Awesome BBQ, great people too! It reminds me of my first job at a BBQ restaurant! A really cool dining room with lots of stuff to check out. You go through cafeteria style, and it’s simple BBQ, not a whole lot of fancy dishes or anything. I always get the pulled pork and the sausage links. The sausage links can get dry sometimes, but the pulled pork is always great for me. Overall one of my favorite places near home.

The food is good, but the last time we were in, we were ignored for over 30 minutes. Our waitress brought us some extra rolls and then we never saw her again until we left. We were the only patrons in the restaurant at the time so it was not busy. Two other employees came out and ate lunch and were aware we were there. One spent her time fiddling with her phone while staring out the window. It’s a shame — the time we came before that, Donna was awesome and my boys adored her. She was leaving on break when we arrived this time and was the one who told our waitress that my boys love the rolls at Soda Springs, so to be sure to bring extras. Donna is great but the rest, well — I was very surprised and disappointed.

Bbq, good! Burgers, good! Sides, good! Nice place, been around forever, supports a lot of local sport teams. Go in hungry, grab a cod drank, and try the ribs. The set up is cool and inviting.

I liked the inside of this place. You walk in and grab a tray and go through cafeteria style. Then a guy sticks his head out a window which is somehow about navel high and asks what you want. The inside feels a bit enclosed because there are lots of decorations, trophy buck mounts and they like. It’s nice. I was pretty disappointed in the pulled pork though. It has a really good smokey flavor but sadly it’s also very tough and dry. I was very surprised at how tough it was. Didn’t try any of the other meats so I can’t comment on them. I’d say go with the brisket.

Had a date night and decided to visit Soda Springs BBQ of which I found on Unilocal several weeks ago. The location is in deep Fort Worth near White Settlement. We decided to go with the 3 meat dinner selection — brisket, turkey breast, & ribs along with beans, cowl slaw, corn, and potato salad. You get a lot for the price and the staff was so nice and welcoming. All in all the food was great! The sweet ice tea was that down home southern type — I give it a five star. The turkey breast, brisket, and ribs were very tender and delicious. The BBQ sauce was OK but it could use some help. Overall experience was nice and we would surely return soon.

My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant for our date night. We were greatly surprised by the amazing amounts of BBQ ribs and brisket, the best potato salad and kicking sweet ice tea. The staff were as sweet as the BBQ sauce.

Very pricey and not very clean, will not reccommend, the food was cold and cooked well honestly

Kinda shocked this place doesn’t have a better rating. The food was terrific, some of the best BBQ I’ve had in a while. If you like non-chain places with lots of character and great food you’ll want to check this place out.

Oh Texas BBQ, me Luv U! Soda Springs Bar-B-Q is located near my customers’ location, and is a regular stop when in town. The brisket is oh so tender, moist and smoky. Paired with hot links, beans, & slaw makes for a satisfying meal. Soda Springs is set up in typical Texas cafeteria style, with the chef dispensing your meat through a hole in the wall, next up are the sides, drinks and the cashier. Don’t miss the soft rolls as well!

Quaint little out of the mainstream place. Very family owned feeling much like BBQ places of old. The BBQ is all right, I have had better but I have had MUCHMUCH worse. The meat is good and tender, sauce a tad on the tomato side for my taste. You get a good portion for the money and the people could not be nicer. I want to go back and try more of their food.

Okay so it’s right down the street from my mechanic and I had some time to kill so I thought hey barbecue! I got there around lunchtime they had a two meat lunch special which I was pretty psyched to see. I got the brisket, ham, cole slaw and corn. It was not good. The sauce was terrible it tasted overly of tomato. The sides were no good the corn was starchy not sweet at all. My ham was sliced inconsistently some paper thing some very thick. The only saving grace was the brisket literally fell apart in my hands. Plus the flavor on it was pretty good it just the only reason I’m giving it two stars.

I really wanted this place to be great! It is an old school BBQ house with great character and I am sure in the day it was the place! I mean they have my man Red Steagall on the wall for crying out loud… Brisket was, OK at best, a little dry but had bark. Sauce was good. Sides, down the middle and OK too. Wood pile in the back, but cannot see the smoker due to metal fence and I did not want to pry. So, it is OK, just not great. I really wanted it to be great. I could be so great…

The BBQ was ok here. Got the 2 meat plate for lunch. The brisket was good but there really wasn’t another meat that looked as appetizing. They didn’t have ribs or pulled pork. So i was left to decide between sausage, ham, or chopped brisket which they called chopped beef. I went with the ham, it was ok. I was disappointed with the side selections, no ranch beans only cooked pinto beans. Corn on the cob without butter. And what looked like cole slaw and some kind of potatoes salad both of which I am not a big fan of, in general, didn’t try them here. I got the beans and corn. Nothing to write home about at all. The big surprise was the fresh baked rolls that came around from what appeared to a teenage child of the owner. Those were Good.

Decent food, although the price was a little high for the amount of food you get.

I made a mistake and got the chicken fry steak here. While it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t great. The other people I was with got some BBQ and it looked and smelled great. One nice surprise was the beans, plain and simple good beans. No real motivation though to go back.

I’ve been to Soda Springs dozens of times because I work nearby. I’ve never had a bad meal there, but, I’ve never had one that made me want to call my friends or drive across town for it in the evening, either. That being said, if you are ever in the area, and want some decent Texas bbq, and I do mean Texas bbq(as opposed to any other style), this is a good place to get it. I emphasize the style because they don’t serve pork. When I say no pork, I mean, no baby back ribs, and no pulled pork. They also don’t serve chicken. So — what’s left? Brisket. Sliced or chopped. Turkey, and sausages. That’s it. That’s one of the reasons for 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. Not a prob if you are in the mood for beef. The other reason it’s texas style is because they don’t sauce the meat on the grill. They use a dry rub. The upside to these limited options is that they do a good job of cooking the beef. The brisket could be more tender, but I’ve had far worse. If I made it at home, I’d be ok serving it to company, but I’d keep working on it. The best way to order it is chopped. It’s finely diced and blended with the charred outer layer that tastes so wonderful. Tender becomes a non-issue if somewhat tender meat is chopped until it’s small enough to skip chewing if you want. You can mix it with the sauce(which seems to be a commercial food service sauce — another reason for 3 stars instead of 4, but not a big deal), and it’s pretty good. It’s perfect this way for a sandwich, but I like to eat it alone and enjoy the flavor of the beef by itself. As far as side orders go, the dinner plates are served cafeteria style, and you help yourself. That means all you can scoop onto your plate if you want, but they are generous with the meat. You’ll get full, no prob. I’m fairly certain the beans are Bush’s brand ranch style beans from a can. That’s another reason for 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. I’m not fond of potato salad. That’s not their fault of course, but they do have it. They also have an excellent coleslaw. It’s not too creamy and the bowl is kept on ice the whole time so it’s always crispy and chilled. It could use some pepper, some horseradish, some carrots, or some celery seed, but I can eat it and enjoy it. Edible coleslaw seems to be a challenge for many places, so I give them kudos for theirs, even if it’s not the best on the planet. That’s another reason for 3 stars as opposed to 5, but hey, it’s not 2 either. The one thing they do better than about anywhere I’ve been is their hot rolls. They make fresh yeast rolls that are as light and fluffy as any I’ve ever had. They are golden brown on top, and yeasty and steaming in the center. My mouth waters thinking about them. They pull them out of the oven, and send a guy around with the bowlful as soon as they are done. Sometimes, they are almost too hot to touch. So — get extra butter when you are in line. You’ll need it even if it’s not obvious at the moment. In fact, their rolls are the biggest reason I go here. As decent as the rest of their food is, and as good as the rolls are, that’s not something a bbq restaurant should want happening. With regards to other aspects of Soda Springs — the service is usually excellent and it’s family owned and operated. In other words — they’ve got something at stake when you come in the door. The décor is hardcore Texas style memorabilia pinned to the walls and lining the ceiling. There’s alot of strange and interesting items tucked here and there. If they ever swapped signs and called it a flea market, they could do pretty well until they depleted their stock. Another thing I’d point out is that unless you hit them during the Lockheed lunch hour on a thursday or friday, they are fast. You get in the cafeteria line, you walk through, get your meat at a window into the kitchen, scoop up your sides, pay, and you are done. No fuss, no waiting, no order taking, and no waiting for your check. I’m sure their desire to meet the time constraints of daytime workers is behind the limited menu. Bottom line is this: Soda Springs is a really good lunch. None of their food is bad, and some of it’s really good. I didn’t give them 5 stars, but then — that would be the gold standard. I’d drive 40 miles across the metroplex for 5 star bbq. Four stars would be someplace I’d go at night, pay 20 bucks for, or take a date. I tried to be very fair, and I have commented on why they got 3 stars. They do what they do fairly well, and none of the reasons detract from anyone having a bad meal or a bad experience. Give it a try if you are in the area. Otherwise, I’d wait until it was convenient and then I’d go for the chopped beef and fresh rolls.
