I feel like bbq is such an individual preference. This place isn’t my family’s taste. I didn’t think the meat was very good quality. The place seems to have a layer of grime on it. They have a great area in the back that would be wonderful with families. But they have a dog out there that the waitress described as very unfriendly. Such a bummer.

Wow! Another Unilocal Home Run! Best Ribs I’ve ever had — & I’ve eaten a LOT of Ribs! Found this on Unilocal and saw it was 4 Star with over 100 reviews. They were right! Amazing Ribs accompanied by Deviled Pasta Salad(the way Mom made it when I was a kid). My wife had the Banana Pudding and we all agreed it was ‘off the charts’ good. This place is ‘down & dirty’ but don’t be put off by exterior décor… there is Major League good food inside! We’ll be back!

Great bbq. Service was excellent and the wait staff gave great advice. The portions are massive for the amount you pay. I got the pork chops, which were perfectly cooked. The sides were ok. Definitely the highlight here is the main dish but the sides are bad. Definitely recommend.

Out of towner who does not know much about the ‘real’ Texas BBQ. Do not have a wide enough pallet to pass appropriate judgement. But as a lover of all things BBQ, this is my take. I ordered a three meat combo with the sides. My meats consisted of brisket, pork ribs and the sausage. The meats tasted like they should. All had real good smoke flavor, tasty and juicy. The sides were decent, kinda wished they had Mac and cheese. I got slaw, potato salad and beans. Service was decent, we came when it was not crowded. Interior of the place has a BBQ shack kind of feel. Definitely enjoyed it for the most part.

Wow. The best fall right off the bone pork ribs I have ever had. BBQ sauce is top notch delicious. I love the backwoods BBQ atmosphere down to the completely uneven floorboards. We have definitely found our new favorite BBQ spot in town! The limited menu items was kind of a bummer(available until it’s sold out), as my husband was hoping to try the chicken fried steak everyone we know has been hyping up, but he did enjoy the chicken fried chicken.

Billy’s has the best bbq in Fort Worth! The ribs and pulled pork are our favorites but all of the smoked meats are excellent. So is the chicken fried chicken(haven’t had the chicken fried steak). Desserts are to die for! Two reasons I didn’t give five stars… the sides need improvement(most are a little bland) and would like to see a few other choices that don’t include the use of mayonnaise.(A tossed salad would be nice but may be forbidden at a bbq place!) Second reason, you can bring in your own wine, which I love, but they took away the chilled wine glasses and now offer Styrofoam cups instead. I talked to Billy about it and he said he will bring the wine glasses back so we will see… But we love Billys and will be back!

Ribs and brisket are fantastic, but when you add the BBQ sauce it makes it even better! Best BBQ I’ve had in years. And then there’s the chocolate cake and banana pudding! Seriously to die for! Excellent customer service from Big Al! I’ll be back!

Awesome food! I had the pork ribs with potato salad and beans and my husband had the brisket. Both were awesome! Food came quickly, service was friendly, everything homemade. We will be back!

Good BBQ. Had the brisket, pulled pork, macaroni salad, green beans, and banana pudding. Get here early or they sell out! I will definitely come here again! BBQ, macaroni salad and pudding were awesome! Very nice and friendly staff.

Food was great! The brisket was super tender. Only problem was it was a little pricey. In my opinion, worth it!

This place is fantastic! I’m not a barbecue expert but the meat here just falls apart on touch! Had the brisket, sausage and pulled pork all of which were excellent! The cole slaw was great, not overdosed with mayo, as well the potato salad. They also serve Sriracha! Talk about a south east Asian condiment gone mainstream! Go there now! Thank me later.

I had the pulled pork with potato salad($ 1 extra to sub in another side instead of chips). The pulled pork wasn’t Caroline-tender pulled pork, but it was good. The sauce complemented it well. It would be nice if they had some varieties of sauce(maybe I missed them? I only saw the one on the table.), but their sauce was good. The potato salad was kind of a big, chunky potato«salad.» It could’ve used more seasoning. I didn’t realize they had mustard and I’m not sure what else on some sort of salad bar until we were leaving.(Maybe they have more sauces over there? *dunno*) Had I known that was over there, I probably would’ve added a little mustard and maybe some onions, if any were over there. It probably sounds like I didn’t like the potato salad. I did. I just think it could’ve been better. I followed the meal up with a piece of pecan cake. It was good, not great. I don’t regret trying it, but it seemed to be «missing» something, I’m just not sure what. I think more of the caramel sauce would’ve helped, as would serving it warm. I liked the pecan topping, but the cake itself seemed a bit lacking in flavor. I did like that it was a somewhat dense cake, although, I doubt I would get it again. When I ordered my dessert, we were told they were out of banana pudding. By, the time we left, they said the banana pudding had been delivered. Yet the menu says«homemade.» Hrmmm… The banana pudding was better than the pecan cake, though. Although, for four bucks, I expected a bit more quantity. So, what’s the place like? As others have said, «old, kind of falling apart.» It seems like it HAS to be a pier and beam foundation that needs some work. Every time someone walked across the floor, I could feel the floor and table moving. It wasn’t «oh my! this place is going to cave in on me!» by ANY means, but it was a little unsettling. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I get any of the desserts again? Probably not. I think my $$ would be better spent on «real» food items, instead of the desserts I had. EDIT: One last night. We got there right at opening time. If you want a more broad selection of choices, maybe get there an hour or so after open. At least when my dad and I were there, more things became available the longer we were there. So, if(when?) I go back, I’ll probably wait until closer to noon.

Want BBQ? Don’t even look anywhere else. You’re welcome. That’s all that really needs to be said but I guess I have to ramble on in order for this to count as a review. The staff is awesome. The atmosphere is very hole in the wall, which I love. I’m trying to remember a place where I’ve had better ribs but none are coming to mind. If you are looking for a challenge, try eating the Franklin in one sitting.

This was quite a drive from Arlington but we had heard a lot about Billys and were in the mood for BBQ so off we went It is a quaint place with good ambiance for a BBQ joint. We were seated fairly quickly but our waitress never told us specials or checked back with us the entire meal. I had to keep flagging another waitress down to get drink refills.(and no they weren’t that busy). The BBQ was good — I had ribs and brisket and dining partner had brisket and pulled pork. I thought the deviled pasta salad was very dry and no flavor.(tasted like plain macaroni) I finally added mustard and onions to it to give it some semblance of flavor. The pinto beans also lacked flavor or seasoning Partners coleslaw on the other hand was quite good. We did not have desert. Overall I would give it 4 stars for BBQ0 for the sides and a 1 for service. I am not sure it was worth the drive but would probably try it again if on that side of town

I like eating here a lot. Rustic old shack with friendly staff. But it just seems like the food itself it inconsistent. My last meal was a Hot Link that was not only very greasy but an odd gray brown color. I just added some sides and dessert without eating the meat.

We used to eat here a lot but slacked off recently. We went back and noticed a significant decline, so I am dropping a star. We were there at the start of lunch and they were out of several meats and the wait staff was horrible. We had to get up for two refills, then flag down someone for a to go box(they weren’t busy… tables only half full). Plus they were out of all draft beer. I hope they turn it around.

Get the ribs. The brisket is also very good. Pass on the pulled pork. Went with a small group of guys and talked them into giving us a family style type platter with 3 meats and some sides. The ribs are a touchdown… great flavor, meaty, and very tender — all you need is a tiny splash of their BBQ sauce which is excellent. The pulled pork wasn’t bad, just merely unremarkable… texture was a little soft and there wasn’t much smoke flavor to it. The(boys) bathroom is pretty bad. It looks like the toilet bowl hasn’t seen a scrub brush in about a year. Maybe that’s part of the vibe.

This place looks the part. Unassuming basic home made structure.(See picture). Walk in and I’m seated at a table on a slightly slanted floor. Older diner style tables and chairs, like a throw back to the 60s. Simple menu, so I order two meats– Ribs and Brisket $ 15.95, comes with 2 sides — I order Mac salad and cole slaw(both good in small bowls). But the meat portion was noticeably sparse. Two baby back ribs(yes 2) and 3 six inch strips of brisket. I was surprised. I normally don’t order dessert but I didn’t want to leave hungry. I had the buttermilk pie(first time for me) which was homemade and tasted like it. So– from a flavor standpoint, I liked everything. Not mind blowing, but decent. BUT, if you are a BBQ joint, and want to be known for that, put some more meat on the plate! Don’t serve an appetizer for an entrée. I’m not going out on a limb to guess that most people that really like BBQ, are used to chowing down. They won’t be offended if meat is served in ample portions. So that’s it. 3 out of 5 stars. Not terrible, not super, but in the middle. 3. Not a good enough experience to revisit, or go out of your way for, but if you happen to be driving by, and you don’t mistake the building for someone’s old garage, you can eat here expecting an average meal and you will get it.

I heard about this place on a forum last week. I’m a BBQ snob and travel to all of the best and since moving up from Austin area two years ago, have been disappointed in the DFW options(minus Hutchins and Pecan Lodge). Today I trekked out to the run-down(yet awesome!) building and ordered the brisket, ribs, and sausage plate with potato salad and pinto beans. My dad had the half-chicken special with coleslaw. Brisket: Good as advertised. I wouldn’t put it in the same category as some of the places in central Texas like Franklin’s and Snows or Pecan Lodge in Dallas, but it’s the second best I’ve had in DFW, far ahead of 3rd place. The bark was very good with a good peppery flavor with a lot of great smoke too. Very moist, yet not overly fatty. Ribs: Meh… Railhead is the place for best ribs in FW. Sausage: Very good. I don’t think it’s homemade by them, but I also don’t think you can go to the grocery store and pick it up. Was unique and good. Chicken: I don’t know how you can cook a half chicken(in tact) and have the wing, breast and thigh all still moist, but they did it. The rub was great and smoke flavor was perfect. This was excellent. Potato salad/Coleslaw: Don’t like either, but had to get side and these were unique and pretty tasty. If I was a potato salad or coleslaw person, I would like these. Beans: Good, but nothing special. Might have some Ranch Style Beans in them. Sauce: Could use some work. Sweet and lacks originality. Might not make it there? Overall, I thought it was a great experience. The décor is awesome. I will go back for the brisket and sausage.

So with my most recent trip to Billy’s we took The Girlfriend’s grandfather out to lunch for his 94th birthday, he loves BBQ. I told the group that almost everything at Billy’s is done well, so we ended up ordering a bit of each item. After everyone tore into their BBQ, my girlfriend’s grandfather and mother both proclaimed this is the best BBQ to be had in Fort Worth. Coming here for nearly a year now, I have arrived at that same conclusion as well. While many BBQ places in Fort Worth have 1 – 2 things they do really well, at least for me, all of Billy’s items are great: smoky brisket with a great bark, tender, delicious ribs, and one awesome-damned smoked porkchop(Wednesday special). You can see my other reviews here for more specifics, but I think I can finally crown Billy’s as best BBQ in Fort Worth.
