Great place to enjoy brunch! Busy but the staff still make you feel like you’re important. The food was excellent! The guacamole was superb. Chicken and waffles to die for… And breakfast tacos hit the spot! Well definitely visit again when in the area!

Summary: a little pricey and super busy but still one of our local favorites. We had the chicken and waffles parenthesis I would have done the hot chicken and waffles but one of my family does not like spicy). We also had the brisket nachos which was excellent. All in all a good option just generally quite slammed and not tons of food for the dollar… But you get a lot of flavor and creativity in what you do buy. If you’re looking for quantity of food by weight per dollar maybe Golden Corral is a better option.

Great bar. I’ve been here 3 times now, and all three times I’ve stayed at the bar. Drinks are sublime. Everything from a simple Tito’s and soda to their house crafted cocktails were on point. Bloody Mary was boommmmbbbb. And the bartender(who’s name is completely escaping me) is so sweet and attentive. Love him!

Good food and service. 5 on the sweet potato wedges. 4.5 on the 55 south po boy 4 on the shrimp and grits. less lime and it would have been a 4.5 or 5 4 on the char oysters the creamy part is good but the baked on cheese glopped it up 45 on the sweet tea 3.5 on the gumbo it was good but nothing special it didnt taste fresh made. All and all the recipes need to be refined to be a high five but its still a 5 overall .

55 South was fantastic. The food was great, and the beer was local. I visited this place with my parents when they visited me, and I was quite happy with everything. It was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, so my dad wanted to go pretty badly. Bar wasn’t lying. The server we had was Alanna, and she was awesome. She knew her menu, gave advice and was truly a cute southern bell.

I think the other reviews are pretty much on point. This is a cool little spot in Franklin. It would be a cool place to grab a burger, a beer and watch the game. The prices are reasonable and we were sat quickly even on a Friday night. We were in Franklin so we decided to do a date night. I was a little worried I was over ordering when I got the steak but I really, really enjoyed it. It had great flavor and didn’t need a sauce but it came with some remnants of the marinade, which were great. My wife got the brisket tacos. They were good but not the best tacos in town, although really filling and a good mix of brisket and toppings.

55 South 403 Main St, Franklin, TN37064 (615) 538‑6001 We stopped in for the Sunday brunch and had a great time. The Bloody Mary bar is awesome allowing you to fix it the way you want. All mixes homemade. We shared a dozen raw and a dozen grilled oysters both were juicy fresh and the pan sauce from the grilled oysters is amazing. Just ask for an extra side of bread for dipping. We then had our entrees which consisted of Nashville hot chicken, French toast, gumbo and finally shrimp and grits. All were hot and well prepared. The gumbo had a thick roux and was loaded with seafood. Nashville hot was spicy and not too hot. The shrimp and grits were cheesy and delicious. The French toast was French bread sliced on a diagonal seasoned with cinnamon and dipped then skillet fried. The service was fairly quick and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Had a long weekend in Nashville and tried a bunch of places. Loved the vibe in Franklin and consider ourselves lucky to have found 55 South for brunch. The seafood gumbo was good, although I would have liked to have kicked it up a notch. Wife got the last piece of quiche, but unfortunately, someone forgot to bake the quiche crust and while the filling was set, the crust was raw. Hard to believe the other 5 pieces of that quiche didn’t get returned, too… Oh well, my wife’s replacement for the raw dough quiche was the spinach salad with fried chicken on it. Holy cow was that some PERFECT fried chicken. Cooked a little dark on the outside, the inside wasn’t a bit greasy, and perfectly cooked — delicious! Love the vibe in the place, although it’s a LOUD place — and packed on a Sunday morning… Don’t worry about the wait, though. They take your cell number and you can wander around Franklin buying stuff you don’t need while you wait to eat. Prices aren’t bad, and they have brunch special pricing on their mimosas… What’s not to like?

Had a wonderful brunch with my family today. We walked in expecting a long wait, Bc there typically is on Sunday morning and we had a group of 7 but to my dismay we were seated very shortly after we put our name down. The hostess seemed fairly new and clueless, but the quickness was great! A few started with either the 2 for 1 mimosas or a ‘Build your own Bloody Marry Bar’. Then we tried the Nashville Donuts. the oil they were fried in was the same oil as the fries and seafood. you could taste the seafood in the dough at that point… couldn’t handle that. Our waitress was very quick to fix the problem and took it off our ticket, thank you for this! She was also very honest about the menu choices, love that. We had two at our table order the Hot chicken, I stole a bite of my sisters, yummy! The two others ordered he Eggs Saint Louise, that looked delicious. I order sides bc I couldn’t decide what I wanted, two eggs, cheese grits and fresh fruit. The cheese grits had an abnormal amount of garlic in them, not a fan of garlic. For those of you that like garlic, these would be right up your alley! Can’t wait to take others who visit us to 55 South for Sunday brunch, always a great local choice. We’ll definitely be back :)

Service was top notch, atmosphere was great and the food was good. The hot chicken left a bit to be desired but to be fair, we lived in Nashville for 2 years not far from Pepper Fire(a pretty big deal in the Hot Chicken ring). We had raw oysters as an app and I probably could have just eaten a few platters of those because they were amazing! Next time, I’ll order grilled oysters too. I had the grouper sandwich and would recommend that for anyone. All in all, it was a great Sunday brunch and hope to visit again soon. Very kid friendly by the way, all the servers were great with our 5 month old little girl.

WHATANAMAZINGBREAKFASTPLACE! Taking everyone that comes into town to this spot. if you’re into bloody marys this is the spot. Bloody mary buffet. The waiter gave us a glass with vodka and ice. And you then hit the buffet for your tomatoe juice, olives, bacon, shrimp. Whatever you may like. Not bad for $ 8.50 I ordered the steak and eggs. Meat was very tender and there was a lot for my portion. The dressing made my steak that much better. My boyfriend ordered the Huevos Rancheros. He also added chorizo. It doesn’t come with meat.

Ugh. I ordered the jambalaya and wife the spicy chicken sandwich. Just like on triple D’s. I also ordered the charbroiled oysters too. Maybe the hype from the show gave over the top expectations but the food was just ok. My wife said the chicken sandwich was ok and she might like the chickfila spicy sandwich better. I tasted it and in fact she might be right. Just kind of bland spicy taste. Oysters were good but it was missing something. I love oysters from Drago in New Orleans and these weren’t quite charbroiled as I like and greens that were on it was over powering the taste of oysters. Just not my thing and little disappointed. That being said, I’m not saying you should go. Just didn’t meet the hype of Triple D’s show. Hence 3 stars. Service was good and like the atmosphere.

Excellent surprise! Cool décor and atmosphere. Decent pricing. Service was decent, but could improve some. Family stopped in for an early dinner. Queso appetizer was great! Didn’t expect the New Orleans style menu. Gumbo was good. Chicken fried chicken was amazing and had a little spice to it without over powering it. Fries were some of the best fries we’ve ever eaten, and even those that didn’t order them were snatching them of others plates. The ones that ordered the double burgers and po boys said they tasted great. My brother ordered shrimp tacos and said they were the best ones he had ever tasted in his whole life. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and we all agreed we would return!

Downtown Franklin is super cute, and this place is as well. I was traveling from out of town and my coworker remembered this place from a previous visit. When we talked it, it looked pretty busy, but we scored a bar table within 2 minutes. Unfortunately, with the bar tables, the service isn’t the best. The bar tender had a full bar of people, but was also the one taking our orders. Thankfully he had 1 or 2 people running food for him, but otherwise it was pretty hectic. He did a great job, but I just felt bad for him. Anyway, we ordered the fried pickles and the chargrilled oysters to start. HOLYMOLY! YUM! Both highly recommended… as long as you aren’t on a diet. The oysters are covered in cheese and oil, but the taste is amazing. The pickles had a great coating, and the sauce served with them had plenty of flavor. Not super spicy. We both ordered the hot chicken sandwich, I had sweet potato fries and my coworker stuck with the chips. Let me tell you, this chicken is hot! The flavor was awesome. The pickles on top help cool it down a bit. I recommend asking for extra pickles, especially if you don’t get the mayo. The sweet potato fries were large and thick… I hate wimpy fries that get cold quickly. I was not disappointed with these either! However, the chips would have been just fine because they were definitely handmade. All together, I will return! I actually took home about ¼ of my chicken and its just as good the next morning(and I ate it cold!).

Wow!!! Had the shrimp and grits. My wife had grilled fish tacos. Best shrimp and grits I ever had. Fish tacos were good too. Well worth the 45 min wait on a Wednesday night. The waitress was wonderful. Very attentive without smothering us. Franklin is a wonderful town. We loved the whole visit. Worth the ride.

Stopped by on a random freezing weekend for brunch and immediately felt I’d been here before. Then it hit me: 55 South was in or very near the same location as Sol was. I liked Sol, so I was hoping I’d just transfer that to 55 South. So what was there to like? Let’s see… how about Shrimp and grits with a sauce reminiscent of red eye gravy with local bacon strewn about, Char-grilled oysters, ans a bag of «buttery» cake donuts? My next question could be «what’s not to like? « And not to mention endless mimosas that actually tasted like… mimosas. Imagine that. This weekend was a family affair so we also had samplings of the benedict with grilled asparagus and the French toast. The only gripe i could find was that the breakfast eggs were just passable. Nothing special… but then again, they were just eggs. All in all, the déjà vu aside… I’ll have to put 55 South on my bar tour when I return. Looks like there’s another place in Franklin besides the Red Pony that’ll grab my coins in the foreseeable future.
