It had been ten years since I had my vintage frames re-fit with new lenses at Different Frames of Mind and it was time for a new set of lenses as my prescription had changed. Ten years is a long time and I could not recall the name of the business, so I went to Unilocal and found the name. I also found only one comment and it was one star. I could not believe it. After ten years, I walked in with my glasses and the«blank lenses» that I was told to save ten years ago so that my prescription could be made without me giving up my glasses. Cheryl remembered me after ten years. She was glad I remembered her suggestion to save the blank lenses. Cheryl recommended a different method for the prescription on the lenses and I agreed. A week later, my new lenses arrived, Cheryl installed them and I was very happy with the new lenses. I used to wear contacts 90% of the time, but with my new job and different prescription, I’d be wearing glasses more and more, including driving to and from work. So, I needed prescription sun glasses. I was not looking forward to the added expense and frankly, I really just like my vintage frames. Ordinary one size fits all clip-on were not an option. Cheryl had the perfect solution. A company she represents makes custom tinted lenses that click onto your existing lenses with the help of two tiny magnets. It’s brilliant. It was also a lot less money than new prescription sunglasses. I’ve been to many shops that sell glasses and Different Frames of Mind was the only one that never tried to up-sell me out of my favorite frames and the only one that found a perfect solution to my sunglasses dilemma. Yes, this is a «Five Star WooHoo as good as it gets» kind of place.

My husband and I have purchased at least 16 pair of glasses(progressives) from the owner(Cheryl) over the years. And I just purchased another pair. Cheryl is consistently professional offering exceptional product and service with a smile on her face. She has picked out at least 8 frames for me and each one has received a ton of compliments. Love that! As for the lenses, she discusses the options and makes suggestions– suggestions that make sense for me and my budget. And as for adjustments, she is the best. She makes sure that the glasses and lenses are sitting right and that is no easy task and a task that no other place that I have been to has tackled as well. We live in Arizona now and rather than purchase my next pair here, I waited for a return trip to Franklin. When I went to purchase here, no one had the eye for frames like Cheryl or I could not find anyone that took as great an interest in picking out frames for me. As important, I have been unable to find someone that can adjust glasses like Cheryl. Even while we were living in Franklin, I had adjustments done in Boston that were never as good as Cheryl’s. My husband echoes my thoughts. Cheryl is top notch. I read David’s review. And then I researched the glasses he brought in– Warby Parker. While WBs are presumably good based on the high volume of sales, buyers beware: 21 out of 31 reviews on site gave rather poor reviews. They are fine but apparently not the greatest of quality. And with lesser quality anything comes some risk — in this case adjustment risks. It appears that David goes into Different Frames and gets offended when he hears some risk truths from Cheryl who is trying to make that WB purchase work for him. Cheryl does not have a mean or condescending bone in her body. I agree with the review from Bonnie H who, in part, stated that«the owner has infinite patience and a cheerful disposition…».

I was treated with such rudeness and condescension as a customer of this establishment I had to share my experience. I went in to this establishment to have a pair of Warby Parker frames adjusted. I paid for this service, While she did adjust my frames, while doing so I got an earful of how cheap the glasses were, how she would give these frames away for free, that«if I paid more the X dollars I was being ripped off», how it was illegal for WP to sell glasses in Massachusetts(I question her legal credentials). She had the gall to say«it was illegal for WP to sell glasses in Massachusetts because the mail carrier who delivers the glasses isn’t a licensed optician, otherwise he wouldn’t be a mail carrier.» I hope none of her customers have mail carrier friends or family. The height of her rudeness was when she told me never to bring my frames in her store again. No problem, I will absolutely never step foot in this establishment again. I imagine she is frustrated at losing business to online opticians and takes it out on customers of those businesses. Maybe she is nice to people who buy their frames through her, but I would not go here if you got your frames somewhere else. I love my Warby Parker( ) frames and will recommend them to anyone who wants a nice pair of glasses at a great value. I can’t say the same for this place. Even if I felt I could justify spending the extra 2 or 3 hundred dollars to buy glasses at a place like Different Frame of Mind, I will never come back again.
