Very clean, good service. Bun bo hue was good, banh beo and banh bot loc wrapped in banana leaves we’re delicious.

Dining here was one of my most memorable experiences while visiting Little Saigon, and here’s why: 1. Excellent banh beo chen or rice cakes with flavorful fish sauce. The chewy texture of the little round discs was delightful. Hue Oi’s version of banh beo is thicker than I’m used to, but it was still very pleasing to the palate. A must. 2. Their banh canh tom cua, or udon soup with shrimp and crab was AMAZING(all caps because they deserve it.) Didn’t know that Hue has its own rendition of this popular soup. Made with a shrimp stock, the noodle soup is composed of these unique, see-through, and chewy Vietnamese style udon noodles, lump crab meat, shrimp, and a shrimp/crabmeat paste combo. The broth was so seafoody, umami, and comforting. May even say it’s the #1 version of banh canh I’ve had to date. Love, love, love. 3. Moist, irresistible Vietnamese pastries. Their banh bo or sponge cake was one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s probably better than most of the ones I’ve had from bakeries in my area(DC). The cakes were not too sweet, buttery, soft, and addictive. Besides the great eats, Hue Oi is also noteworthy for its cleanliness(not just a hole-in-a-wall) and fast and polite staff. They were very attentive and quick to get our orders and bring out other things we asked for(extra bowls, spoons, etc.). From what I gather, establishments in and Little Saigon aren’t known for their service, so we were pleasantly surprised. For superlative central Vietnamese dishes(and other regional specialties), make Hue Oi part of your food itinerary.

Their egg rolls are pricier than other egg rolls but they look different(more thin and long… like taquitos) and taste REALLYGOOD. It comes with lettuce to wrap around the egg roll and a dipping(fish sauce). I also tried their garlic noodles with shrimp, and anything with garlic and butter automatically wins my heart. It’s not overpowering and super delicious! Need I say more? I forgot the name of the the third dish I ordered, but there was a medley of flavors. It included banana sprouts, roasted peanuts, baby clams, greens, and rice. Everything tasted good together but as I was reaching the bottom of the dish, I realized I didn’t mix the greens well enough because the fish sauce flavor was a bit too dense towards the end. Overall, portions(except for egg roll) are great, yummy, and worth the price. Service is mediocre in my opinion.

I’m giving this business 3 stars only for the food! The food here is delicious by far the best blood soup I’ve had!!! However the service here is just horrible!!! We had to ask 3 different servers for refill waters, our appetizers came out after our food when we specifically asked them to bring out the appetizers first. Not only that ~ we also got our bean sprouts/basil leaves/onions halfway while we’re done eating our soup !!! It sucks because we loved the food but the service was just horrible !!! Seemed like non of the servers spoke English :(we will not be returning !!!

I decided to try Hue Oi after I heard a couple friends mentioned that they have eaten here before. I love Central food so I ordered bun bo hue, mi quang, com ga roti and banh canh tom cua to share with my family. Each dish is around $ 7 – 7.50, which is reasonable for the price. Here’s my take on the food: Bun bo hue — good but very little broth soup Mi Quang –Why would mi quang has ¼ boiled egg in it? Definitely not authentic Com Ga Roti — the rice is very dry, hard to chew Banh canh tom cua — nothing special. Ngu Binh and Vy Da have better banh canh tom cua. I gave this place a chance, but I will not be back.

Been here a couple of times. Never really crowded. It is open and airy. Service has been good. Food was central Vietnamese hence Hue. Overall impress of the food is that it is solid. Adding another star just for their soda chanh. I dig theirs

My favorite hue restaurant by far. I love the banh Canh bot Loc, nem lui, banh beo Chen, com am Phu and banh uoc thit nuong xa. Everything is tasty n has enough flavoring. The place is very Clean and parking is easy to find here. The soup don’t have msg like other restaurant. Must try if you are in the area or want some quality hue food.

On this current trip back to visit«home», my mom wanted Hue cuisine. Looking up reviews, we were going to go Ngu Binh. Since we woke up late, and found out the wait was going to be a long one, we decided to go to Fountain Valley to Hue Oi. Walking in it wasn’t too crowded, there were definitely other diners there, but nothing crazy. The décor and ambiance of the restaurant was tastefully modern and decorated with pictures of Hue. The staff were friendly upon walking in. We ordered the following: Banh Beo Chen–(steamed rice cakes topped shredded shrimp, and pork cracklings and scallions): it was made fresh to order, and came out hot. We thought it was good, and the nuoc cham had good flavor, neither too sweet or salty. Banh Loc La–(steamed tapioca dumpling with shrimp and pork wrapped in banana leaf): this is one of my other favorite Hue dishes and it didn’t disappoint. Tasted good, and fresh. Bun Bo Hue– My mom enjoyed her bowl, she said the aroma and flavors were spot on. She was very happy to receive shredded banana blossoms on her plate of garnish. It wasn’t spicy enough so she added the chili sate sauce in. Banh Canh Tom Cua– They give you a choice of tapioca noodles or rice. I chose tapioca of course. The banh canh was very flavorful, full of crab and shrimp, along with what the menu calls crab quiche but it was more like a homemade crab/shrimp ball. I liked it alot. Service was friendly, not slow at all. The folks here are quite nice.

After hearing great reviews online and friends, I finally decided to try it. Ngu Binh is my favorite place for Bun Bo Hue and Mi Quang, but it’s always crowded, so I was hoping this could be my new place. Banh Beo: smaller than I expected. Pretty good. Fish sauce isn’t too salty. Bun Bo Hue: great aroma. Good size. Decent taste. Still can’t compared to Ngu Binh, in my opinion. Mi Quang: they give you the broth/sauce on the side, which is great because usually some places will give you too much or too little. It was pretty good. Comparable to Ngu Binh. Overall, good customer service. Decent food. Will come back to try the Hell Rice.

LOVE Hue Oi. Love it. One of the most traditional but modern Vietnamese restaurants you can go to — if that makes any sense. The place is clean and updated, but the food is cooked with that home-cooked goodness. Love the Banh Beo, Mi Quang and Bun Bo Hue.

3 stars for the food. 1 star for the slow service. Been here a couple times and the service is constant… slow. Even though I have sat by the front each time, but the servers like to walk by without taking our order. 5 minutes later or we need to flag down a server. The bun, banh beo, and bun bo hue are pretty good here. They have beer as well so it’s a decent place to grab a bite to eat and knock back a cold one.

Hue oi hue ahhhhh! This place is becoming one of my go to places for bun bo. The broth is so rich in flavor! And the assorted meats in the bowl is an artistry of its own! Hue oi you’re a force to be reckoned with ! And the best part is I don’t have to deal with bolsa drivers to get to you. Say good bye to hang overs!!!

Bun bo hue and banh beo Chen is a must try here. I think it what they are known for. Love the meat ball in the bun bo hue. The soup base has depth of flavors. Yum is all I can say. Banh beo Chen is a great appetizer. Pour in a little fish sauce and add fresh cut chili and it perfectly spicy and delicious.

Came here because one of my co workers couldn’t stop talking about how great their banh canh is. Funny thing is that I didn’t even order it when we ate here. Onto what we ordered: –Tre: I’ve heard about this dish many times before. The best way to describe it is that its like gio thu minus all the extra stuff. My first initial bite was it was kind of weird tasting and I’m sure it is because I’m not use to the taste. But after a few bites it didn’t taste so bad. Would I order this dish again even though it’s $ 3, no I wouldn’t. It would be wasteful because I didn’t even finish it. Maybe if I went here with a few other people than yes I think I might order it again. –Banh Beo Chen: This dish was ok. The nuoc mam was very bland as well, you would think it would have more flavor considering it’s fish sauce. And the chili’s that they put in it, weren’t even spicy at all. To me, Quan Vy Da makes it way better. –Bun Hen: Again, this dish was ok. Nothing impressed me about it. The baby clams were bland and so was the sauce. –Mi Toi Bo Luc Lac: This dish was clearly the winner of the night. The meat was very tender just a tad over salted. Garlic noodles were perfectly cook and had the right amount of garlic flavoring. So would I come back to this place, I think I would only because I still haven’t tried the banh canh. Until next time. Happy eating, Unilocalers!

I must be really used to eating a lot of Southern Vietnamese food. I did finally tried their popular Banh Beo Chan appetizer that had rice flour cakes with bits of fried pieces with shrimp that you pour fish sauce over it. I didn’t think it was very tasty and I shared it with a Vietnamese friend. Also I had the # B4 Bun Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio vermicelli it was ok. I think too much fish sauce really ruins the flavor of some foods unless you really love fish sauce pour it on. I don’t care for too much charcoal flavor foods so if the beef I ate was less charcoal flavor I would have enjoyed it more. I usually don’t order vermicelli when I know they like to charcoal the meats so that is what I don’t like. I just need to try other foods at this restaurant when I know there are some good favorites. I’ll find something a little more common that I am familiar with next time I dine here. This cuisine is a different part of Vietnam when the food is a little different how it is served. They do have common dishes. I had the Bun Bo Hue Dac Biet traditional soup and a drink it was ok. I think I would have prefer to try something else that was out of the ordinary on the menu here. I am used to eating either PHO, rice dishes, egg roll, spring roll or the egg crêpe when I have Vietnamese food. There is so much food to try everywhere. There is no end to eating too. If you’re not Vietnamese maybe do some research on the cuisine. Maybe bring a friend that is Vietnamese to familiarize yourself with the food. This restaurant is really hidden from the street when its in a small plaza with shops and restaurants

I would say this place is a hidden gem in fountain valley! As a non-vietnamese, I usually order phở or vermicelli at Viet restaurants but Hue Oi food was absolutely amazing and it changed my perception of vietfood. The place is pretty big and super clean. waiters/ushers were very friendly! And the pictures on the tv screen and menu definitely helped us to choose what we wanted to try, and also they stirred up our appetite. Everything looked so delicious!!! My friends and I ordered the followings: Appetizer: stir fried baby clams with rice cracker and Banh Beo Chen(our favorite) Entrees: hue style grilled pork with thin rice cakes and Tapioca noodle soup with crab meat. First of all, we all freaking loved Banh Beo Chen. It’s like a small rice pancake topped with savory ingredients such as dried shrimp, crispy shallots, and fish sauce. So delicious! i think im going to order this every time I come here. Baby clams were pretty good too! It was fun to eat with the rice cracker :) I really loved their marinated pork. It was so tasty, not to salty or sweet– it reminded me of Korean short ribs but I like Hue Oi pork better. Also the soup was really good. It was perfect for the chilly night and there was a lot of seafood in it as well. And tapioca noodle was very chewy and tasty! Overall, we had a great dinner and service at hue oi. I am for sure coming back here again to try all their menu! Can’t wait :)

Try the TRE! $ 2.50+tax/each. They are up by the cash register. So what is tre? It’s like head cheese with all the bits of a pig’s head… ears, cheeks, etc. But it’s not packed tightly like head cheese though. The porky bits in tre are seasoned with garlic, galangal, chilies, salt, pepper, fish sauce, sugar, vinegar/lime, pulverized roasted rice(which keeps the bits from sticking together)…did I miss anything? Probably. I’ve never made this dish on my own. I’ve only assisted. All I know is, it’s A LOT of work. The end result is so worth it though! Savory… sour…spicy… Great snack with beer or any other adult beverage really! I’m glad Hue Oi makes a darn good version of it so that I don’t have to labor all day in the kitchen when I want some Tre. As for their other offerings, I am a fan! I especially like the Hen(stir fried clams). I prefer it with the noodles. I enjoy the combo of the fried clams with the peanuts, fried pork skin, banana blossom, cabbage, & herbs. I usually ask for some shrimp paste, sate, & limes because I like it just so. A little doctoring gets it to just how my Hue aunties make it. I wish green, sour star fruit was readily available year round. THAT would make the dish as good as it gets! But, as it is, it is quite satisfying. The owners and staff are always pleasant and don’t take offense to anyone asking for a little more of this or that to enhance their dish. They understand that everyone’s palate is different. If something is not to your liking, let them know. They will do what they can to make things right for you. The most important thing to keep in mind when coming here is to remember that this is a HUE restaurant. It’s in the name, folks. Not all Vietnamese cuisines are the same. For a tiny country, there ARE regional differences. Come and explore the flavors of Central Vietnam here. And pick up some tre on your way out :)

Hue Oi is located away from the hustle and bustle of most Vietnamese establishments in Westminster. My sister and I ordered the following: –Banh beo –Bún bò Hue –Bánh canh We enjoyed the banh beo, but then again, it is one of those dishes are is hard to mess up. The bún bò Hue was pretty good. I felt like the flavors were a little muted and the broth didn’t have the usual kick that bún bò Hue generally has. The bánh canh was, again, also pretty good– nothing to write home about but a good, solid bowl. I like Hue Oi. The lines are next to none, the prices are reasonable, and there is ample parking. If you are hankering for some Hue food, and you don’t want to deal with the crowds to some of the more popular Hue joints, Hue Oi is a good alternative.

Came here because I wanted to see what became of the restaurant that my friend owned years back and where I spent my college years helping him manage. First time I was excited because I love hue food. The restaurant changed dramatically from what I remembered it. It’s actually very clean now, color coordinated, and the huge difference… It was empty! I had bun bo hue, the most commonly known hue dish. The dish was not memorable. I also had the hen xuoc banh trang which was nothing special. I remember disliking it and not wanting to go back. Well I came back months later. Wanted to eat somewhere local. Why don’t I ever learn from my experiences? I ordered the bun bo again. And I told myself I would never eat bun bo anywhere else but Cong Ly! It was SO bland that when I took a bite of the noodles, it seriously just tasted like hot water and noodle, no flavoring. I swear the instant noodle cup has more flavor than this dish. I even had to add satay and I never add that stuff because I can’t eat spices. It didn’t help much. Just tasted like hot water with satay. On the plus side, the banh beo Chen was decent. Service is always good. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to eat good hue food though.
