I have only been here for lunch. One time I ordered from the menu, the other times I have had the buffet. In my opinion this is the best Indian food around the Framingham, Natick area. The price of the buffet is a steal for the quality of the food. The service has been great also. I would definitely continue to come back.

I don’t quite understand what this place has become. I was intrigued by their street food menu after their relaunch but that was a miss. It’s just average American styled Indian food now. Their buffet used to be so good.

Excellent food and great ambience. Only thing that put me off was the less quantity of the curries

I’ve eaten at this restaurant several times and have been very impressed with the truly outstanding Salmon and the nicely spiced Aloo Gobi. On this last trip earlier today the menu had changed. They currently have added some unusual items for an Indian restaurant like pizza and French fries with Indian flavored toppings like chicken tikka masala. They have expanded Indian snacks and cocktails. They still serve traditional Indian food, but with a smaller number of items on the menu. Unfortunately, the salmon is gone. We had vegetarian items and they were good. A few items on the menu, such as fish curry and ice cream, were not available and pickles and salad that were supposed to come with the meal did not. One constant in this restaurant throughout the menu changes is that service has been slow, even when there aren’t too many people in the restaurant. The service has actually been painfully slow on several occasions and this has made me reluctant to return. I feel like they are changing the menu in an attempt to improve their business when actually they would do better improving the service.

This was our first time at Saffron and we were very pleasantly surprised! We ordered the chicken Vindaloo and the chicken saag for entrees with Garlic naan. Also the vegetable samosas and a shrimp appetizer. Everything was delicious! We will definitely go back again and would order the same things but would also try something else. The staff was friendly and prompt. We will come back here before driving back to Needham to another Indian place!

If you are looking for a great Indian food place to talk to a friend and relax while having a great meal. this is a great place for classic spicy indian food. I am a family of 5 who whipped there plates clean. Great job with the food and also great friendly coustumer service. Although, it is a very quite establishment that may make you embarrassed when you drop or make a loud noise. classy but casual a world idea of class in presence of other human being.

Tucked behind a plaza, this place has super good food, moderate prices, and very friendly servers. Kind of an Indian restaurant that offers a few traditional pizzas and also has a basic menu for your picky children. Get it!

Just had an awesome meal here, again! My wife and I have had Indian in number of cities and Saffron grill ranks up there. A year or so ago the restaurant changed management and their name. We liked it before but it’s way better now. They have stepped it up. Don’t be deterred by the back of the building location. It’s nice enough inside and cozy. Tonight they had an Indian women’s social in the small banquet room which actually added to the ambiance in the restaurant. Tonight we had lamb mimosas, tandoori chicken(it’s a must order), yellow dal, shrimp biryani and nan. It was awesome. Throw in a couple big bottles of King Fisher and it was perfect. I’ve had the chicken curry a number of times as well and it’s awesome too. To top it off the bill came to $ 58 bucks and I have take home for lunch tomorrow. Give them a try if your looking for great food at a reasonable price.

I had been a long time customer of Saffron Indian Restaurant in Framingham. The food was always good and the wait staff and owner friendly. However, this weekend I went in and found that the delicious and reasonably priced buffet was replaced by various fried finger foods and pizza, with supposedly Indian flavors. The $ 11 buffet is now replaced by all a la cart menu priced around $ 14 up. The wait staff seem gone too. The remaining curry now seems to be very mediocre and the rice was extremely seasoned to be almost inedible. What a shame. They really had a good thing going. While I was there, many of their regular customers turned around and walked out when they saw the changes to the menu. If I want that kind of Indian food(?) I can go to the Natick Mall Food Court for less money. Price way up… food quality way down. Not a good combination.

I had been craving good Indian food in around Boston. I found my peace here. We had Kali Mitch k kabab which were the best appetizers I have ever eaten in USA. Their baingan ka bharta was great as well. Chicken balti was kinda disappointing! But overall good food!

we had the buffet and ordered food from the menu. the food wasn’t good, i ordered chat papri, shahi bhindi and a nan. Chat did not have the tamarind sauce, and had too much chat masala. the shahi bhindi(okra) was too salty and the nan was the dry. My partner didnot like the buffet. he said the food wasn’t good. Overall we wouldn’t recommend this place. We prefer Chinese Mirch down the road or the other Indian places in Westborough.

I love Saffron Grill I’ve been there at least 10 times. Whether I was there to eat or to seat, relax and have a bottle of wine with my friend this place has always been awesome. The customer service is superb I really mean that, the food is great. a lot of restaurant can learn from this place. The waiters and the waitress are very nice and welcoming. The manager makes sure his guests are enjoying themselves while they’re there. I’m not sure about some of these negative reviews but I can honestly say that I’ve never had an issue at Saffron. that s why i keep going there.

My favorite Indian place in the rte 9 area. The lunch buffet is very good. The naan is fresh and delicious. I regularly get take out from here. I like the chicken tikka masala, shrimp korma and veg biriyani. I don’t understand the neg reviews. The staff is very nice and the food is great.

I don’t know where my post went but here’s another review: IGNORETHELOWSTARRATINGANDTRYFORYOURSELF. This place is my go to favorite Indian restaurant whenever I’m in the area shopping. Especially on the weekend with the all you can eat buffet — SOMUCHVARIETY! There are literally like 12 different hot entrees to choose from, 4 different flavored/spiced rice, unlimited naan, etc. You can tell this place is good because it’s always busy! Much busier and consistent with business than when it used to be Bollywood grill.

I love Indian food, and tried this place today because the place I regularly go to was closed, and I was very disappointed. The service was horrible, and the buffet was poorly maintained. The rice was barely cooked, and everything else was really bland. The waiter never asked us if we wanted anything, and came over to the table only twice. I accidently dropped some food on the floor, and no one even touched it, it was still there after we left. I will not be coming here ever again.

Loved the food. We ordered garlic nan, peshawari nan, chicken tikka, and chicken korma. I also had a mango-tini. Everything was delicious. I was unsure at first due to the poor reviews but I’m glad I gave it a shot. I’ll definitely come again. The Nan was really fresh and the peshawari was not too sweet. The tikka wasn’t red, which means they used their own spices versus a pre made tikka spice. The korma was perfectly nutty and spicy. I would recommend this to anyone who knows real Indian food!

Note: I previously posted this review under the Bollywood Grill, but I am relocating it here. We ate here some time ago(Jan 2013), so things may have improved. — — — — — — — — — – After a change of ownership, the Bollywood Grill, now the Saffron Grill, has slipped. The food is stil OK, but other things need improvement. The environment was hectic. There were only two waiters, who desperately tried to keep things under control, while three owner/managers stood around and watched. Service was slow, but friendly. The kitchen is probably understaffed. My entrée came out only minutes after the appetizer. That was unfortunate, since it was the only thing that came out reasonably hot(although the sizzling platter should have cooked the veggies even more), so it got cold by the time my wife’s entrée arrived. Lastly, everything was lukewarm. The appetizer platter was tasty, but it seemed as though it was sitting around a while. I can understand certain things being pre-cooked, but pekoras(for example) should taste like they just came out of the fryer. In the end, the flavors are still pretty good, but for the price we’re not likely to eat in unless things change.

This place used to be great when it was Bollywood Grill. However since the new ownership«Saffron Grill» took over, I think its gone down hill. Some of that is the food, just isn’t up to bar with other Indian places in the area. The other was the mandatory 18% gratuity I recieved on my bill for a lunch buffet. For what? I got the food myself(from the buffet line), and I had to go to the bar twice to refill my own water because the waiters weren’t paying any attention to our table. Needless to say I will be finding another Indian buffet in the area now.

A disappointing Deja-vu experience! The other reviewer is right about this place replacing the old Bollywood grill– the tables are identical! We went in a large group(10 people) on Sunday night and the place was practically deserted. You would think that would make the service more willing to please us but think again. We requested that they substitute some of the white rice, that comes as a side dish with the entrees, with bread(else there would be 10 servings of rice alone!). Even after multiple coaxing attempts, our request was flatly denied. They even took the liberty of tailoring the rice amount that they eventually brought to us to much lesser than we should have gotten– we had to ask for more! Also, it annoys me that they have stopped serving cumin-flavoured basmati rice. The one they currently serve is a cheap substitute and I make better rice at home! Mixed feelings about the food: The appetizers were strictly OK– the vegetarian platter was quite good(great pakodas!) while the fish koliwada was just simply fried fish without the spicy tang that is ideally a characteristic. Entrees: The Kashmiri Lamb Rogan Josh was very flavourful as was the Malai Kofta. The Daal Amritsari also deserves a special mention– nice subtle balance of flavors. Overall, the service clearly needs some work, the food was good, but not the first place I would go to get my Indian food fix.
