Great find in this town with dozens of places to eat. I called ahead to see if there was outdoor seating and spoke to the Manager Leslie. She was very cordial and welcomed the dogs to join us. There was a bowl of water outside for them when we arrived. Leslie came out to greet the dogs too. I had the haddock filet sandwich which was grilled to perfection. It was served with fresh lettuce greens tomato on a pretzel bun which was a flavorful touch. Delicious. Fried pickles on top a bit spicy for me but very good. No complaints highly recommend.

Easy to swing in off the highway, great friendly customer service, and delicious seafoods! Big beautiful chunks of fresh lobster for the lobster rolls and yummy big belly clams! Yum! Nice patio too.

I’d give it ½ a star if I could. My fiancé and I got there around 1:40ish and no one was in restaurant or waiting in line to order. We order(Fried Shrimp platter and a Fried Chicken Sandwich). 20 minutes go by, nothing, people who ordered 15 or so minutes after us got there food. After about 30 minutes I go up to pick up window. Wait about 5 minutes, no one comes. Finally someone does. Tell them my name… «oh, you had fried shrimp and chicken fingers basket». No! Fried Shrimp and Fried Chicken Sandwich. «Oh, ok, make it a fried chicken sandwich. Another 10 minutes go by… «was it baked or fried?». Ugg… Meanwhile my fried shrimp platter is sitting in window getting COLD! Finally about 50 minutes later we get our food. NOAPPOLOGY, COLDFOOD! No offer to re-cook my COLD fried shrimp platter. Highly disppointed. Disorganized and chaotic!

The owner was very friendly and checked with you about the food. The first floor was more of a seafood shack experience while the 2nd floor was full service. Portions were ample and the french fries were not oversalted. The twin lobster($ 32.99) came with french fries and coleslaw. The grilled fish(9.99) surprisingly was pretty good. The whole belly clams(17.99) were a bit smaller than Ipswich clams, but still sweet. Fish and chips were decent. Bathrooms are clean.

Awesome! After a morning of shopping, we decided to stop by here and we weren’t disappointed. Casual, clean and delicious! The lobster roll and scallops looked absolutely amazing. The people working there were incredibly friendly. When I asked about vegetarian options they were more than willing to offer up suggestions! We will definitely stop in next time we’re in Freeport!

Went in and glad we did. This time of year it isn’t bad for tourists so there was no line. The fried haddock was delicious. The batter is more crunchy than the doughy type, but light and perfect. Fries were great. The fried clams my husband got were good, a little pricey for our wallet but it all was better than fast food! Close to LL Bean so it was convenient for us since that’s why we were in Freeport!

Under new ownership and it’s never been better! Food is amazing and so are the prices. Had a tiny problem when paying for my order but the food made up for it 110%. Got to tell the new owner Jeff how much we loved the changes he’s made. Definitely a great spot in Freeport.

Great little place. The employees were very friendly and the food was delicious! The building had the ‘Maine’ vibe you think of. Me and the wife both had the lobster rolls which came with fries. The lobster roll was great! I was expecting the lobster to be warm, which threw me on the first bite. But it didn’t need to be, it was great. The fries were delicious too! Normally I have some fries with my ketchup, but not these! Still had half of my puddle of ketchup on the plate when all the fries were all gone! Would definitely recommend this location.

The Lobster Cooker has reopened under new management, and darn aren’t we lucky it did! I have never had a lobster roll this good in all my lobster roll eating years. Fresh cut super crispy fries accompany a huge portion of perfectly cooked lobster on a split top toasted bun and a bit of mixed greens. You get a choice of mayo or drawn butter with which to lightly dress the lobster meat. It was $ 16.99, a great deal for this area and this caliber. The staff were clearly proud of their product, and super friendly. They also serve fried seafood, whole lobsters, and some burgers and kids friendly fare, as well as local beers. Upstairs is a full service sports bar. The lobster cooker is my new go-to, no more Linda Bean’s for me!

Open under new management. Clean, pub style, large Screen TV’s. Fast courteous service, simple menu, free soda refills, hand cut Maine potatoes fried in canola oil(I asked), whole belly clams fresh not greasy were great. Upper loft not handicap accessible, but same food downstairs. Manager went out of her way to make certain we were happy, and was thoroughly and justifiably proud of this relaunched spot. Price was moderate, worth a look when at LL Bean next door!

DH and I were looking for a quick bite to get an authentic lobster roll. We seen a banner for The Lobster Cooker and stopped in. Apparently it went through mgmt or ownership changes and this place ISOPEN. We went upstairs to watch some March Madness and sat at a high top. We ordered the Lobster roll with butter and a cup of the clam chowder. The chowder was decent but I don’t know if worth the 5.99. The roll didn’t skimp on the lobster and the toasted warmth of the bun were a nice contrast. Worth a stop in for a quick bite.

Definitely open!!! Stopped after we saw a tip from a local that it had reopened under new ownership. Excellent find! Excellent seafood, healthy portions, hand cut fries, and friendly staff. Great lobster roll with lots of fresh meat and easy on the mayo.

According to Trip Advisor and if you do a search for them on Googe, it says they’re closed. Is it true? Can anyone confirm or deny?

I have been waiting to have a lobster roll in Maine. My first attempt at another joint was a bust. This more than made up for it. The lobster was so overflowing I was afraid I wouldn’t finish. The place is very small, so expect a wait. The servers are young and maybe not as attentive as they should be. Next time I am in Maine, I will definitely come back here.

Went here to avoid chains fast food. Live music playing when we went. Ordered the bowl of clam chowder and a basket of clam strips with fries. Both were great. Chowder was thick and perfect for staving off the cold. Fries were thick cut and fantastic.

I first came to lobster cooker over 20 years ago and this is where I first fell in love with lobsters. The lobster bisque is amazing and the deals for the triple steamed lobster was great!

Lobster is a must-eat when visiting Maine! :) This restaurant is in a super touristy/shopping-centery-y area, so expect the prices to be on the more expensive side. That being said, lobster isn’t cheap, and they did give me a good sized portion of it in my lobster roll! If I was in the area again, I’d probably want to try more of a mom and pop place, but we were all hungry and this restaurant was right next to Banana Republic where we were shopping. It wasn’t bad, but it seemed to cater more to tourists than to locals.

Solid lunch spot especially if you need a break from all the shopping in the area. setup here is simple. you go in, order food, get a pager and sit at a table. They have a nice patio area up front for eating and people watching, however it’s outside so it may get very hot especially if your table isn’t shaded. There is also plenty A/C tables inside and on the second floor. Food and beer is decent. I went with lobster roll which was well prepared and fresh. They also have tons of other foods mostly fried and a whole lobster which looked on point as I’ve noticed some people having it. Prices are reasonable here also. There are better choices whoever this places fits the bill. Once done head over to Frosty’s for desert!

What happened to this place? I’m not sure when they renovated/changed the set up, but now I have to pay for table service and my soups still come in paper cups? How does this make sense? I miss the more casual version of this joint. The vibe was different, and I’m pretty sure the food was different. You used to be able to just go up to the counter, order the goods, and take a seat. Now you have to take a seat and seat subpar watery lobster bisque and clam chowder. Both soups had a layer of oil — not thick hearty fat — on top. They were super thin, barely coated the spoon, and were so watered down. Surprisingly had decent flavor, but a chowder should be a CHOWDER, not a broth like version of one. No more Lobster Cooker for us.
