Really poorly run restaurant. Had a reservation at 715; got there at 715 but then entry way was so busy we couldn’t get to the host stand. When we finally got there, they had given away our table to the party in front of us because«we weren’t there on time.» The host said he had called but I never received a call. Furthermore, there was only 1 host who was seating, bussing, and filling water. That meant that no one was greeting guests, and everyone’s reservations were behind. As a former host, I recognize that this is not the host’s fault. There was NO management in site. Very disappointing; hopefully they will make improvements!

I could not begin to give this place the kudos they deserve! From start to finish this place was perfect! We started with the cauliflower Tatars tots and crab cakes. Soooo good! Then we had the crab, grapefruit and avocado salad. It was perfect and fresh and light but such a decadent treat. Next my hubs had the«boully«and I had the special which was divine. It was clip(a white fish from Panama) on top of a crab and ham cake on top of a tri colored cauliflower. Seriously amazing. We were beyond stuffed but ordered the coconut cake which is the best I’ve ever had. On top of the incredible food, Jay was our server. He was charming and adorable and shared his knowledge of the food and some of the stories and history behind the dishes.(hence the cocktails, wine and dessert we didn’t plan on ordering!) It was a lovely place. We r thrilled to have a place like this to bring friends when they visit us! I would highly recommend Mack and Kate’s!

It was January 2nd and my husband and I were looking for someplace special for a date night dinner. We’ve heard several people talk about how good this place is so we thought we would give it a try. I checked out the menu online and got excited. I should have read closer. They were serving a different menu for New Year’s weekend. The items I got excited about were on the regular dinner menu. We started with the crab cakes. They were good but I’m not sure they were $ 17 ones. My husband ordered the Cherry Cola Braised Short Rib of Beef served with wild mushroom risotto. I ordered the award winning Shrimp & Grits. I took a few bites of mine and then one bite of my husband’s entrée. He preferred mine and I preferred his so we switched. Dinner was good but I was a little disappointed in the different menu and I guess I was expected to be really amazed by the food at these prices. Our server, Katherine, provided excellent service. The restaurant had a very romantic atmosphere. Maybe we will have to do another date night when they offer more entrees.

One of my favorite places to eat. Food is always great with super service. Décor is very nice. Even though it looks very French and nice, the wooden chairs in the restaurant are not very comfortable. That is it’s only negative.

4.5 Truly an enjoyable way to wake up on a Sunday morning. I had a friend in town for the weekend and we were going to be in Brentwood around brunch time on Sunday. Rather than racing back to Nashville to find somewhere to eat, I thought to look around the area for a suitable location. M&K’s was more than suitable; it was a terrific way to have the first meal of the day and re-introduce Franklin to my friend. As mentioned in other reviews, get a reservation. The space isn’t large and people in the area are familiar with the good vibe/eats so if you want to get a seat without too much waiting, plan ahead. The décor, vibe and food have a ‘classy country’ thing going on that will please a wide variety of patrons. From the adorable hutches that populate the space to the friendly(and accommodating) service to the familiar food that you probably couldn’t create on your own without an abundance of effort, M&K’s knows what it is and invites you to join in on the experience. Like I said above, we came in for Sunday brunch. I’m not much of a coffee person, so I started off with the fruit tea. I love that, in Nashville, tea comes either sweet, unsweeten or fruit. I think other parts of the country should catch up. The fruit tea was more crisp than cloying and I found myself wanting(needing) to guzzle a gallon of the stuff. Thankfully my waiter was up to the task of keeping me hydrated. He also catered to my appetite by bringing out an assortment of breads and butter to get something solid in my belly. Remember when I mentioned the ‘classy country’ thing? Get ready. For my main dish, I chose the crab cake stack with shrimp & grits. What? Yep. And, it was as decadent as you might imagine. The plate is a massive, sweet crab cake(stacked) surrounded by a lake of shrimp & grits. Rather than one or two shrimp to go along with the crab cake, I was pleased to discover a plate full of the sea bugs. The grits were creamy, buttery and just the right bit of cheesy. Take your time and savor this dish. For being landlocked, I was beyond impressed with the execution of the plate. Actually, forget the qualification: the plate is fantastic. Period. Get it. And the ‘classy country’ thing comes through, right? Crab cake + shrimp & grits? What? Plus, neither preparation are what your grandma(no matter how good she is in the kitchen) could come up with. You might be bored with the two dishes(as Southerners sometimes are). Don’t be. Order them. Because I’m not fat enough, I ended the meal with a slab of Derby pie topped with caramel ice cream. No.words. The pie was warm. The ice cream was cold. Both were extremely decadent(chocolate, caramel and pecans combined to Southern perfection). With every bite, all I could think about was how happy I was. Even though I’m a Kentuckian, I came to the Derby Pie game late in life(sometimes I just don’t get it). Had I been introduced to this combo, I wouldn’t have waited nearly so long. Despite this fantastically rich food, I didn’t feel like curling into a ball and passing out. I was more than full, but I wasn’t in pain or lethargic. Mack & Kate’s is worth your time, no matter where in the mid-State you might live. Just be sure to make a reservation before heading over.

This place is very small however, I must say that this is one thing in which size does not matter because it makes up with everything else! I find this place very homey and comfortable. It is well decorated with natural wood yet trendy, it has a nice ambience to it. Very romantic! The food… was amazing. The variety was a cornucopia of different tastes combinations and textures. Presentation was pretty and the service was excellent. I ordered the vegetarian sampler which included a variety of well seasoned vegetable dishes. The vegetables were perfectly cooked! They had a nice crisp to them without being overdone or underdone! If I were one of the little bears in a story this would be my «just right» dish to get! My favorite was the brussels, but let me share with you one more thing that makes this place extra special. It uses all local grown products! I wish I lived closer to Mack & Kate’s because this would be my to go to restaurant for dinner, you know the one where you walk in and the chef already knows you and the server knows exactly what you are going to get. It was a little pricey… but worth every penny! Loved it! Can’t wait to go again!

My husband and I were in Nashville for the weekend and stopped at Mack and Kate’s for a late brunch before hitting the road. I enjoyed the concept of upscale-cozy, but I felt the host and waiter were slightly snobbish. Our waiter was not very attentive and made us feel unwelcome. On the upside, the food was good, and the portions were filling.

My new favorite brunch spot. Food is amazing service is great and the ambiance is very cute. Ordered my usual steak and eggs it even had a side of fruit which added to the dishes appearance and also a side of asparagus. All my favorites on one dish. Of course to drink; a Bloody Mary! Boyfriend ordered crab cakes served with pouched egg and a great hollandiae sauce. Was very good although it was also too salty. Which is why I have it a 4. Definitely will be coming in again :) hopefully the crab cakes will be next on my order.

I had a lovely meal at Mack & Kate’s. The service was great. The lobster mac & cheese was awesome and I highly recommend the shrimp and grits. I went on a week night and did not need a reservation. Not sure if this place is unknown but I am sure it will get busier.

Mack & Kate’s is always a safe bet for a good lunch or dinner. I would say it is upscale Southern food, not unlike what you might find at other places. I definitely recommend that you make a reservation if coming in for dinner, because it does fill up and the pace of service is on the slower side. It’s a favorite for locals purely based on location alone. I found our service to be great, I just mean that people tend to linger and turnover of tables is not fast as a result. The wine list is good and the server was able to give me good recommendations. The décor is adorable, kind of like everything was purchased at a Southern Living shabby chic shop. For my most recent visit, I chose the House Meatloaf. It was good and tasty, but didn’t blow my mind. I preferred other dishes I have had during lunches, including their awesome mac and cheese. I love that their menu is seasonal and locally sourced, though it seems that’s everywhere in Nashville these days. My friend’s dinner was delicious and on point, with beautiful Brussels sprouts. What sold me on my recent dinner was ending with dessert. So many options! We chose a pumpkin pie slice for a chilly fall days and the whipped cream on our pie was sooo good. What a complement! Overall my meatloaf was 3 stars, but ambience, service, wine, dessert, and all bumped it to 4 stars. That said, I’ve had other meals here that were 4 stars for entrée too, so I feel confident in my assessment. I think parking is my least favorite part, as the tight lot is often full. But that’s a nice problem for a restaurant to have.

Came here for dinner on my birthday after reading the review on Unilocal. The environment is nice, but the service is super slow, we didn’t even have our own server, the bartender was serving us the whole time, he didn’t take our entrée order until we almost finished our appetites. Food was so so. I ordered a crab and avocado salad(2014 Winner Best Salad). It’s such a small plate, I had more bites of bitter grapefruit than crab meat and avocado. Totally over priced $ 18 appetizer salad! We also ordered Steak and Biscuits for $ 19, it came with 4 tiny bite size biscuits, each has a small slice of steak, the rest is all fries! It’s literally a kid’s meal! Very disappointed at the price we paid for the amount of the food on the plate. Won’t be back.

There’s this sense of being in some sort of classy environment like an art auction or a wealthy alumni donor function when you walk in the door as you’re immediately surrounded by older,(50-plus), well-dressed, wealthy looking white people. My friends and I charge in, obviously out of place but not self-conscious, though I did keep the profanity on pause and tugged down my shorts a little further to ensure full coverage of both butt cheeks. Those moves obviously paid off as we were welcomed warmly by the staff. EXQUISITE décor. It’s like something out of a page in Town and Country or Southern Living. Framed black and white photos of Paris from odd angles litter the wall, built in bookshelves gives it that living room edge. Fresh mini muffins with jam arrived at our table and were quickly shoved into our eager mouths within seconds. YUM! I swallow mine in one gulp almost like a Tylenol. I want more! Looked around for more but there were none. Just one tiny muffin per person and it’s like going to visit at your parents’ friend’s house when you were a kid: you suspect there might be more treats but knew better than to ask lest your mom gives you that stern look that says I’ma slap you later… sob* Soon the food came. I got the cheeseburger. A solid choice with a fried egg in it. The egg was not too runny and the burger was satisfying and tasty. My friend raved about her french toast and her husband seemed pleased with his steak and eggs. Definitely check this place out. Just try to behave yourselves and don’t wear anything too slutty.

The fried green tomato appetizer was okay, the homemade pimento spread was tasty but not quite sure it is homemade. I feel like I have tasted something similar to a grocery store brand. Crab-cake benedict, disappointing crab cakes didn’t taste like crab or anything for that matter, potatoes kind of blah. Alcohol not top shelf and kind of pricey for the quality of food. Cute place service okay not great. Expected a little bit more not sure I will be back, too many other places to try.

This was my first visit and we’ll for sure be back. Being a Saturday night, we went ahead and made reservations. Our table was ready when we arrived. I went with the Grilled Salmon. It was very light and well flavored. The chairs are not comfortable and the price for two to eat no drinks with tip adds up to $ 75-$ 80.

Wow this place is amazing! Was next store and popped over for lunch and I can not say enough great things. J who works there is attentive, funny and really is wonderful. And my food came out in nearly 3 minutes, and is so fresh. The cobb is sooo good. I got the southern Cobb and I will be back with no doubt. It is incredibly unique.

Visited here for the first time. Everything I tasted I enjoyed. I started with the house salad. It was very tasty featuring feta, dried cranberries and a tasty house made vinaigrette. I followed up with the Shrimp and Grits. Solidly the best Shrimp and Grits I have had in TN. My friend had the filet. It was perfectly prepared and the portion sizes were good. We dined at the bar and had a great overall dining experience. I imagine it would be even better at a table on a date.

The fried green tomato appetizer was by far the highlight of my visit. The homemade pimento spread was tasty and quite surprisingly a hit! I was tempted to leave after the appetizer so that I could savor the moment but I wasn’t full so I thought I’d order another dish. Being the seafood lover that I am, I decided to go for the crab cake benedict. I made a mistake as it was a major disappointment. The poached eggs were ok. The crab cake patties… I can’t describe what they taste like, inflated with water… less crab… not tasty at all. The skillet potatoes were not appealing. The fruit bowl was a fruit bowl. I’m rating 2 stars for the fried green tomatoes and polite server.

We were graciously greeted upon arriving and quickly seated even though we did not have a reservation. Love the intimate bar area and décor was gorg. Now, on to the best part — drinks and food. I had the St. Germain, great way to end a crap day. We ordered the deviled Eggs as a starter — these ain’t grandmas, they’re better!!! Generous sized portions and superb service make this a winner! Will be back again and again.
