I had food from Chopsticks Express back in December 2012. I was working at Macy’s in the mall, and didn’t want Mickey D’s or Auntie Anne’s for dinner. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken combo with chicken fried rice. I enjoyed everything down to the last chunk of chicken and washed it down with a Pepsi. The next day, my stomach was hurting really bad, and I had the runs!!! It was not fun at all. I give this place 3 stars for good food, but I got sick from the food.

No pictures to share because I inhaled my food. LOL This is a hidden little gem! The food is fresh and prepared just for you on a hibachi grill or in a traditional wok in back. They have a «two-sided» menu; one side is Chinese and the other Japanese. For the Chinese side, you pick one side dish(white rice, fried rice or lo-mein) and then up to three meats. The meats include the usual Chinese entrees including beef and broccoli and General Tso’s Chicken. For the Japanese or Teriyaki menu, you choose two sides and your combination of hibachi-cooked meats. They also offer the expected appetizers like egg rolls and rangoons. The prices are amazingly reasonable. Today, I ordered the chicken, beef and shrimp teriyaki meal for under $ 9.00. They don’t skimp on the meat either. Each bite had at least one shrimp in it, which is surprising for a Chinese restaurant. According to the website, they also deliver Monday through Thursday.

So I hate Chinese food but I do like other Asian cuisines so when I saw they have tons of teriyaki options, I decided to try it. I mean where else in this mall could I possibly eat, McDonald’s? I think not. What makes Chopsticks Express stand out from other mall eateries is that everything is cooked to order. The food is not sitting around in vats a la Panda Express; it’s thrown on the grill out front when you order. This could potentially make for a long wait if others have ordered ahead of you. I got the #4, which is chicken and shrimp teriyaki. The portions of both were generous and were tasty with white rice and stir fry noodles(you can pick your 2 sides). I also liked the cream cheese and crab wontons as they add some crunch to the entrée. There’s plenty of Siriacha and other condiments to spice up your meal. Lastly the prices are great. My chicken and shrimp teriyaki was only about $ 6.50!

It is very similar to other take out Japanese restaurants that you would normally find in a mall food court. The food is cooked fresh right in front of you, so it is always nice and hot. It is hibachi style. They have a two sided menu. You can also order popular Chinese dishes. Those are usually cooked in the back. They also have a small seating area. Most portions are big enough to make two meals for a very good price. Their chicken teriyaki is my favorite. I also like the fact that it is conveniently located inside the mall. Most restaurant dining near the Francis Scott Key Mall require you to exit the mall.
