most awkward set up ever. And the guy they found for you, unsolicited by the way, is just wrong in every sense. WTF, I just wanted some damn food. And he was cheap to boot. Few things are more unappealing.
At least the food was really good. And our server was sassy and you could tell she thought the dude was a fucking loser too. Full rack of ribs, corn and sweet potato sides. Everything was good. And they have different all you can eat specials according to the day of the week.

This was my first trip to a Sonny’s. My boyfriend lived in FL, so he suggested this place when we couldn’t figure out where to eat while we were vacationing in FWB. I had the all you can eat pulled pork with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. I really enjoyed everything, including the sauces (I preferred ‘smokin’ and ‘sweet’).
The building was clean and wasn’t too loud. Service was a bit slow and spotty and the soda had an odd taste because of the local water, but that’s not their fault.
The price was quite reasonable (approximately $ 12 plus around $ 2.50 for soda). Definitely not bad considering a bbq plate costs nearly that much from some other bbq places.
All in all, despite the somewhat mediocre service, I would visit this location again and would certainly visit any others.
