This place has been closed for months. It was typically very good when it was open as I ate there about ten times.

I wasn’t really impressed. Tried the lamb, but it was covered in a horrendous sauce, and the veggie side looked like vomit. Atmosphere was nice, and my wife’s fillet was well prepared, but probably wouldn’t go back.

did this place really close? if so, how depressing… because i really thought it was a stand out for new american and experimental food in fort wayne. great martini list and really solid food. ive had sea food and steak and have been pleased both times… hopefully things will turn up with the ft wayne economy so this place can reopen!

1 Star is the fact that it’s gone. Opus 24 closed in August I believe.

What’s with all these strip mall restaurants in Ft Wayne? Opus 24 is tucked way in next to a sports bar and behind a grocery store. They try to close at 9pm so I suggest you get there early. The bar found a healthy mix of ages mingling together and I sat between a couple of gorgeous mothers and two young couples. I honestly didn’t try too much of the food, but what I had was good and original: goat cheese flambeed in brandy with lemon, and a side salad. Before the food came, I mentioned Ryan’s Unilocal review and asked if Heather was still working there. All of a sudden I got people’s attention. It turns out I was sitting amongst the inner circle of chefs, waitresses, bar managers, former employees, parents of employees, and current lovers. Wine was tasted(great selection), scotch was poured(great selection), laughs were shared, gossip was dished, and baby picures were tracked down. The chef and the hostess are young, fun, married, and own the place. The 24 comes from the highway on which Opus lies. Heather and her boy moved away, replaced by Ashley, who is the girlfriend of the brother of the guy that Heather is seeing(did you follow that). Ashley also happens to be one of the sweetest girls in the world. Needless to say we closed the bar, staying to hear stories about strangers as if we all went to the same high school, and left a little buzzed and with some new friends. Moral of the story: name drop the big Unilocal and earn a good time.
