It was a Thursday night, and it wasn’t as packed as I thought it would have been. We chose our table, and ordered right there. We ordered a few beers, strawberry soju, and a few dishes. The atmosphere was club like. Lights dimmed, music blasted, and sports playing in the background. It wasn’t too long, before we got our food and drinks. Their strawberry soju was pretty good, to where you can barely taste the soju. As for the food, it was yummy, but the calamari was a bit salty. We ordered another round of soju, but mango flavored this time. It wasn’t my favorite flavor, but it was still decent to drink. As we were getting buzzed, we decided to order some porridge, before heading out. And for being tipsy, I can say that it definitely helped me sober up a bit. Overall, I can say that the drinks and food were pretty pricey, but we got ours half-priced. I’d possibly recommend it to others.

Cheap beer, and bomb food. That pretty much sums it up! If you know anything about the Vietnamese caulture, it’s a place where you have quan nhau food meaning a bunch of friends sitting around, just talking and having a good time while sippin’ on beers and picking at food. The dishes here are definitely not designed for personal consumption, but more of a community buffet of sorts. Kudos to the chef in the back because everything I’ve had so far has been excellent. –Fried Rice — yea yea I know you go to a Vietnamese place for fried rice? It’s seriously really good here, better then most other Vietnamese places I know. –Bo Tai Chanh — A MUST!!! It’s thinly sliced pieces of meat cooked in lime. No you’re not going to get e. coli! It’s freaking delicious especially with all the fresh pickled veggies that go along with the dish. –Wings — A little small, but super flavorful. It’s garnished with a bunch of garlic and onions, and the skin is crispy and satisfies all your taste buds. I wish I could try more dishes here but it is a little on the pricey side. The only reason I really go here is because the beer is $ 2.00! The food, while it’s delicious, it’s also a bit overpriced.

Don’t necessarily like the crowd… maybe because they all look like high school graduates and I hate the reminder of being THAT much older than everyone else in a room but as far as a place to just chill with a great group of friends – I give it a thumbs up. Whether you’re playing quarters, King’s cup or taking shots of soju(order the Skittles flavor!)…it’s definitely easy to get a wicked good buzz here. I haven’t tried much of the food here. At one occasion my friend ordered the bo luc lac. The beef was juicy but a little too chewy. It took awhile to break that meat down =P Wanna know something pretty addicting? The small plate of peanuts. The sweet and saltiness perfectly compliments the palate with a tall glass of Kirin. HOWEVER, they charged us for the peanuts! Probably because we kept ordering it but still… I think it was like $ 2-$ 3 a plate. WTH? If you despise smoking indoors, Asian crowds, a very limited alcohol selection and being kicked out of a place at midnight then Cloud 9 is not the place for you BUT if you like beautiful friendly servers, pitchers and pitchers of soju, over-priced peanuts and a pretty clean and laid-back setup then this place is right up your alley.

$ 2 beers! Went on a week night and it was dead. The only other people in there were these two guys, smoking inside even though there was a sign that clearly said No Smoking. They may have been the owner’s friends. My bf and I just wanted to hang out after dinner before his drive home to La Jolla and this was the only place open late. We felt bad just ordering a couple of beers so we ordered a couple of appetizers to-go for my lunch the next day. I got the fried tofu and the fresh green mango. Weird combo. Yes, but those were the only vegan things on the menu. Wild boar? No, thanks. Rabbit? Poor Thumper! Goat? Yikes. When we walked in, the TVs were all on full blast. The minute we sat down, the TVs were all muted and very loud music started playing. For our benefit? Who knows, but it made me want to go clubbing. hehe. The owner was super friendly. He was very patient with me as I asked him what he used to fry the tofu and what was included with the green mango. My bf pointed out that fish sauce is used in almost everything in Vietnamese cooking, so I had to make sure none was used in the things I ordered. Traditionally, you dip the green mango in fish sauce so I had to ask him to omit that. The green mango was different, but refreshing and tangy. The tofu appetizer should be an entrée! There was so much! It was crispy and had this orangey color that reminded me of sweet potatoes. They were garnished with scallions. I drizzled some soy sauce and it was a meal all on its own.

I pretty much dig this joint. It’s a kinda like cheers for anyone who went to La Quinta. Since I’m from Whittier I am a stranger. They sell beer and soju and there’s food. They condone smoking which is ok cause I used to. The girls are hooters like but of the Asian Persuasion. A decent place to go with a group. The service is pretty friendly unless your a creepy guy then they stay away from you. My wife thinks it’s okay place too besides the smoke. The only down side it’s not a full bar. But i have been there on an occasion where I bring a bottle or two to share with the party. It’s been fine. I visited last Saturday night and the joint was dead. Maybe this place is loosing it’s appeal. More Skittles soju for me.

This place has to be one of my absolute favorite quan nhau in Orange County. From the friendly, prompt service, to the amazing food — bravo! Everything I’ve tried has complimented the beer very well. It’s definitely on the loud, festive side, so leave the kids at home. The chef is a master at his craft. Bo Lu Lac has to be my favorite menu item here. The beef is succulent, juicy, and not overly cooked. Seasoned to perfection and cooked at the right temperature and time. Try their squid and mango salad. This blend of sour mango, and chewy bits of shredded, dried squid dance around your taste buds like a ballerina. Fried chicken wings. Nuff said. Highly recommended.

I would rename this place cloud 5 or 6 because it’s not quite at 9 yet. As soon as I walked in, I had this gut feeling that wasn’t pleasant. As Tiffany B already pointed it out, this is not a place of class at all. Everyone’s smoking, loud bad music, couples fighting and viet thugs mad dogging me. WTF mang. Anyways, the food was pretty good I must say. We got the calamari and fresh oysters and some beers. The calamari was so good and the oysters were fresh too so no complaints there. Sucks that they don’t have beers on tap, only bottles.GRRRRR. I hate the fact that they offer great beer-friendly side dishes but no beer on tap. I was stuck with overpriced bottled heineken @#@$%^!

If you have any type of class, this place is not to be visited. As another Unilocaler mentioned, the crowd consists of fobs, ABGs, thugs, wannabe-gangsters, & men old enough to be my dad. The food is ridiculously expensive although it isn’t bad. The first & last time I went there, the DJ was absolutely horrible & their TVs were showing a movie on TNT about sharks getting super smart & killing people. I thought that was a bit odd. This is a lounge so expect loud music & waitresses that don’t dress like the girls at the Vietnamese Cafes, but are definitely pretty. When I went here, pretty much everyone was smoking inside which I thought was oh, I don’t know, ILLEGAL in California. I didn’t see anyone get a fine, but then again the entire place was filled with smoke. The likeliness of you getting stabbed or shot on a scale of 1 – 10 is probably somewhere between a 4 or 6 depending on what day you go. Since this place isn’t located in Westminster, I’d say a 4. This environment is horrible & the place is a half way point from a bar/club/restaurant so it’s pretty dark & I’m pretty sure it’s dirty. I’m not really a fan of this whole«lounge» phenomena. If I wanted to eat food, I’d go to a restaurant. If I wanted to go to a club to dance, I’d go to a club. If I wanted to buy a drink at a bar, I’d go to a bar. The combination, in my personal opinion, fails. How in the world am I supposed to have a conversation with my friends with horrible music blasting at full volume? No one dances anyway. Would not recommend this place at all. You can eat any of these appetizers & entrees at any place in Little Saigon for half the price.

in the interest of trying something different, my friends and i ventured out to cloud 9 to sample sea snails, frogs legs, mud clams, and other vietnamese delicacies. the sea snails are surprisingly tasty, thanks to the coconut milk broth. the frogs legs were battered and fried, which made them edible, but the meat itself was a bit on the tough side. the mud clams were really big and had a strong flavor we weren’t too fond of. we also ordered fried calamari(yum!) and bo luc lac(cubed beef) which was okay, but i’ve had better. overall, i don’t think i’d go back. the food is pretty expensive, and although we were there for happy hour, cloud 9’s happy hour isn’t all that happy.

I’ll always love Cloud 9, the food, the drunken experiences, the loud ear drum blowing music, the great service by pretty girls. There are different girls that work there everyday so try out different days! Ok yes people the food is a bit expensive but the quality is GOOD. The Bo Luc Lac is THEBEST here… I especially love it with Mi. Have some Soju to wash it all down, dance around in the aisles and then go throw up in the bushes later. If you live in Bolsa, chances are you will run into everyone and their mama here. There are ALL ages and ALL kinds of people such as business people, party people, nerds, family people, etc. This place is clean… the bathrooms yes are a bit dirty but only because THEPEOPLETHATGOHERE can’t clean up after themselves! Try going to any other quan nhau and search for a clean restroom! Anyways, great dishes to try: Mi Bo Luc Lac Mi Xao Thap Cam Canh Ga Chien Mam Tom Hap Toi Goi Ga Oc Len Xao Dua Hot Pots! Lobster and Crab Grilled Oysters Ca Hap Oh and I’ve celebrated my birthday here twice and it was way more fun than going to a club! Just make sure you call and reserve ahead of time!

Thank you Vietnamese people for coffee shops with girls in lingerie, bikini tops as casual wear, café sua da, smoked filled rooms, making squatting an acceptable way to sit, and Cloud 9. I was initially taken here by my friends Viet friend Tina who also works here… I should also say her service is phenomenal and unbelievably great(she might read this… including this part which may possibly kill the sincerity, so I should also say you were also looking hot). It’s supposedly classified as a lounge, but the food is very good. Ordered the steamed shrimp(steamed to lock in the nutrients), snails in some coconut base(slimy, but I get a kick out of seeing chicks eat it), chicken wings(no hormone pumped up wings here. Just really crispy and good), calamari(crispy), mud clams?(love the toppings of hot sauce, peanuts, and scallions?), bo luc luc(really good), yogurt soju(not my drink of choice), and Newcastles(drink of choice). Several pitchers and a couple beers later turned out to be $ 160 w/o tip… du ma!

Cloud 9 is not a nice place to hang out, IT’S A GREATPLACEFORANYONEOVER21YEARSOFAGE! Well let me take a step back. Please do not show up if you are over 40. ha ha… j/k This place is awesome! The food is amazingly good. As an ex In-N-Out Burger employee, I am pretty picky when it comes to presentation, cleanliness, quality, freshness, fririendliness, and a fun filled environment! The girls there are not only beautiful but are also super attentive and friendly. I don;t know how they can spot it but they always know it the minute i’m out of beer. If you are thinking about going to Cloud 9, bring a lot of girls so you can make it a better environment for me. =) When you get there, I suggest everything on the menu. But if you have a small group then I’ve added suggestions below. Beer/Wine: 1. Yogurt Soju(delicious, but a creeper if you have more then 3 pitchers to yourself-TRUST ME) 2. Raspberry Soju(great for the guys) 3. And of course, BEER!(Budweiser, Bud Light, Corona, Heineken, Newcastle, etc.) Food: 1. Grilled Blood Clams 2. Filet Beef cubes 3. Seafood Soup(Lau) — this is accomodated w/rice noodles and other vegetable sides Food(for the non-squirmish): 1. Roasted Quail(Chim) 2. Filet/Grilled Rabbits 3. Shrimp(Sashimi style) 4. Fried Frog Legs Well, whether you just want to pay them a visit or you wanna go every week, once you show up to this plasma filled friendly environment and ‘Cheers’ type place, once you go 9… you’ll want to leave all the other restaurants behind. YOOO…

2.5 Stars Not my cup of tea. Kinda cheesy for my taste. but I’ll give it an additional star for the sweet waitress.(and that’s single not plural) This place wants to be hip but can’t. There’s just something about the venue, lighting, and environment that ummm. is lacking? I can’t really pin-point it since the music/bad karaōke wannabe idols was blasting in my ears to the point where I was screaming my conversation to the bestie sitting right next to me, lol. They serve Vietnamese dishes,“fusion appetizer”, beer, and flavored soju. And no you can’t smoke inside this establishment(or smoke at your own risk =) which is practically what everyone did) unless you want a $ 200? fine. and yes, unfortunately I had to witness 2 people from the next table get a write-up. =( Parking– Plenty, it’s located in a strip mall Restrooms– Dirty, apparently girls can’t aim too. Or was it the idiot guy(s) that decided to use the female restroom while a female(s) was/were still inside, lame. Crowd: Mixed– fobs, thugs, and old dudes almost old enough to be my dad.

Maybe I wasn’t into the mood, but I really think this place is overrated. The atmosphere felt like a club, the music definitely made it sound like one, but the girls are all about Viet café style… except they look incredibly young… or I look incredibly older next to them. The people are all the trendy Asians sporting name brand, seeing who can outdo who. The tables are high and the deco is minimal and posh. My friends love this place, but I think the air is just a little too snobbish for me.

Expensive! Drinks and Food are way Expensive. I would give the price 1 Star. Atmosphere is very nice – 5 Star Crowd-This would be a five star if I was 16 and had a fake ID. Food-I can’t even remember what we ordered. Sushi? What was kinda cool is that they bring you out peanuts to snack on. This is a great place if you are in your teens. But if you are in your teens, how do you afford eating here and getting your buzz on? Oh yeah, you can’t even get your buzz on because if you are a teen, you are not 21. I did like the music and the videos. Everything was pretty clean and our hostess was pretty cool.

Good Food(bo buc lac), Good Drinks(try any of the soju!), Good décor, Good Cheap pricing(except for that 20 $ soju everything else is priced well), Good loud music to drown out other people, good times with Cloud 9! One gripe about this place, they close pretty early(midnite during the week).

How do you explain this place in non fobby english? It has vietnamese bar style appetizers and is probably has the best food compared to all the other same style restaurants. Good Stuff 1. bo luc lac 2. soft shell crap 3. seafood hot pot(lau)
