Knowing I was going to be in the Franklin Park area today, I checked out the various offerings and settled on this place. Guess people don’t eat on Sundays because the place was closed tighter than a drum when I went there today @ 1:00pm. What’s more they don’t post their hours on the door. So I guess their attitude is we open when we feel like it and we’re closed when we don’t. Went to the Burger King down the street. At least I got what I expected.

Since moving to River Grove, I have been in search of a great bacon cheeseburger. Nothing gigantic but flavorful and fulfilling. Well this place definitely did not fit the bill. And finding a hair in my coleslaw put a stop to me ever giving this place another chance. I’m quite sorry about it too. I would really like to frequent a non-franchise, family owned establishment when we feel like eating out. I really thought this was going to be the place after seeing their smörgåsbord of menu offerings but guess not!

If you’re passing through Franklin Park, or work in the area, Odie’s is a perfect lunchtime spot. Their menu has all your grease-pit favorites, and then some. Breakfast and desserts are also served, with free refills on fountain drinks. My personal favorites are the Chicken Breast Sandwich, the Cheese Burger, and last but definitely not least, the fresh cut fries.

I live maybe 2 minutes at most from Odies, so you would think I’m a regular over there, right? Hell no! I gave Odies 3 tries to provide me with a decent meal and they just couldn’t do it! The last time i was there, i ordered a gyro(supposedly one of their«Specialties») The damn gyro was raw on the spit. They carved out a portion for my gyro and threw it on the grill. Wait what? Yeah, that’s how they cook gyros. DISGUSTING!!! Let’s get to their fries. Real, cut potatoes with the skin still on is my second favorite fry-type behind only the beloved Krinkle style. I was pumped when i saw Odies had the cut ones… at least until i tasted one. Just gross… overly greasy and just mushy… not good at all! Finally, the staff there is not very friendly and on that last visit, I had the pleasure of waiting until the lady behind the counter finshed disciplining her children over the phone, before i got to order. Nothing like being made to feel that your a nuisance when you are trying to order food. To the owners of Odies: Sell this place, close it or go to business school and learn the basics. KEEPIT!!!

Before drafting this review i read some of the others. Maybe i hit them too early but i ordered a gyro and fries. The gyro was cut off the spit raw, weighed on a scale then just thrown on the grill to cook. The guy then took my pita off the grill and slapped a heaping spoonfull of gyro sauce on it, added the gyro, threw on tomatos which included the end with the stem, then just plopped a handfull of onions, not even cut properly right on there. By the time i got to my destination(about 3 minutes) the sauce was running everywhere and the pita was so soggy it barely held up. I couldnt even eat it as a sandwich. There was absolutely NOCARE that went into making this food. The best part was the fries. Wont ever eat there again and do not recommend.

High quantity does not mean low quality at Odie’s, and so far everything I’ve had of their crazy variety of food has been greasy and satisfying. I regularly get the hot dogs or pizza puffs, but the burritos and hamburgers are well made(if messy) and the jalapeño peppers are just great. For dessert Odie’s has, among other things, baklava — because why not.

I’ve been frequenting Odie’s since long before the current owners took over. They’ve been there quite a while now themselves and have continued to put out quality food. The food is very good overall, but they have certain things they do REALLY well. The ribs are fantastic and their homemade BBQ sauce compliments them perfectly. I can honestly say their ribs are better than Russell’s or any other place in the area. Also great are the Greek chicken, chicken gyros and shish-kabobs. I also highly recommend the skirt steak dinner or sandwich. The steak is tender, juicy, flavorful and cooked just right. The current owners are super nice people too and always happy to see you. I recommend you pass up the nearby chain restaurant options and get something here instead.

Odie’s Hit’s the Spot! I try to come here when I fly in since it’s close to the airport. You can’t go wrong with pretty much anything here. I’m a classic hot dog and fries guy, but I had the steak sandwich here and it was deli’ish! If they’re busy, something good has to be coming out of here! :)

They seriously deserve 0 stars for the incident that occured a few days ago. My wife had run up there to get me the rather tasty half BBQ chicken dinner and instead I got the greek chicken. I like the greek chicken but I wanted BBQ chicken. They also loused up my wifes food so she went back. At 8:30 they were closed when they are supposed to be opened to 9. That huge putz Jimmy has messed up several orders in the past and I’ve generally overlooked it. This time was the last straw. Instead of admitting the mistake he cussed up a storm insulting my wife in the process. I will be sure not to return there especially when far tastier and freindlier places like Culvers are here.

I have been going to Odies off and on, for 5 years. Only reason why is because there are so many huge fast food chains around this area, that a little spot like that becomes forgotten. But trust me when I go in and get my fav Steak Sandwich. Its always on point and never fails to full me up for the day. Service is great, the lady who takes orders, which I’m sure is the owner, is always nice and takes care of me. Food is made fresh and good. This is defiantly a great place to eat that happens to get over shadowed, buy the huge chains.

Hi, my name is Nektaria and I’m addicted to Odie’s. It’s got to be something in the fries that drives me insane and I find myself dragging people in there day after day! I’ve been there three times in seven days. So far, everything my friends and I tried have been great! Yummy burgers, delicious Greek salads, perfect shrimp baskets, awesome gyros… just try it. You’ll see what I mean.

I’ve been living in Franklin Park almost fifteen years, & I’ve only ate from Odie’s a handful of times. I don’t have a legit reason why. I just kinda forget the place is there sometimes. But on this particular day, I had a craving for an Italian Combo(Italian beef & sausage on a soggy bun). Instead of driving ALL the way to the Portillo’s in Northlake,(my usual destination when I crave the typical unhealthy american cusine) I remembered Odie’s was on my way home from the grocery store. So I stopped in & took home a greasy paper bag containing my Italian combo & fries. Needless to say, I got my fix & I felt MUCH better. The beef was so plentiful with meat that I almost forgot there was a sausage in there somewhere. I was also reminded how good their fresh cut fries are. Much better than the likes of Portillo’s. So with my belly full & the outside of my mouth burning from all the gardinera, I realized I have a new place to get my Italian combo fix!

Before heading out to Hala Kahiki for some tiki drinking action, I was advised to eat beforehand. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the«regular» dining option was closed and I was off to set forth and discover a new location. Lucky for me, I found Odie’s. I had the gyro special which came w/a mountain of fries and a drink. The gyro sandwich was hot and plentiful and the fries were, as mentioned previously, mountainous. If you’re looking to load up on food to prep for a night of drinking, Odie’s should be on your list. Not only is the food very tasty, it felt as though it’d do a helluva job combatting any and all alcohols it would later come across. It did. +1 for the awesome conversation I had w/the cashier about the finer points of CSI while we were watching the show on the flat screen TV.

Good food, especially the steak sandwiches. The cashier could be friendlier though.
