Jack’s German Auto Service

Sadly my ’96 Mercedes C220 had a slipped belt and needed additional repairs. It’s an older car, I drive it 40 miles a day, I expect wear and tear. The water pump started leaning (according to Jack’s ‘most likely scenario’) and the belt slid off. Nip, tuck, new belt, new water pump, and a heater hose later, I’m $ 1000 out of pocket but the car runs nicely. Also, Jack did the repairs very quickly so I didn’t have to give up time with my grandson and didn’t have to take the bus to work (which is a horrifying business of many hours just to get into Long Beach from Santa Ana.)

Jack got our 2010 VW Passat running like new!!! He’s highly reliable and honest! What we thought was 2 – 5 days he got us running in less than 2 days!!! I’ll be using Jack’s again hopefully not any time soon! Lol!

Everyone working here very kind, thoughtful, and have experience! Fair price for the work we had done on our Porsche Carrera Cabriolet.
Also there is an excellent car wash next door!

Even though my 997 ran well. I decided to have Jack give it the once over.
I looked through all the receipts and decided I wanted a basis to go off.
He did the transmission service, did a motor service, oil change, plugs, etc. He found a few items that needed to be replaced. He also replaced the serpentine belt.
I am sure I am missing some things. My point is the car ran incredible well when I picked it up.
He called me daily and discussed the progress. I am more happy with the car than ever.
Jack also have my old Mercedes. I drove it up to pick up the 997. He is rebuilding the air conditioner system and I am sure it will be great, as usual.
I feel it very important to give credit the those who go way beyond the repair.
Jack is one of those people who do much more every time.

Jack is great… Henry is the man… top notch shop… Not cheap but, not over the top.
A well rounded shop with no slight of hand. ask a question and you’ll get an answer and they don’t mind helping you understand your euro car needs.

My husband and I had taken our BMW’s to dealers and other «specialty» mechanics in the past and either felt like we were overcharged or didn’t get the repairs done properly. We were so happy to find Jacks German Auto Repair several years ago. Jack and Henry are both very friendly and knowledgable. Our son now takes his car there as well. All of us have always been happy with their service. We won’t take our cars anywhere else.

I returned to Jack’s German Auto Service to repair my front cracked control arms and bushings for my 2003 BMW 325i Sportwagon. I was advised by Jack and Henry about six months ago to save up and change these control arm bushing before I change my front tires otherwise it would be a waste of new tires. They cracked control arms would lead to fast wear, uneven tread. I called in on Monday and was greeted very nicely by the receptionist lady. She checked with Jack and make sure they had time to work on my car that day. I made an appointment for the same day and came in about 30 minutes later. I dropped off my car since I happened to have a ride to take me back home in Irvine. The repair was quick and was completed by the late afternoon. I was stuck at work and couldn’t find a ride until the next morning to come pickup my car. When I arrived the next day around 9am, my car was clean and ready to go.
I paid my bill quickly and could immediately feel the improved steering control. I drove down to Just Tires and replaced my tires. BTW, since I had the purchased the other two tires there I had to buy the rest of the tires there in order for them to honor my 3 year alignment and rotation I had purchased earlier. Anyways, my tire center called me to inform me that my brakes were done and that my air filter was filthy and needed to be changed. I was little confused because Henry had done a full inspection and my car and did not recommend any other services. I called back to Jack’s German Auto and Henry kindly explained to me that they (Tire Center) were merely informing me that my brakes are less then 50% percent however they do not need to be changed until the service light comes on in the car. I really appreciate the honesty and explanation the Henry the BMW expert offered me at Jack’s German Auto. As a freelance musician I am living week to week and cannot afford to spend money on car parts which do not exactly need to be replaced, it is at 40% based on Henry’s estimation and I should be good for 3 more months. He suggested that I might as well use the brakes to their full capacity but some vendors are authorized to recommend service once it’s just barely past 50% use. What about the other 50% you can use brakes up to 80% safely then change them and save considerable money. I’ll return to change my brakes once they light comes on, or if I feel the brake pedal needs to be pressed in further or harder. I do hear some squeaking but that is just break dust. Henry informed me that I would still have 1,000 miles to repair the brakes even after the light comes on.
I highly recommended to call and make an appointment with Jack’s German Auto. It has been a wonderful experience for me in the last 4 repairs and I still have a few bucks left to pay this months credit card bill… Unlike the cold corporate service I would get at the dealership in Newport Beach. I highly recommend using this family owned service center!

This review is way overdue. I’ve been coming here for many years to get services done for my bmw. Henry and Jack are awesome. Straight up honest service and very knowledgeable. I currently have my turbo 332is sitting there getting some much needed work. I also have my M3 that I bring in for service too. Prices are way cheaper than the dealer and you get what you pay for when it comes to other repair facilities.
Every problem I have with my vehicle they have always found a way to alleviate the problem and I have never had a bad experience. I’ve spent quite a bit of money but it was well worth it, otherwise I wouldn’t be coming back. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who has a german automobile. Both Jack and Henry are ASE Certified techcians with a combined 30 years experience in the industry.

I moved down from San Francisco 4 years ago, and up there I thought I had the world’s most honest and intelligent Mercedes mechanic. When I had my first mechanical problem with my 300td after the move to OC, my old mechanic diagnosed the problem by phone and told me what the part and labor should come to which was a $ 60 part and a half hour of labor. I called around town to EVERY Benz or European motor place in a 20 mile radius, and they ALL inflated the cost and estimates ranged from $ 275 to $ 700. Only Jack’s told me the EXACT same thing as my old mechanic, and he only charged me $ 120. When I came in, I also found him to be very intelligent, knowledgeable, and easy going. Every time I’ve come in to get work done, it’s been done quickly as I waited, and every experience has been pleasant and their work has been excellent.
I’ve continued to crosscheck him with my old mechanic in SF and Jack always says exactly the same thing in his diagnosis and price, showing just how honest Jack is. I highly recommend them.

It’s always hard to find a reliable, honest mechanic… but Jack’s German Auto is a hidden gem… I always take in my BMW to them and I know they will not try to up sell me for anything I know I don’t need. And being a female I always appreciate this since other mechanics have tried to talk me into service I really didn’t need. I can trust when I go there that they will only suggest maintenance I actually have to get.

Excellent Service and comparable pricing

I’ve used Jack’s German Auto twice to perform major repairs on my 2007 BMW 530i and had great experience on both occasions!
These guys are highly knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to German automobiles! Their prices are reasonable and well below what you would be paying at a BMW dealership. However, if you are really short on $$, you could find cheaper mechanics in the area. But, what you get with Jack’s German Auto is peace of mind — in other words, when you leave your car with them, you will know that you are leaving it in good hands.
Just this week, one of my ignition coils went bad and I took my car to some ghetto ass repair shop. The guy gave me an estimate for $ 475 to replace all spark plugs plus coils. However, the dude didn’t even know how to properly work BMW’s ignition — poor guy struggled for one full minute to take the key out. This suggested to me that the guy wasn’t familiar with BMWs. So, I made the wise decision to take my car to Jack’s, paid $ 800 and got the problem fixed. My car runs great now and they even gave it a great car wash to boot!
Moral of the story: you may pay a little more as compared to other shops in the area, but what you get with Jack’s is dealership-​level professionalism and experience at non-​dealership level prices!
I will definitely use these guys in the future for all my auto repair needs and would gladly recommend them to friends and family.

Jack’s German Auto has always been my favorite one stop Auto shop! I love Jack and Henry. They are super friendly and honest and always do whatever they can to make me happy. I’ve never walked out of that shop unsatisfied. Whether it be european, japanese, or domestic, every car I drive goes to Jack’s German Auto. I’ve been to tons of other shops where all the mechanics want to do is tell you about all other maintenance service they want to do on your car without really respecting what you want them to do. I’ve never had that problem at Jack’s. They always use Original Equipment parts and warrant their service. I will never go to another shop. Seriously, this is the place you want to go to for you car!

Recently visited a few Audi mechanic shops and Jack’s is the one that has impressed me the most. As soon as I walked into the office he greeted me and was attentive to my concern, offer to inspect the car, and gave me some hints that saved me a few hundred bucks, unlike the other shops I visited, he is only one who told me that the catalytic converter did not need to be replaced and gave a logical explanation to how the car computer interprets some of the check engine lights. He was the most helpful, personable, knowledgeable and professional of all. I am definitely going back and am glad to have found a trust worthy mechanic who will take care of my A6. I believe he is honest and recommend him to anyone looking for an experienced German car mechanic.

We have been bringing our classic and newer german cars to Jack, Henry and Andrew for many years. From our 1970 BMW 2800, my 1988 M6 to my wife’s BMW 650, the service has been excellent and honest. We are given options for each car depending on cost and longevity.

I have been bringing my BMWs to Jack for 25 years, since I got out of college, and needed an honest independent mechanic.
Jack keeps track of my planned maintenance in the computer, so we can get things fixed before I get stranded. And if my car is opened up, I always authorize him to fix any little leaky things, cracked hoses, and failing rubber gasket things… so I don’t get stranded.
Great place for women who are looking for a trustworthy place to maintain their car, especially their BMW.

Brought in my classic Porsche here. Jack worked on my car and made several catastrophic mistakes. I wish he would have said that he has no clue how to work on classic engines. I ended up spending $ 9000 to get the engine fixed after Jack got his hands on it. I should have done better research and found a place that specializes in classic porsches. Jack acted like he knew what he was doing, but didn’t.

Brought my Audi A4 here because I got tired of paying dealer prices now that my car is out of warranty. Jack diagnosed the problem and told me that it was a known problem and Audi extended the warranty. Told me to take it to Audi and they fixed it for free. Thanks Jack! Saved me about $ 1,500. Their honesty has certainly earn my future business.
