The Golf Club Fossil Creek

Since moving to this area this has been the best surprise. Beautiful rolling greens and well manicured. Lots of trees too. It’s also an Arnold Palmer designed course. Absolutely the nicest golf course in the area.

Certainly one of the best golf courses around, I might be a little bias because we’re residents there. The fairways are in great condition and the greens are fast and in awesome shape. It’s not a cheap golf course to play unless you get great deals on «golfnow app» this place makes a great gift for someone special.

This isn’t my first time here and won’t be my last. Course is in great shape as usual, probably best around. A lot of courses in the metroplex had issues with their greens due to the winter but not here. Friendly staff and great value. Nothing to complain about. You should check it out!

I was at fossil creek with work sponsoring a hole. We had #10 — one of the farthest from the clubhouse. My coworker had put our alcohol order (2 kegs) in with the food and beverage manager the day before. When she told him it would be $ 800 for 2 kegs we changed it to 3 cases. 3 cases of beer costs $ 390. Absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, when we arrive, we go to the f&b manager to pick up our order. We are told we cannot have any beer because they don’t have an employee that is TABC certified to serve it at our tent on hole 10. She basically called us liars and rolled her eyes at us multiple times. The manager was the most unprofessional, bitchy person I have ever come in contact with. After this, we learn they are not providing carts for sponsors. How did they think we were going to get all the coolers, tables, chairs, and a tent to the hole without a cart? I took a cart anyway. The entire 7 hours I was out there, the drink cart came once and she was completely out of beer. The course itself was very pretty. The management is going to run this place into the ground. DO NOT HOST AN EVENT HERE. IT IS A DISASTER!

Picked up a round for a great price on GolfNow and was excited to play Fossil Creek again. I get there and the staff just seemed a little uppity for my taste. You could just tell that they thought a bit too much of their course for what it really is. Got to the range and it was a «mat only» day. I’m guessing because the range looked pretty tore up and in need of some time off. No starter on the 1^st tee made for some confusing and awkward conversations to try to find your group. I had to call the clubhouse twice to figure out who I was playing with for the day, and each time they were hospitable, but seemed annoyed that I didn’t know who I was looking for. Saw the cart girl while on the 1^st tee box, which I thought was unusual. Had I known I wouldn’t see her again the rest of the day, I probably would have loaded up on some drinks at that time. We (after running into another person that looked lost for a partner) teed off. Got to the first green and noticed the pin distance on the GPS was about 20 yards off from my laser range finder. The GPS showed the pin up front and well, you can guess where the pin really was. Another call to the clubhouse and I was told that the locations on the GPS screen were yesterday’s pin locations. I had a 12:38 tee time and couldn’t help but to think, hmmm, isn’t there a button you could have pressed by now to give us accurate yardage?. Anyway, on we went. We ran into a good wait time right about the second hole. Not racist at all, I promise, but Asians were everywhere. Called the club house (again) about slow play at the 5^th hole (a par 3) and that seemed to help until about the 7^th hole. When asked (over the phone of course) I was told they didn’t have a Marshall today. Anyways, got to the 10^th and there were no blue tees. All they had were the tips and the ladies tees, which were about 80 yards from the hole. The 4 hour and 40 minute round continued until the 18^th, where I decided despite never having done a review on a golf course before, I was going to do my very first one. To be fair, overall the course was in good condition. The greens were fast and rolled pretty true, despite many unfixed ball marks and some spike marks near most of the holes. For what I paid ($ 24 bucks) I would consider going again mainly because the quality of the course versus the price makes it bareable. I don’t know how they get people to pay $ 79 bucks to play there. Over my dead body. It’s a $ 45 course at best. For the money, Iron Horse is in just as good of shape right now, if not better and is also a shot makers course with lots of irons and hybrids off tees. Hope this helps anyone who reads. FYI. I play at a 5 Hdcp and have a good knowledge of what to expect at pretty much every course in the DFW area. Don’t get me wrong, this course has a great layout and is generally in really good condition. If you are looking for an overall solid course that will challenge you, check it out. But if you want to have a 4+ hour round on a Tuesday afternoon and terrible service, check it out.

Fossil Creek Glof Club is the worst most unprofessional place I have ever dealt with. There were 4 different people we had to go through before our wedding actually took place. Apparently they treat their employees as poorly as they treat their customers. No one seemed to know what was going on. Every single person that we came in contact with talked out of both sides of their mouths. After our event we tried to discuss details of the poor treatment from the bar tender and lack of interest from the people working our event but the golf pro made no apologies and began trying to put me on the defense.
There is no accountability for the alcohol that I purchased and the alcohol that was served to my guests. The bar tender was openly complaining about the tips (very unprofessional).
The ball room is pretty and the setting on the golf course is beautiful, but the poor treatment and dishonesty from the employees obviously comes from the top and is encouraged.
Very disappointed.

I love the golf course, but this review is based on the monthly membership program they have. I went in and personally canceled my membership and they have continued to bill me. I have called up there 3 – 4 times once speaking with with new general manager who told me he would look into the issue and call me back. I’m still waiting on that call as I have left a voice mail message for him and a message through another worker up there and have still not heard anything. I will go up there personally today so I hope he is working.

This course is not the easiest place to get to. Course is well laid out and well maintained. Large greens, creeks that wind through the course, narrow fairways and lots of trees make it very challenging. If you are a novice, it’s probably better if you went somewhere else. The pro shop is ok and the snack bar does not have a lot of options.

I liked playing here well enough, but there were a number of things that turned me off. This is a private club, and so my expectations are higher than that of a public course. I got to play here yesterday for a charity event. Thankfully, the rain held off all day and we were able to get in our 18 holes. It’s not a big club: The clubhouse isn’t all that large, the pro shop is small, even the number of spots up at the driving range is limited. The driving range is right along the main street, with no netting or fence for protection — kind of odd. It’s nice enough — the clubhouse is in good shape and looks nice. The people working there were nice. I liked the little bar area.
The course itself was in OK shape. Another big group of golfers had just finished their tournament/​charity event before ours started, and they sure did a number on the place. Lots of divots, ball marks on greens. I fixed a lot as I went along (I used to be a caddy — it’s my habit). Overall the place was in good shape — I never hit off dirt or dead grass. The greens were in fine shape — a few bad patches here and there — one spot on a green looked like someone replaced last weeks’ hole position and just crammed a bunch of grass in there. A few holes have these «ravines» you have to hit over — very challenging. I don’t understand those — they look like the course is eroding away with nothing to stop it. One par three is onto a green which is practically an island. We took carts, and ours was the slowest of the bunch. The included GPS and yardage was nice — it even has an electronic scorecard but we couldn’t find our total when it was all over. The carts are the advanced kind that will limit your speed in certain areas or stop you altogether if you drive somewhere they don’t want you to go. It gets annoying plus the fact that ours was slow overall — kind of a drag. All the holes border homes, so it’s like you’re being watched the whole time. One errant shot and you can easily land in someone’s pool or break a window — and yes that very nearly happened to us!
It’s nice enough, I’ve played better, and for my money I’ll stick to the public courses. They’re far cheaper and in just as good a shape as this place.

wow. course itself was great… well taken care of… greens and fairways in good condition.
but they have serious managment issues…
1. not using coolers today because they are put up… it was freaking 100 plus
2. charge for towels. ok i guess.
3. no water available in any of the coolers around the course.
4. disgruntled cart girl telling me about her bad day… ???
5. started raining on 9. so we went in to get rain check. attitude from managment. really???
i really dont even know that ill be back to use the raincheck … very disappointed in the whole attitude of this place… thats crazy because anyone who knows me will tell you im really really laid back…

A great course! One of my favorite in the metroplex. Lots of great shotmaking holes.

Fossil Creek is part of the Eagle Card promotion which is basically $ 1,000 worth of golf for $ 200. It’s far away in Fort Worth but I worked it out so my round was after a Fort Worth event I was at sooo … 2 birds, 1 stone.
It tunred out to be a beautiful Sunday morning despite prediction of rain earlier in the week, screw you Pete Delkus, so a lot of golfers showed up and the staff was a little overwhelmed but did a good job getting golfers out and on the list. I think they were prepping for a tournament too.
The facilities are great. The driving range, chipping green, and putting green are right close to the first tee box so you can see when the box clears and head on up. It’s one of the most lush courses I’ve seen this time of year and provide some challenging holes.
It’s not too long but it has a lot of placement type shot and a couple challenging par 3’s with elevated tee boxes and lots of water. I did find it unusually there were a few white stakes 3 feet from a back steak. White stakes indicate out of bounds but when there’s a back yard fence they usually just make the fence and back yard out of bounds and forgo the stakes. That screwed me one time and my buddy one time too.
If you get a group to head out there its worth the trip. I usually try to find some kind of discount special and I think GolfQ and a few other places have some. It’s about 15 minutes from downtown FW so grab some Tex Mex or BBQ when you finish up.

This Arnold Palmer design course is in perfect condition. Rolling medium speed greens and shorter rough than last month.
