I’m so happy to finally have a great sushi restaurant here in Frederick! Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’ve already gone here over 20 times since its grand opening. I’ve introduced this place to all of my family and friends and not a single complaint from anyone – it’s an instant favorite. Every time the service is great, the food is great, and the wait for a table is little to none. My favorite items on the menu have to be the Lazy Shack roll and the Pong Nigiri. The fish is always fresh, delicious, and flavorful. If you feel like splurging a little bit I definitely recommend the Bluefin Toro – by far the best piece of sushi I’ve ever had. Without a doubt I’ll be visiting this place for many years to come.

Absolutely in love! Perhaps not the most traditional but they have all your staple sushi and sashimi«flavors»(tuna, salmon, eel…) and it’s utterly delicious. Service was great and it’s a cute and cozy little upstairs spot. Will be going back.

This place was so good. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. They gave us extra because they were out of the ceviche today and when they found out it was my birthday they treated me like a princess. BESTSUSHIEVER.

Hands down best sushi around all rolls fresh and crisp. Chef Pong kills it at this spot. The pork belly is a must.

Great sushi is hard to find in the DC area, but this Lazy Fish definitely delivers. In my opinion, this place is right up there with Sushi Yoshi as the best I’ve had. The location(upstairs from a Thai restaurant) is great. If you can get spot by the windows, the people watching can be highly entertaining. We had a chilean sea bass tempura roll and a spica tuna role with avocado and aioli. Both were excellent. The udon noodle soup with the shrimp tempura was also perfectly acceptable, but nothing to write home about. I’d give the food overall four stars, but I’m bumping the review to a five because of the location and charm of the place. Frederick is growing into one of the best foody neighborhoods in the area, and Lazy Fish is a strong contributer.

The restaurant is tucked in on the side/upstairs of the Thai restaurant. Can be easy to miss. Good sushi. Has chu toro(medium fatty tuna)! Which is hard to find. Not very traditional but has interesting rolls that are different than other restaurants. Service is good, attentive and fast. Would recommend.

Upstairs sushi! This place is on the second floor of a building on Patrick Street, and has a Richmond vibe– wooden booths, small tables, great service. I had two sushi rolls, which were large and tasty, but a little oversauced for me. however, my husband had the bulgogi bowl, and said it was AMAZING. I really like that their menu isn’t all sushi– having bento bowls, noodle bowls and other dishes means I can come here even with folks who don’t do raw fish. Prices were a little high, but for fresh sushi it’s worth it… Will likely return.

Lazy Fish is in a small building, but very nice atmosphere. Excellent service, excellent sushi. A wide variety to choose from as well as rotating specials. The bagel roll is one of my favorites. A TAD pricier than the rest of the sushi in Frederick, but you definitely get what you pay for. Best sushi in Frederick :)

I have been here several times now for sushi, which has always been great. My favorites are the Rainbow Roll and the Baltimore Roll. Last night when we were in, I chose to order the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box, which was absolutely delicious and a huge portion for the price! Definitely a favorite in Frederick.

Bland flavors, service was lame. Every bit of energy from our server felt fake. Sadly, this will be the first and last visit to this«highly rated» sushi spot. We ordered 6 items total and were really only in liked 1.

Came to Frederick for the night and had to try this place out. The peach Cosmo was delicious, great drink and beer selection. We had a few apps, all of which were featured specials for the evening. Shrimp and spinach dumplings were so good, plus salmon crudo and a Hawaiian tuna. Service was spot on, the gentleman that waited on us was extremely attentive. Love the old building as well!

Not the most traditional, but has a great variety of sushi and other«raw» seafood items: ceviche, carpaccio, etc. The fish was delightfully fresh and the rolls were creative without being cloying. The mixed drinks were appropriate to the theme and menu. Try the Lazy Spoon raw fish appetizer sampler. It’s chef’s choice and the choices made for us were varied and delightful, honestly.

Not going to lie– I was disappointed by the sushi here. The venue is amazing– located right above shops and restaurants in downtown Frederick so you have a great view of one of the bustling side streets of downtown. The service was also great– my waiter was very nice and the other staff seemed pleasant enough. The sushi, though… well it’s not something I’d recommend in Frederick. First of all, the portions are quite small for the price. I ordered a small roll(salmon and avocado) as well as a special item(tavern roll). Each order came with 8 pieces of sushi but the rolls were quite small– after eating both orders I was still quite hungry, and although dinner is my favorite meal of the day, I wouldn’t say my appetite is huge. Maybe I’m just used to larger sushi portions back home, but I was disappointed by the quantity here for what I was paying. The sushi itself was also nothing to write home about. The seaweed around the rolls is a strange texture– harder than I’m used to and bit chewy, which is something that’s hard not to notice. Also, apart from the sauce, the tavern roll was not very flavorful. I prefer places that rely upon the flavor of the fish shining through. Instead of complimenting the fish, the sauce and additions masked it and overwhelmed the overall flavor of the roll. The one thing I did appreciate was seeing the sesame seeds in the sushi rice, which added great flavor and texture. I don’t think it’s the best sign if the sushi rice was my favorite thing, however. So, all in all, great location but not my favorite sushi.

This is my «Raku» of downtown Frederick! Excellent Asian fusion in a nice environment. Solid value for the quality. Good service. Perspective – It’s a 4-Star where it is – probably more 3 – 3.5-Star if in DC, NYC, Miami. That may sound pretentious – but it’s really not:)

Fiancé and I sought out some yummy sushi for date night and narrowed in on this joint. It was a great choice! Our meal was delicious, reasonably priced, and we really enjoyed the ambiance and our seats that let us look out the window and down at the walkers-by. We got the edamame to start(a classic!) and for sushi we got the Hawaiian, Baltimore, and tempura sweet potato rolls. Can I just say YUUUUMMMM! I was so stoked about the sweet potato roll, cause SP is my jam! The Hawaiian was fantastic too. Fiancé did the bmore roll and ate it up quick! She also got the mango lemonade — DELISH! We will def be back and will take pics next time!

My second time here and it’s obvious this is the best sushi in Frederick. Very fresh and delicious. Lunch with my daughter was pricey but well worth the cost. We had the seaweed salad, avocado roll, Tuna roll, salmon nigiri and shark tank roll. All very good. Presentation was nice, service was nice, all in all… a great lunch experience.

After watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi — which is, for you information, free on Amazon if you have Prime, so you’re welcome — I was craving for some mad nigiri. I know I won’t find sushi with the same quality as Jiro’s anywhere around here, but I think, Lazy Fish was pretty great! I definitely worked out an appetite before getting to Lazy Fish so I had to order an appetizer before getting to the main course. We got the Tuna Poppers as appetizer. I wasn’t really expecting it, but it was spicy-spicy. It was spicy to the highest level of spicyness. A little unpleasant if you are not used to spicy food. Now, to the main course! We had the Jo Nigiri which had 10 chef’s choice of nigiri, and also a complimentary miso soup. The miso soup was yummy, I mean, who can mess up miso right? From what I remember, for the nigiri, the fish we had were: salmon, tuna, white fish, mackerel, eel, octopus, halibut, and the rest I do not remember. My favorite of course we’re the eel, halibut and salmon. Fatty salmon is so good. *drools* Also, if you want to try alcohol and you’re not sure what you want, ask Pam. Pam is such an awesome server. She helped us with the sake and beer.
