Ample portions, good price and quick service. Got take out for the last leg of my «bucket restaurant list» for TX visit. Spinach, green beans and broc & rice casserole awesome; dressing too sweet — maybe used muffin mix instead of cornbread? Yeast rolls still to die for, and cream cheese pie w/pineapple so good. If I could only replicate them in Utah…

Used to be a great place for breakfast but the cinnamon rolls are not as good as they used to be… was really disappointed. Too hard to eat.

On a recommendation of Bruckners Volvo I came here. On the suggestion of the sexy blonde waitress I had the southwest burger with grilled vegetables. Wow, what a great burger and the grilled veggies keep it hot longer. Top that off with perfect sweet tea and I’m a happy trucker! Will come back if I’m ever in the area again.

From the looks of the place it may not look too appetizing. But let me tell you, when you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere it’s a dream come true! The prices for the portions are unheard of! This might sound like an insult, but it’s THEEXACTOPPOSITE! Back in the day, public school breakfast was the greatest thing ever! I went to eat at my daughters elementary when I saw they had biscuits and gravy. It was the so gross beyond words. School lunches have changed. DIXIEHOUSE has the biscuits/rolls & gravy I’ve been craving for 15 years! If you are one of the many people like me who LOVED breakfasts at school– check this place out! You will be reminiscing about old memories in no time

Okay food, outrageous bill. Stopped in with the family about a week ago and left feeling robbed. No one ordered anything special so when I got the bill of $ 110 for 5 of us I wasn’t happy.

Incredible breakfast here! Excellent value. A lot of food for a little money. The waitresses are amazing and you never have to wait on a coffee refill. This is my favorite breakfast joint.

I WAS a regular here. Today My Friends and I were treated with disrespect!!! Never going back ever! First of all Our food took way longer than expected to come out(30 – 45 mins). Next when we were checking out the manager(after my mistake in handing her the wrong credit card) had the nerve to tell me to make a decision because there was a line!!! I will no longer be a regular or ever go here again after being treated that way by a manager! I then called after getting back to work 20 minutes late, as a courtesy since I didn’t want to disturb«the line» and the manager could care less and kept interrupting me telling me that after we left she asked the waitress and staff why it took so long. I was telling her her attitude itself was appalling and then she was like I hope y’all do come back and said I can see you don’t care and we will never be back!

The breakfast was the best I had ever had. From the thick cut bacon cooked to perfection to the pancake and syrup that shocked me with how good they were. and on top of that all they use farm fresh ingredients and it makes a difference.

For my first time eating here, I have to say that I was very pleased. The restaurant looks small from outside but when you walk in, it’s actually quite big. The atmosphere is very«cliché diner» and very homie(no, not your friends). The food was very pleasing. Good portion sizes so you will be full and satisfied upon leaving. I’m picky about my meatloaf(but I gave it a chance) and this was very good. Almost like my dad’s. I can’t wait to come back and try everything on the menu. But we all know you can’t leave a diner without having some pie! Right? I got the peanut crunch pie. Basically, it looked as if she gave me half a pie, huge portion. It was orgasmic!(I don’t know how else to explain that it was really delicious) To wrap up this post, I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone. The servers were nice and fast. The food was phenomenal. The pie was great! 5 Stars!

This is a definition of greasy spoon. Small place but the breakfast I had was great. The prices were awesome and the waitresses were funny. I was doing work at one of our terminals in the area and it was recommended by many of our truck drivers. Four stars now but after I had more meals(especially lunch and dinner) I could see it going up!

Anytime we come to this place the service is exceptional! Jadon makes my Tony feel like he is the most important person in the entire Restaurant. And that is worth to me more than anything. Absolutely Amazing

First off, the outside looks like a throwback to a time lost. Do not let that stop you from entering. If I could give half stars I would, there will probably never be 5 stars from me on anything ever. Greeted and seated promptly, courteous staff and friendly. Meal came vary promptly, food was HOT! Chicken fried chicken great flavored crispy batter, good cream gravy. Juicy and tender. Chicken fried steak again a good crust, seasoned. Tender enough to rate in the top 10 places to go for a cfs if not higher. Same gravy as above. Fried okra nothing special there probably from Sysco. Green beans from a can but seasoned well and has bacon, cooked till tender soft but not falling apart. Where they shine is mashed potatoes, from scratch and really done right. To die for is their twice baked potatoes I could have a big olé plate of those alone and been in heaven. The prices are a bit more than average but well worth it for the amount of food we had. We did go at lunch 12:30 on a Saturday not packed but busy. This place really deserves a second round at their breakfast menu and their pie counter. I feel if they can get a chicken fry and gravy spot on, they should be able to give me eggs over easy and not have runny whites! Again this is a must try place!

Had the vegetable plate. The only thing that tasted fresh was the fried okra. The mashed potatoes were dry and not creamy and the Mac and cheese was too salty and tasted processed. The waitress was very kind though and said she would take my comments to the owner.

I loved this café. There was a full house of what appeared to be regular customers on a late Saturday morning. Our waitress made us feel like regulars, as she was very friendly. Coffee was fresh and hot and the cups were kept filled. I ordered the Dixie scramble and it was sooooo delicious! I couldn’t finish it all, as it was a giant platter of biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon. Will definitely be back when in the area.

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area — hands down. I get a ham and cheese omelette most of the time and it’s mouth watering good. Some extra crispy bacon and wheat toast slathered in butter and cooked on the grill just makes me salivate. I’ve had lunch there a couple of times too and it’s pretty darn good. It’s only four instead of five stars because the servers get to talking a bit much during non-rush hour and neglect the tables some. But I’m retired and not in a rush so it doesn’t really bother me. I really recommend the place for some good southern comfort food.

Had breakfast there yesterday for the first time. It started out with a very loud wait staff talking so loudly that we couldn’t hear each other talk at our table, which was 50 feet away from them. Once we got our drinks, my hot coffee kept sloshing all over the table and my jeans, due to the wobbly table that shook every time someone breathed. I ended up putting my coffee on the floor until I needed to take a drink. The food is reasonably priced, and looks great when it comes out. Unfortunately, the flavor is lacking in the ham(a $ 2.50 up charge), the pancakes are dry and crumbly, and the sausage is too spicy for some people. The hash browns; biscuits and gravy are so-so, but not worth the visit. If you have ever eaten at the Old West Café in Grapevine, Sanger, or Denton, then you know what great breakfast tastes like. It’s not fair to compare any restaurant to Old West, but this one doesn’t even register on the radar. But never fear! There is a McDonald’s next door to the Dixie House Café, so you will not be left hungry when you decide to go there instead.
