1st Stop Storage

Rented several units here over a period of 15+ years. Accessed our unit one day to find it had been broken into from the inside via the adjacent unit and many thousands of dollars of collectibles and irreplaceable family heirlooms had been stolen. The place was ransacked and our property thrown and strewn all over the place. I was horrified and called the police. They arrived and investigated and said to me after crawling through a hole that had been punched in the wall from the adjacent unit that they «had found how they got in». Only problem was, the adjacent unit had been vacant and that left only one person with access… You got it, the owner or manager would have been the only ones who had a way in. I confronted the rude, ill mannered, foul mouthed manager and he told me to «(insert expletive here) myself». This sub-​human even tried to accuse me of breaking into my own place! There was no insurance, so WHY WOULD I DO THAT??? A police report was filed but since they could never prove it, we could not prosecute. We took what was left of our belongings and moved to Fountain Valley Self Storage. Security is far better there with redundant systems and video archives (which were not available at 1^st Stop). I would advise anyone who has anything valuable at 1^st Stop to be very cautious and careful. It happened to us. $ 40,000 worth of personal property stolen and irreplaceable, personal items trashed or stolen (family photos, electronic keyboard, etc.). ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

I’ve rented from 1^st Stop for a few months now as a place to store my stock for a local swap meet. I’m in and out a few times a week, and I find it easy to do so. The prices are fair, and I’m in the process of growing to a larger unit that recently came available.
A big plus is that I can pull right up and access my unit easily. I’ve been in other facilities that require alarms, elevators, lots of walking, parking far away… what a pain. I’m too busy to fool with all that stuff! I want to get in, do my thing, and get out as quickly as possible. That’s absolutely doable at 1^st Stop.
My interactions with the management/​staff have been pleasant and professional. The information I need is always forthcoming and they have been proactive in finding ways to meet needs I didn’t even know I had!
My one concern is that the facility closes earlier than I’d like on Sundays, but I’ve adjusted my schedule to accommodate that. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars to this review is that, sadly, the unit isn’t free, LOL!

This storage company is the cleanest storage property I have ever seen. The management shows pride of ownership in the property. Restroom is immaculate and the employees are friendly. I had read a review on Unilocal for them about a break-​in so when I rented I asked the manager about it. She explained that break-​ins happen at storage properties but that the comment on Unilocal was very questionable as it appeared that it was done by tenant. The hole they reported was broken from their space into an empty unit. I have complete confidence that the management does their best in keeping the property safe as possible.
