–Barbecue was decent. Not great. Not terrible. –Jalapeño sausages are really good in my opinion. –Their meats are priced by half pound except for sausage and chicken. Sausage and chicken are priced whole or half. –Not a whole lot of sides to pick from. The sides aren’t really that great. I only liked the new potatoes and corn on the cob. –Can be pricey –The store itself is huge. They also have a patio area. –This Rudy’s is the only one without a drive thru and a gas station unless there’s another Rudy’s that’s the same way that I don’t know about. –Service was okay. Can’t complain too much about it but there’s nothing to really brag about. Some of the workers are not impressive though. Conclusion: Will I be back? Yes. No. Who knows? But probably not.

I went to Rudy’s because of the photos my co-worker always sent of succulent brisket she ate in Austin. The Fort Worth branch was new and the employees were helpful and great. The brisket at this location was dry with minimal bark and required a lot of bbq sauce to make it palatable. The corn on the cob was flavorless even when dredged in butter. The highlight was the jalapeño sausage which had great flavor.

What a letdown! Bbq was dry and hard! Cole slaw was unremarkable. It’s a nice place just will not go there again for bbq. Might be a nice patio to sit and enjoy a bud light but will be sure to eat before I go there.

I like to smoke my own brisket, but if I can’t have mine, I’ll take Rudy’s. The one thing about Rudy’s is that they’re consistent. Everyone I’ve been to, I’ve enjoyed. I love the open dining atmosphere when the westher’s nice and I like the«country-store» setting. I also like the sausage, beans, and BBQ sauce, but I do not care for their sides(other than the beans). All the other stuff like drinks, fixings, etc remain standard fair. But let’s face it, you go to a BBQ Joint for the meat, and around here, there’s nobody that does it better!

I really hate to give this place only two stars, because I love BBQ in general, and it just makes me sad. I tried Rudy’s one Sunday a while back, since my favorite BBQ place isn’t open on that day. I was hopeful, as the place was packed and it was pretty new, that I could add it to my list of beloved BBQ spots. Sadly, that was not to happen. I got a mixture of the lean and«moist» BBQ, because I wasn’t really sure what I would prefer. The lean wasn’t particularly lean and the moist was just super fatty and weird. The taste was off, too. Worst, it was insanely expensive for what I got… over $ 20 for what honestly amounted to about a quarter pound of edible meat. I actually ended up throwing the majority away, which is rare for me when it comes to BBQ. The sauce was just alright. Pre-packaged and you get to choose between regular and spicy. I tried to ask questions, but the teenage girl working behind the counter seemed disinterested and like she’d rather be somewhere else. The only thing that I really enjoyed was the little bar with the pickles and stuff. It actually had some spicy carrot slices on the bar that were super tasty and hot! I rarely find those anywhere other than Mexican restaurants, so that was nice. To be fair, I didn’t try any other meats or sides, so maybe those are stellar. I probably won’t be back to try, though.

I was excited for some good barbecue. I went to college in Austin, and absolutely love Rudy’s there. Ever since coming back to Dallas, the food quality at Rudy’s just isn’t the same here. I’m still continuing my search for great barbecue.

My wife stopped in for dinner. She had a turkey sandwich which had a good amount of meat on it. She said it was very moist and flavorful. I had the pit hams which had a great taste. Also I had regular sausage which I enjoyed. The cream corn was lots of cream and not much corn. We will be back.

The most overrated restaurants in north Texas are the barbecue ones. Unfortunately, this is just another place that proves the rule. Why do restaurants think bringing in picnic tables and using paper instead of plates makes barbecue better? It doesn’t. Sides are pricey.

Wow the brisket is ridiculous! It’s so tender and has an awesome taste. The service is awesome, and the food is reasonably priced. Overall awesome food and one of the best bbq places in Fort Worth.

Well… I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews about the place, but decided I would try it and form my own opinion. When you walk in, your greeted and shown the menu and explained they operate like a meat market. Everything is by the ½ lb or more. Sides are all extra. which can add up to pricey fairly quickly. I ordered 1 lb ribs, ½ lb brisket, potato salad and beans. Price was $ 46! The girl at the counter was preoccupied with something else and not paying attention. She charged me twice for ribs as originally the check came to $ 61. So she took those off. I get it all home and no beans… I was irritated to say the least with the service and now my missing food. I spoke to Shannon(a manager) who looked up my receipt and said she would refund the transaction and apologized. I thought. that was nice! Two days later… still no refund. I called to speak to somebody else who said she was Shannon’s manager and that Shannon denied every saying that to me. Also… she said my receipt did not show beans or ribs! I had my receipt in hand! Now your calling me a liar? What. Never will they get one penny from me… and I hope this will help anyone else in the future from getting ripped off and lied too! The Que — -brisket was dry… Ribs were ok. Potato salad and cole slaw rock. Beans? Well i guess I’ll never know. And way too expensive!!!

Wasn’t bad the brisket was actually pretty good and the jalapeño sausage was actually very tasty where they lost me was the ribs while not bad a ½ pound of ribs which equaled 3 was $ 9.41they must have been out of their mind. On another note the Green Chile stew was really good and while I liked the majority of everything this place is way to expensive for what you get I most likely won’t be back cause for those prices you might as well go to a high end steak house but never the less the food wasn’t bad just isn’t worth the price.

First, it hurts my soul to see any place scrape the bark off the brisket… Did not like the sauces which is something I rarely use but the meat needed something. I did like the beans and patato salad.

I tried out Rudy’s for the first time a week ago. I got turkey breast, the beans, and an ear of corn. The place is rather huge and rather noisy, but I got my order to go to avoid all that. The turkey with some type of pepper rub on it was the best I think I’ve ever had, they weight the meat in front of you before they wrap it up. They have two types of BBQ sauce — a original BBQ sauce and then a sweeter BBQ sauce. I got the original and it was good. The beans were awesome and the ear of corn was fresh corn, not frozen. I will say they do have teenagers at the cash register so double check to make sure they gave you what asked for before you leave. Most of the meat is sold by the ½ pound except the sausage is ½ or whole link and the chicken is half chickens. If you eat at the restaurant they have pickles and other stuff you can self serve in the dining area. So I need to back to try the other meat options but I’ll be eating that turkey again at some point.

They have nothing fried. No oakra, French fries, or Mac n cheese. Very few sides to pick from. The first batch of brisket we received was old & tough. They really need to work on trimming there meats. There were so much fat in our brisket it was gross. The turkey was o.k. Wish they had better breads. Something other than a slice of white bread.

Do not go to this location! They have nothing but little teenagers who do not know what they are doing. This is obviously their first job. The service was so slow I could go kill a cow myself and make my own BBQ. I love the other Rudy location. It’s a shame how your own employees will be the one to put you in the ground.

Came here for a work dinner. The brisket was good but not spectacular. I really loved the sauce though. I got the jumbo potato with brisket. The potato itself was very overlooked and dry. The sour cream and butter couldn’t help that. The beans were very good. They were tasty. I will go back to try the green chili stew. This is right down the street from the office so will probably come sometimes but I would not drive out of my way for it. Came back today for lunch to try the green chili stew. The flavor was decent but it needs about twice the meat as it has. I finally mixed my side of beans into it.

$ 20+ for 6 ribs(half slab) with nothing else. No sides just the ribs. On top of that they are a new store with a fairly new concept to the way they sell their food yet the staff was unhelpful and rude almost. Furthermore it’s a crime to have bbq and no fries, am I right? Now to the Pork Ribs that I got, 6 came to just 1.26 lbs(pounds) and it’s $ 7.49/half pound. The ribs weren’t bad, moist, not traditional spices. Reminded me of Arizona bbq. So I don’t think I’ll be back, there is just too many other places that serve good bbq. Freddie, Shady Oaks, and others. After having bbq in Memphis and all over the States this should be illegal.

The definition of 2 stars… Meh, I’ve experienced better… Well, I have experienced MUCH better… at other Rudy’s. I LOVE Rudy’s, and have no doubt that the service and food issues we experienced will be worked out over the next month as they train staff and pit crews… worst of visit(besides inexperience of order taker) was the brisket… one reviewer commented that it «chewed back»…we got cuts from the same dry, overcooked, and unappetizing brisket. And BTW… when Rudy’s is on and the pits well managed, I enjoy their brisket as well as anyplace in Texas(well, excluding Kruez and Killen BBQ)… Great new place, and this review will be amended or deleted once they are up to full steam. But anticipating that Rudy’s reads their reviews… you have much to accomplish to keep the loyals coming back. Will close with EVERY person there was polite, smiling, and willing to help.

This place just opened and I thought it would take a little while for the food to taste ok. But it was very good and if they are smart get even better. The longer the pit gets seasoned it will be even better.

Ok. Here’s the thing! What’s better than good Barbecue once a day? Well, twice a day… Of Course!!! So… That’s what I did. Opening day at Rudy’s Country Store and Bar‑B‑Q needed to be a celebration of sorts to test out Rudy’s fare. So. I went for lunch and it was five stars. Then when one of my best friends came over, I just had to go back to show her the good vittles. So, this turns into a convoluted review. Trudge on! ***** Review 1 — Lunch —- 5 Stars ***** This location is now open! I got to try it opening day. They had as many staff as they did customers! But, it was only 2:45 in the afternoon. I really like pulled pork BBQ. I suppose you could say I’m a pig for good pork BBQ!!! So I got a pulled pork sandwich to go along with a small container of coleslaw. When I got home, I opened the sandwich to add some of their original sause(not sauce the ads say) and was immediately disappointed by the look of the texture. It looked almost ground up or chopped as they say back in NC where I’m from. It was not«pulled» with big chunks of meat like most places. So, I added the sause, took a spoonful of slaw and dug in. OMG… I was surprised. The slaw was very good, the BBQ with the original sause was very tantalizing and scrumptious. The sause had a small and most perfect bite to it. I was very impressed. I’ll definitely go back(often)! They open for breakfast each morning at 6AM. **** Review 2 — Dinner —- 4 Stars **** Still opening day. Burp! I’m getting full of BBQ(That’s not a bad thing). We tried a variety of items on their menu just to get a flavor of variety and the goodness of it all. On balance, the second visit was more disappointing for the fundamental thing you get at a BBQ joint — the meat. Let me just give a chart of the items tried and the stars we gave each item tried. 3* Baby back ribs — dry and not falling off the bone. Cheddar’s has better. Imagine that! 3* Brisket — dry and some parts chewed back at you 5* Potato salad 5* Cream corn 3* Three bean salad 2* Peach cobbler — tasted more bready than peachy 5* Zapp’s Mesquite BBQ chips Yum!!! The overall is four stars rather than three because of the two sides we really liked not the meats obviously. So… it could just as easily have been 3 stars. We are giving them the benefit of the doubt since it was opening day and frankly anything can happen on a restaurant start-up. So. Hopefully others will soon add their reviews. The atmosphere was quite pleasant. Their web page says that their pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Along with time and oak, they cook with a dry spice. There is a distinctive pit cooked taste to it that is quite unique from other BBQ places. Rudy’s is on the I-35W North Bound access road entered at Western Center. It shares a driveway and must be entered at Posados. Alternatively, you can turn onto Fossil Bluff Drive from east bound Western Center and then turning right into Posados parking lot and going behind Posados. Other restaurants in this area include Twin Peaks, Boomer Jack’s Grill and Dublin Square, Other area locations are Denton, Arlington, Frisco and Allen. The Unilocal ratings for those locations are about a 4. OINK on!!!
