I will always come to this salon! I have had both Brandy and Olivia, and they were both amazing. They are always pleasant, I never wait more than 3 or 4 minutes when I arrive, even when I am really early. All of the girls are always so nice, even when I looked so horrible going in and stated so, they were very complimentary and always made sure I had that amazing Tea! On my way back in! MUCHLOVETOTHISSALON! I live on the north east side of town and will drive all the way out here to this salon its just that good!

For hair: Great place for color and haircuts. Casey is very good with hair. I have grey that can be difficult to color, and she does a great job. She also knows how to cut thick hair so it doesn’t get frizzy. Magic! For spa services(facials, waxing), I have tried three estheticians at MOD. You can do better.

I recommend Allison everyday of the week! She knows my hair and knows what works well for me. She’s brutally honest and I love it. It’s a light and friendly atmosphere(I hate a stuffy salon). Go here. It’s worth it.

Received a terrible haircut(April 14, 2013) from an inattentive stylist who obviously was inexperienced. Paid another $ 60 to get it fixed. Worst is that my phone calls to the manager were never returned. I wanted to make sure the manager knew the stylist needed training/supervision on the floor. I would have been delighted to post a glowing review if I’d been treated well at this salon. My first review was removed from Unilocal. Why rely on social media /marketing if you can’t or won’t provide good customer service?

I went to Mark of Distinction for a wedding that I was in. i unfortunately had the worst experience I’ve ever had in any Salon. I always go to In Touch off of 14 so I was VERY surprised with the stylist that I had. I expect the best from Aveda salons and I mean this when I say this, my experience was terrible. The stylist I had for both hair and make up was Karen. I knew immediately that we didn’t «click» if you know what I mean. I think it’s good to have a good«spark» with the person that is doing your hair and make up for your friends wedding(the whole wedding party was here so it wasn’t as if I went here on my own). I will try and keep this short. My make up looked NOTHING like the photo I gave her. She did a terrible job, we ended up taking it off once we got to the hotel to change into our dresses and re applying. She had no idea what I wanted and tried to fix it, but it just started to look worse and worse. I seriously couldn’t believe how ammature it looked. She then moved onto my hair… My hair looked NOTHING like the photo I gave her. I only wanted my hair curled and my bangs pinned back. She couldn’t even put my bangs back in bobby pins. She teased my hair so hard it HURT me. She kept saying«O I hope that isn’t hurting you» I left the salon in tears. She was rushing through my hair because she had a hair cut appointment. I’m sorry, but I did not pay $ 75 dollars for someone to be ripping my hair out and be insulted. Karen was absolutely rude and knew I was uncomfortable. I am so disappointed in this Aveda Salon. I believe the manager or head gal there is Alicia? She was wonderful and I should have contacted her right after and spoke with her about this. I cannot express how upset I still am and this wedding was just in March. I wanted to say something right then and there, but it was my gf’s wedding and I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of her or anyone for that matter. I should have called the next day, but I live out of town and I honestly didn’t have time for it. I won’t ever recommend this Aveda salon to anyone and I never will set foot in there again. The girls ended up re curling and pinning my bangs back for the wedding. It seriously looked like a 5 year old tried to style it. Never again and never will I send anyone to Karen.

Mark of Distinction is a first-rate salon and spa with knowledgeable stylists and excellent products(Aveda is plant-based and totally green, and smells out of this world. Love it!). He’s the most underrated celebrity stylist(probably due to his modesty) at a fraction of Beverly Hills prices. $ 40 for a haircut? A pittance to pay when you want to look like a million bucks.(Seriously, would you honestly go to Supercuts or Penney’s just before a business trip??) What I love about this salon is the quality care that you receive from the minute you walk in the door. It smells delicious, almost zen-like. The staff is happy & cheerful — and there’s something about happy, cheerful staff that elevate your confidence in their service(it also says a lot about their employer). Their hair consultation is educated & sincere, with no pressure to buy products. And the best thing? When you’re in the chair they take the time to talk with you about what you want, without rushing to get it done. There are few world-class gems in Fort Wayne. Mark of Distinction is one of them.
