WORSTSERVICEANDFOOOD! They force a tip out of you or they will chase you to your car and curse at you. Their food is raw. Horrible place and it needs to be closed down ASAP!

Always on point! Been going her for over 15 years. Never disappointed. Well, just once, when they ran out of Chapli Kababs, but never since then. Food is great, as is the service and the quality of the food is consistent!

We tried the fist 2 vegetarian entrees. One was spinach based and other was pumpkin curry with rice. Loved them. The black tea was awesome too. Highly recommend

I used to LOVE this place, but tonight the service was non-existent. We waited forever for our food, and even had to request the check after awhile. I’ve been here a million times over the years, and the food was always exceptional. It was lacking tonight, though. My party had the shrimp curry and combination kabob dishes, which they both said were delicious. I had the chicken sabzi challow(which I use to order with lamb all the time), and it was very dry. Also, the spinach was bitter. I wouldn’t have left a review, but the service needs an upgrade.

Love the food, but inexcusably slow service. It wasn’t packed, but we waited 45 minutes for our meal. Food wasn’t even hot when it reached us.

This place is ok. There is not usually a wait which is a plus. The bolani, manto, and chapli kabob are excellent. The qabli pallou is good too. The chicken we had was quite dry – and the chicken kaboudi sucks. I have been here a couple times – sometimes the food is better then other times, so a bit inconsistent. Its across the street from DeAfghanan which has the best afghan food if you can get a table there on a wknd… but a decent alternative, and has a much larger menu.

First time trying Afghan food and loved it! Shared potato bolani with a friend and ordered Challow Kabob Chicken for my entrée. While we waited, they gave us complimentary Afghan bread(delicious!!! I want mooore!!) and salad, which was tasty though my friend and I both encountered a very bitter taste with one of the veggies. Bolani came out first and boy it was massive! Comes with unsweetened yogurt that complimented it very well. My friend said mixing the yogurt with the mint sauce made it better and she was right! We couldn’t finish the whole thing. Definitely recommended. Challow Kabob Chicken comes with white rice but I’d recommended substituting it with the brown rice, which is much more flavorful. I ended up getting a side order of the brown rice because I didn’t remember that it came with white rice. The kabob was very flavorful and was full of spices. The texture reminded me of an omelet more than chicken? I dunno but it was interesting but good. I might try something else next time. Service was very friendly and diligent. Food came out fast and they were attentive. Didn’t get dessert because we were too full but I liked everything I ate! Lots of left overs which is the best. Will definitely come back in the future.

Got lunch here with friends because De Afghanan wasn’t open yet. The server was nice, the kitchen kind of slow. The salad was a little brown at the edges. If you discount the huge pile of rice, the portions are on the small side for what you’re paying. Chicken korma was decent, pumpkin thing(borani kadoo) was delicious, lamb shank(sabzi challaw) itself was good but the spinach was weird and sour, tasted like vinegar. I could only eat half of it. Next time I’ll just wait until De Afghanan is open again…

Checked into Salang Pass with friends, after checking out it’s good reviews on Unilocal, but the place was a major letdown. Seems like they do only take reservations only if you are a party of 12+ or more(which really sucks) cos they don’t really have a good way of sitting anything between 5 to 8 people. If you are a bigger party, you get to sit in the lounge section. We were given a table, and no one really bothered to check on us for a long time. The main server is not really cut out for the service industry, and it’s pretty obvious the moment you interact with him. Long story short, the service sucked right from the first minute into the restaurant. Took more than 60 minutes for the food to arrive(which is also after we reminded them of it). The Bolani is strictly a-okay, and comes out piled up in a dish looking pretty unappetizing. The Hummus comes without the bread(which we were told would be given to us once we placed an order for the entrees). The food — The Challow Kebab Chicken(Choobideh), the Chicken Curry and the Lamb Kofta Curry were okay(after we had lost our appetite waiting for the order — the one star in the review is for the food). We gulped the food down quickly and were on our way, with a promise never to lurk around this place ever. To top that, we saw the server turn away people at 9:10PM saying that they are closed(and the restaurant timing is till 10PM). Seriously, that place is not cut out for the restaurant business. Salang Pass should seriously like, take a pass! :)

Halal meat is served here. My favorite afghani restaurant in the area. They serve the best quabili pulao and curries. The bolani and mantoo are awesome. They give free afghani bread and salad. The green and red sauce are also good. We have tried a lot of stuff from the menu– Qabuli pulao with lamb– best dish=superb Chapli kabab– excellent Chicken and lamb kabob– very good Fish kabob– good Chicken curry — very good Mantoo– good Kadoo– excellent Veggie combo dish with eggplant and spinach– pretty good. Pretty consistently good.

Why are the reviews so cranky? We were served promptly. We ordered five appetizers and two entrees which were all delicious. The salad was also. Our kids cleaned their plates. Order the kabobs.

Very disappointing. This is one of those«if I can give this place 0 stars, I would» type of restaurants. It seemed promising at first. Came in with a group of 8 because the wait for the other Afghan restaurant across the street was a 1hr45min wait. We were sat in their special area, were we basically sit on the floor. It’s really nicely decorated and we were all beyond excited to share this experience together. That feeling was short lived. We ordered a couple appetizers and our main dishes at the same time. The appetizers took almost an hour to arrive. It wasn’t that crowded, and the appetizer wasn’t even that complicated. It was the platter with hummus and whatnot. THEN another 15 – 20 minutes later, we are told that they no longer have the chapli kabobs, which half of us ordered… Why would would you have us sit around for almost an hour and a half and not tell us this in the beginning? Unacceptable. This is the first and last time I’ll be here.

One of the best chicken kabobs I have ever had! Super delicious with the tasty rice! I have tried the beef kabob and it is pretty tasty, but you can never go wrong with the chicken. I’ve never tried Afghan food before and this definitely made a great impression! The restaurant looks very traditional as there is regular tables and there is the traditional floor seating which is nice! I heard this place gets pretty packed as the restaurant isn’t too big!

I wanna go back and eat the mantoo all by myself. The spinach lamb was flavorful(with preserved lemon peel!) and tender.

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was super empty. They have regular tables and a platform area with really slow sofas to sit on and low tables to eat on. The platform area was definitely more intimate and relaxing, although a little awkward to eat unless you sit Indian style. We ordered two dishes family style: Mantoo: Ground beef dumplings with yogurt sauce. So good! The only place I liked yogurt sauce from is Halal Guys in New York so I was a bit scared about this one but it was not too sour and complimented well with the dish. Quabili Pallow: Lamb shank. One thing that scares me about lamb is when the chef doesn’t cook it right and it’s still gamey. This one was not gamey at all! It was so juicy, soft and delicious with the sauce. Amazing food! I can’t wait to go back and try other things from their menu.

Pretty good afghan food with a diverse range of options on the menu. They serve a complimentary salad and bread with your meal, but both aren’t that appetizing. It’s really the main courses that are awesome: aushak(Afghan stuffed pasta with a meat and yogurt sauce) and mantoo which is pretty similar and equally delicious. The beef and lamb are cooked well here, but I’d avoid the chicken, it hasn’t been very flavorful both times I’ve been here, once in a kabob, and another time in the sabzi challow(the spinach in the dish was what made it tasty). Interior is really nice, with a beautiful mural on the wall, and traditional style seating where you sit on a cushion on the floor at a low table, with lots of bright curtains and fun lighting.
