Hayes has a great waterfront view with a large balcony to sit on in the Summer. The bar area overlooks the lake and is fairly large. The staff has always been extremely welcoming and friendly and the food is good. We went there a few weeks ago on a Friday evening. I got a tilapia special which was really good and my husband got the fish fry, which was also very good. Great homemade coleslaw and the crab cakes were VERY good. It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Classic American Bar. Food is decent, good breakfasts, food is decent, but alcohol drinks are served in very small glasses and are very weak — if you want strong drinks you need to go to the Shores or Schaumburgs who are much more generous with their pours.

Hayes Resort is a great place for a relaxing, family vacation. The lake front cottages are comfortable, the restaurant has great food and service, and Fox Lake is great for fishing, boating, and swimming. The staff is incredibly thoughtful and always goes the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Interesting anecdote to give you an idea of how great Hayes Resort is: I took my family on a Disney Cruise through the Caribbean last spring and we went to Hayes Resort for a week in the summer. When my seven year old was asked to write a report upon returning to school about the most fun she’d that year, she chose to write about her time at Hayes Resort. Seriously, my kids would rather go to Hayes Resort than go on a Disney Cruise.

Horrible customer service from management after complaining about air conditioning not working. They never even apologized after a night without air. Incredibly rude. The cabins are filthy with huge spiders and spiderwebs all over the entire place. They are very low class and please DONOT stay here because you will regret it. We booked 2 nights and left after the first because it was that gross.
