I visited with my family yesterday afternoon after seeing pretty good reviews on Unilocal.Service was nice and food arrived pretty quickly. However I was extremely disappointed with the portion sizes vs. prices paid. For $ 30 plates, my husband and I expected much more food than we received. The food did not arrive warm, it was cool. We won’t be returning…

Decent lunch. Wife and I split a Crab cake dinner($ 25.99) because we were both getting the CC app @ 13.99 each. One CC each was ample. CC was very tasty as was the rice that came with it. But the hush puppies were little round hard musket balls. Lunch menu included s grouper sandwich and an ahi tuna sandwich, both a bit pricey @ 15.99−17.99. They also offer burger and chicken sandwich.

BEST crab I have had in recent memory. Although we were committed to trying new restaurants each day for dinner, this ended up being a repeat for us, because the food was just that incredible. The service was good, although it wasn’t super crowded either time! We tried the Alaskan Snow Crab(which seriously cannot be beat), the calamari(which was wonderful with the sweet chili sauce), and the fried shrimp(which was great, although I find that fried shrimp pretty much always tastes the same). Also, the atmosphere is awesome, as both times we ate here we were able to look out over the pier and the waves!

So-so service and food. Price is average and the view is killer. Probably more of a bar spot than a restaurant. Not impressed and won’t return, but if you’re in the area you can give it your own try.

I don’t know what I expected, but the only reason this place gets two stars is because our server was nice and the manager stopped by. Otherwise this is arguably the most tasteless, bland seafood I have ever had in my life. Again, the reviews are pretty bad and I hate to pile on, but this would be considered poor seafood anywhere, much less 40 ft from the gulf.

We spent the weekend in Ft Walton Beach and this place was so good, we ate dinner there both nights! We got the Crab Trap Boil which is a huge amount if food. Everything on the plate was delicious! I highly recommend it!

It’s overpriced and the food isn’t great, but if you’re looking for a place where you can walk straight in off the beach and have a frozen daiquiri on the deck while overlooking a great view of the gulf, this place is perfect. I wouldn’t come here for dinner or anything though, the meals I’ve had here were aggressively mediocre. Stick to drinks on the deck.

It’s a tourist trap. Poor quality for the area and premium prices. Do more research and find a place that does justice to fresh Gulf seafood. The service was good just poor quality. Many more places in the area that you can get better food for almost the same price.

Do not come here if you want good seafood. The shrimp boil was gross, all the shrimp were mush and just fell apart as I peeled them. The blue crab claws were in a bowl of butter so you couldn’t even taste the crab. The hush puppies just tasted like straight oil. Go somewhere that isn’t a tourist trap.

This place has great atmosphere and location. The service was quick, but it also wasn’t busy since I visited in January. Since we were at the beach, we expected the seafood to be much fresher than it was. It was mostly noticeable on the crab legs… They were bendy, and didn’t «snap». Overall, the experience was mediocre, especially for the price.

Good food and a great view. The view isn’t on the menu in case you were looking for it though. We shared the snapper and shrimp and had a nice amount for both of us. The service is a little slow and distracted and we had to wave down the server at least 3 times. The water is pretty disgusting as well so make sure you order something else to drink. The prices are decent for the the area but the food is better then the competition. Just make sure you enter the board walk thru the center and not the right, the other place is rude and crowded. We go here each time we visit to get the sea side experience.

The service was pretty good and the beach view from our table on the back deck was outstanding(sunset in early October). It’s also very convenient to the condos and hotels in the Ft Walton Beach area. However, as many reviews have already stated, the food here is not very good. I ordered steak and grilled shrimp with new potatoes. Most everything on my plate was under seasoned(if seasoned at all). The grilled shrimp were overly charred(a combination of bland and burned taste). I did not expect a great steak but this was probably the second worst steak I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It was bland, tough and just not restaurant quality. The new potatoes were(2) miniature potatoes that had been boiled or steamed, again there was no seasoning except the table salt I added. The hush puppies were okay(easily the best thing on the plate) but nothing special. Bottom line, if the weather is pleasant, eat outside, preferably along the rail where you have a beautiful view of the gulf, but keep your expectations low when it comes to the food.

Ok. The only thing keeping this review from being a 1 star is that the manager made things semi-right. Read on. A group of 10 of us came here on the last night of our vacation and I was really looking forward to some great seafood. We were seated quickly on the outside patio(which has a beautiful view of the ocean) and our drink orders were taken. We ordered some appetizers — the Hot Crab Dip & the Fried Popcorn Shrimp Trio. They came out pretty quickly and they were darn tasty. Unfortunately, this is where the experience takes a serious dive! Our waiter let us know early on that he had only been there for 2 weeks(I question why they would sit a new waiter with a party of 10) so we expected to maybe wait a few extra minutes. We did not expect to wait a full 50 minutes for our food and we did not expect for half of that food to be cold, missing, or just wrong. The Amberjack sandwich I got was cold so the manager took it off of our bill. This was the least egregious mistake. Two of my friends got the fresh Grouper, one with lump crab on top, and what they got was two small pieces of fish that were burned on the bottom and no lump crab, although that was brought out later in a bowl and looked absolutely nothing like the picture on the menu. The worst offense that the Crab Trap made was when they couldn’t tell the difference between King Crab legs and Snow Crab legs. Yep, the manager of the CRABTRAP responded with, «I don’t know man» when my friend asked him if he was given King Crab legs instead of Alaskan Crab legs(he knew darn good and well he had been given King) because there is a $ 20.00 price difference between the two. Our final dinner in paradise turned out into a 2.5 hour debacle.

Went here Monday night with a group of friends on our last night of vacation, craving seafood. We were seated outside, and waited for our server. And waited. When he finally appeared, you could tell he was stressed. Turned out it was only his second week, why they put the new guy on the busiest part of the resturant is beyond me. This is where the trouble started. We had to go to the bar to get refills, as we barely saw our server. My fiancé and several of our friends had could food, an indication that it had sat a while. Several orders were messed up, my friend was given king crab instead of snow crab(a 30 dollar difference). Given these were more the kitchen than our server. The manager did try to make things right by comping the messed up orders and gave us some free drinks. Our server was also very apologetic. The food and service were very subpar. Probably won’t try this place again.

Excellent views! Great location for dining The food was good. The amberjack was a little on the dry side but not too bad. The fried oysters(which were removed from the menu but they were nice enough to make it for us) were very good. The gumbo, which my wife ordered was better then expected. I never would have ordered it at this type of place but she was in the mood for gumbo and it worked out. One of my daughter’s got the chicken burger which she kinda liked. A sold 3 ½ stars.

It is a bit of a tourist place but… the food is good and the view is exceptional. I’ve never had a bad meal here and consistently good service. I love sitting outside. The food is a little pricey for what it is, but the few extra dollars are because it’s right in the beach. It’s worth it. If it’s not too hot, the she crab soup is very good. Fried platters, crab claws, blackened fish, and salads are all basic but good. It’s a happy place to hang out, have a fruity drink, some seafood and… be on vacation.

The location is great. If you are seated outside, you can look at the beautiful beach while enjoying the seafood. It looks busy all the time but the waiting is not too bad. The food is pretty much like Crab Shack. Shrimps are better as they are not overcooked as Crab shack. Crab legs are not as good though, small with less meat and taste watery. There are a little bit of steam choices but mostly fried food, the menu are mainly for tourists with kids. Price is medium comparing to most seafood restaurants around the area. Interestingly, fish dishes around the beach are mostly more expensive than the rest parts of the country. I figure people probably don’t like to kill and cook their local fish but have to import some far from overseas to jack up the price. Otherwise why one tiny piece of fish is worth so much more than inland? People do not have any problems killing oysters because they are cheaper.

Have to give 2 stars this joint even though it’s on the beach with a beautiful view of the water and the pier. It’s more of ‘tourist’ place than a cool locals place. I ordered the amberjack fish sandwich which the menu stated was a local favorite. My husband ordered the mahi. As with all our fish, we got them blackened. The amberjack was dry and tasteless. Although I didn’t smell it, my husband said it was fishy. The mahi was good. And you guessed it, I swapped mine for his. I always get plate envy. The staff was trying to put on a brave face, but they were burnt out from a huge private party that started at 10am. The crowd was drunk and obnoxious and there was no music. Pretty much a complete fail except for the view.

We were seated in 15 minutes even though it looked very busy. Great location right next to the beach. We sat outside at sunset. Our server was attentive at times although he never asked me for a refill. Luckily a manager asked if we needed anything. We wanted a cup of gumbo to start off with but it end up coming with all our food which came out super quick! Hubs had shrimp and amberjack. They were good and I liked the hush puppies but fries were blech. Daughter and I shared crab and shrimp Alfredo which was pretty good. This place reminds me of a version of Joe’s Crab Shack. Many fried foods and some steamed items too. It is a busy touristy place but not horrible and not amazing either. You will leave satisfied. Prices are fair. It is seafood.
