My boyfriend and I were trying to plan somewhere to go for Valentine’s Day. We made reservations for a place downtown and then he was called into work :(once he got off we knew we missed the original reservation but we’re still in the mood for sushi so we decided to try Old Dominion. We placed a reservation online and when we came in at first it seemed as though they didn’t get our reservation. The host seemed a little confused but was trying to look for it. After a few minutes they sat us… for being a Sunday night it was fairly crowded. Unfortunately our waitress didn’t come over for a few minutes and barely introduced herself(seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else) and after we ordered drinks she took even longer to come over with them. Since we had never been there before we asked suggestions/if we should go ahead and do the sushi platter instead of spending more to get individual rolls. When we asked what the MAKIPARTY entailed she VERYQUICKLY read the list of sushi it comes with before we could really even follow the kinds/look what they were on the menu. Oh well, we decided it sounded like it worked and it was a decent price for 14 rolls. We received the sushi(from a different waitress) and we never received refills until the very end of our meal when she gave us to-go cups(nice for on the go but would rather have someone check on drinks during the meal more than once). BUTTHESUSHIWASAMAZING!!! I would DEFINITELY come back for the SUSHI!!! Although I don’t recommend the large sushi platters for every meal(it is a TON), we were hungry and wanted to splurge for Valentine’s Day. They did have smaller platter options(and cheaper) which was cool because my boyfriend and I love to try new sushi. I would definitely come back here(and maybe even try there other menu options… you definitely have a HUGE selection if you aren’t a sushi fan) but I wish the waitress service was a little better. They handed me a rose when I left which was a sweet touch for Valentine’s Day and the sushi chef said thank you for the business. The overall atmosphere was good and the sushi was great. Giving 3 stars for the so-so service but would return here.

Went there last night for the first time and it was amazing! Sat at the bar and ordered a few $ 2 beers, the crazy boy roll and Ravens roll I believe they were called. The bartender was so nice. She’s easy to talk to and so sweet. Said we should get the Ravens roll and we definitely weren’t disappointed! The manager, I believe he was, was very nice as well. One of my new favorite spots! Great food, drinks, prices and staff. Job well done

Really nice, open-feeling restaurant. We went on Sunday evening and it was moderately busy. We both love tartare and crab salad so we shared those appetizers. Portion sizes were perfect and both were delicious. We shared a Godzilla roll and a Crazy roll. Godzilla was a winner. The Crazy roll would’ve been tasty but the pieces were literally too big to stuff in my mouth. I can’t stand huge sushi rolls that are impossible to eat with one bite. Call me picky but it dampened the meal a bit. If big fat sushi rolls don’t bother you, def try this place. We’ll come back.

Fantastic service! The atmosphere is so fun and the food is great! I primarily come for sushi(which is soooo good) but the other food looks awesome! I’m definitely here to stay!

Very cool décor on the inside! Food is good, Happy Hour specials are great. Didn’t rate 5 stars because the bartender we had was serving her friends, and paid very little attention to the other customers.

I should have trusted my instincts– when a restaurant tries to offer every kind of food, it doesn’t do anything well. We ordered buffalo wings, three sushi rolls, red curry, Pad Thai, and two kids meals. Nothing was good and the curry and Pad Thai were so bad that we stopped after a few bites. I also ordered an iced tea and could taste that it was made from instant powder instead of being freshly brewed. I asked to switch to a water after one sip and was still charged $ 2.25 for a tea that I didn’t drink and I didn’t like. Our server was very nice but did not offer to get us anything else or any kind of discounts when we expressed disappointment with our meal in an effort to retain us as customers or encourage us to come back in the future. They even advertise twice outside that kids eat free on Sundays but tried to charge us for that as well. Needless to say, this was an expensive mistake that we won’t be making again.

First the good: decent sushi, not great, but okay. Good location and well decorated. The bad: instant powder iced tea, buffalo wings sauce tasted funny, miso soup tasted funny, Thai red curry was just plain awful and the chicken in it felt and tasted like rubber. Shrimp pad Thai was almost as bad but both were completely inedible. The ugly: entire back of the restaurant near the bar smelled like smoke I literally couldn’t even eat a second bite of the curry it was so awful. Was not offered anything — exchange, discount, nothing. That’s fine, I picked it. But I certainly won’t be going back.

I ordered steak with a thai basil sauce. It was served sizzling with a side of rice. It was good, the sauce was thick and rich. It had fresh vegetables that were seared that went well with the sweet but spicy sauce. The service was good, they even changed the tv channel for us. The prices were good and the kids enjoyed it. They have really cool tables that make it look like you are sitting on the floor. My husband ordered sushi and he said if was good — no great. I would recommend this restaurant.

We went in the other night for carry out simply because i had just gotten off work and didn’t want to dine in . Upon walking in the restaurant, the entrance reminded me of a typical Chinese buffet with the huge chandelier lights and waterfall. then walking into the host station. Half of the restaurant was beautifully decorated and the other half seemed like a typical American bar? I think whoever designed the place should’ve put more thought into integrating the two themes of the restaurant instead of it looking drastically different . We were directed toward the bar to order carry out. The woman behind the bar was really nice. But the menu. I absolutely hated the menu. It was the most confusing thing. Again, I understand they were trying to integrate Asian plus American bar grill but they could’ve done a better job at categorizing the menu. Appetizers were like edamame. Chili cheese fries. Buffalo wings. Seaweed salad. Uhh okay ? Anyway we only ordered sushi and waited for it to be made. Went home immediately and ate it. We live about 5 mins away . The sushi was definitely NOT the best at all. We ordered 4 different kinds. I want to say that the best part of the sushi was the sauce that was supposed to go on one of them but it was put on the side. I could barely eat it. Hubby eats everything and he could barely eat it as well. It just wasn’t up to standards. We were not impressed at all. We may go back and dine in to see how the regular food is but it’s not on the top of my list to try.

Very nice atmosphere and excellent food. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. This place has been completely transformed from it’s prior Mexican restaurant interior. The sushi was some of the best we’ve had, and the kids’ fried rice dinner and chicken wings was great, too. Can’t wait to go back.

Yep, I’m totally smitten with Old Dominion. I had no clue they were even there until we started looking for a new place to grab lunch. Initially, I was set on getting some sort of Asian food and my husband wasn’t convinced but luckily you don’t have to choose one or the other at this place. We got the sampler appetizer which was great. Also, their sushi was really good. They had a special Halloween roll which we obviously had to try. Even the kid’s chicken & fries was yummy. They have lots a specialty drinks and beer and game day specials. Also, the service is wonderful and friendly and I happen to like the atmosphere in there; not confused at all. I can’t wait to try more from their menu!

Great food and fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended. My wife and I were undecided on what to grab for lunch until we saw what Old Dominion had to offer. This Asian fusion place will not disappointed. There is a large variety of food from burgers to Thai to sushi. I’ve never seen a menu like it. Today is Halloween and the sushi chef created a Halloween roll for us that was so delicious. Yes there are TVs in this Asian restaurant but so what? My kid was happy so it’s a plus for us.

Its decent. I’ll come again. My wife Kelly is a sushi connoisseur and did not have any complaints about the sushi. The salad was nothing special. My beef and vegetable was overall good.

We love this place! Food and service is great, including the overall atmosphere. They are fairly new but glad we have such an awesome asian restaurant nearby. They also have different areas to eat; tatami room(sort of Japanese style), bar area, regular dining, and the outdoors. We’ve eaten in the regular dining area plenty of times and the tatami room one or two times. The tatami tables are a treat since we’ve never dined Japanese style before so it was quite neat. Anyways, if you want delicious asian food, this place is definitely a must try! ^_^

Excellent service. Excellent sushi options and good food. Nicely renovated restaurant where a Mexican restaurant use to be. My son had the kids fried rice which is a great portion size for $ 5. My husband and I shared the Honey roll which was pleasant and was yummy. During 4−7pm Monday thru Friday, they have Happy Hour Specials-$ 2.50 domestic drafts and appetizers for under $ 5. Definitely would add to the rotation of places to eat.

First and foremost this place has an identity crisis. I get that it used to be a bar and still has the bar feel but they’ve put effort into making it a bit more Asian like. The menu is all over the place and not organized at all. They have sushi, Asian noodle dishes and burgers/sandwiches. I understand they’re trying to be an all in one place with an emphasis on the sushi, but that needs to reflect on their menu. For example they have a sandwich area with burgers, wraps and Asian inspired wraps and on the sushi menu they list kids food like burgers and chicken nuggets… um ok?! Create a section for«American» food and call it a day, don’t confuse everyone. Onto the service… not so great. We were sitting in a pretty much empty place for 10+ minutes before a waiter came and took our drink order saying he was sorry and didn’t know anyone was there. Odd because there were waiters walking all over the place and chatting in the back… I’m sure someone could have given him a heads up. The food was just Ok. We got a house salad which was good and once we finished it our waiter brought out another large house salad for each of us since it took so long. That was nice but why bring Someone a big salad after they just ate a salad? Odd but I can’t complain about free food. The sushi was so so and some rolls tastes bitter which means the fish was not fresh.

Give this place a chance! My wife and I dined here Monday 6/29…Yes we got a coupon in the mail so we figured why not? I was a tad worried because a place touting sushi and wings usually means neither are that great and you’re in for a disappointment. While we didn’t get wings or sushi this trip, I can tell you my worries were put to rest when we walked in. The interior successfully melds what you expect from a sports grill and a sushi place. Clean, contemporary with important attention to detail that you come to expect from higher end Asian restaurants. The menu didn’t feel bloated or confusing like I expected. To be honest I’d love to see more Asian inspired sandwiches and spins on the American classics to get over the last hurdle, I’m nit picking though. To start my wife and I got the lettuce wraps. The flavors were all there and the presentation was appealing. Romaine lettuce would’ve been nice but again over analyzing. Picking the Drunken Noodles with Chicken and myself the Pad Thai with Shrimp we both enjoyed the dishes and quality. The Pad Thai had that great acidic base that melded well through the textures. The shrimp were cleaned and tender. A few were slightly overcooked but not terribly. Our server Sydney knew her stuff, attentive and was friendly. Worth checking out! Don’t forget their traditional Japanese dining room and their Old Dominion root beer!

I’m glad other people have had good experiences but ours was far from it. It was a Monday night and I got the sense they were under staffed and the waitress was not well trained. We both love sushi and wanted a quick bite to eat. I ordered their shiitake clear soup and rice(I wasn’t feeling great). My husband ordered edamame, a tuna roll and miso soup. We also ordered green tea. It took about 15 minutes for the tea to come. Then eventually, I think the manager came by and asked if we were given water yet(this was easily 20 or more minutes into our visit). We said no. I asked for water and my husband declined water. Well, the water never came. Our food took about 30+ minutes to come with no apology. The waitress put 2 pieces of tuna sushi in front of my husband. I said, «Um, he ordered a tuna roll». She said«Oh we don’t do tuna rolls». I was like… What? She said, «Well there are different types». Like we stumped her or something, so she substituted tuna nigiri instead. My husband said, «You don’t make a regular tuna roll?» and she said No they don’t. Which isn’t true. She was just horribly confused. She also forgot his miso soup. She basically didn’t come back to check on us, so I had to go track her down to get our check and make sure we weren’t charged for the soup or the wrong sushi. She apparently did take the sushi off and didn’t charge the soup, but never an apology or a word about any of it. Just poor service and it was painfully slow. I could hear other diners on the other side of the wall from us having problems also. I hope it’s just growing pains, but it will be a long time before I give this restaurant a go again. I created a Unilocal account just to review this place, since they aren’t on Trip Advisor yet.

This was by far the best sushi I have ever had. We tried the Shrimp Tempura Roll, the Chef Roll and the Passion Roll. They were all delicious and very flavorful but the Passion Roll was definitely my favorite. With tempura kani, spicy shrimp, cream cheese and avocado, the combination of flavors and textures was amazing. For dessert we shared Tempura Vanilla Ice cream which was a wonderful way to end our otherwise light meal. Everything was presented beautifully, the atmosphere was modern and sleek and it was quiet with soft piano music playing. We sat at a table in the bar and the service was exceptional, out waitress was very attentive and friendly. This restaurant has only been open for about two weeks and I could not find a single thing wrong. If you aren’t a fan of sushi, there were plenty of other options to choose from and Happy Hour Specials as well. I would highly recommend this place, we had a very enjoyable date night.
