This was my first time going to The Cheesesteak Shop, and I have no complaints. I pull up around 7:40pm, 20 minutes before closing. There was only 1 guy ahead of me. The lady at the register; the big old lady(I think she’s a manager), was super cool and friendly. Put my order in fast and quick and she read over my order and everything went smooth. She started coughing up a storm suddenly, and says«Sorry, I don’t want to cough on you.» BONUSPOINTS! I ordered 2 King of Phillys and 2 large steak fries. The cooks got my order done in 5 minutes. That was fast and easy! Also, get the desserts they offer. Don’t remember what they are called, but supposedly they are only available in Philly. Delicious! I got home and opened up my sandwich and was kinda let down. This sandwich lives up to extra cheese and meat, but I didn’t see any extra cheese OR meat. Anyway, place is good. Food is delicious! 4⁄5 starts. Must try.

This location is THEBEST location. I live in Milpitas where there is the same chain of the Cheese Steak Shop however I make the extra time it takes to drive to this Fremont location because the quality of the food is better. I find the Milpitas location to be more greasy and stale. Pros: Wonderful, very friendly staff Delicious Clean Safe neighborhood Steak Fries are the best fries They don’t put salt on your fries so you can do it yourself which is awesome Service is fast Punch card for a free sandwich Clean restroom No annoying TV or Radio being too loud Cons: You need to get the 50% more meat & cheese because it really makes the sandwich(and this is America after all) so this can get pricey It really is habit forming so plan on getting a gym membership

My favorite is the King of Philly with onions and hot peppers with a small side salad. I’ve been eating Philly cheesesteaks for a long time, mostly on the East Coast. I can honestly say that the sandwich here is as good as any I ever had on the East Coast. All the ingredients are top shelf, the preparation is careful and consistent and the service is always very fast and friendly.

I ate here today. I had a craving for cheese steak so I decided to look on Unilocal.I found this place and it had delivery. I started to order online and then I noticed the delivery time didn’t start for another 4 hours. So that was a bummer. I called in my order. 2 cheese steaks with onions, peppers, provolone and mushrooms. Yummy. I pulled up the directions on my map and drove to go pick em up. The directions kept taking me a block away and I had a hard time finding the place. When I got there my food was ready and I paid. The sandwich could have used more cheese and more steak and more mushrooms. There were 2 mushrooms in my sandwich. The onions and peppers were delicious and there were plenty. And the sandwich was a bit dry. The whole experience was kind of annoying.

The food is good, however! I paid an extra 3.00 for 50% more steak and cheese and I didn’t get it. It was the same amount that is on the regular sandwiches. They also card you for.i.d. when using your card depending on what race you are. I sat and watched them(big guy) do this at the counter and confronted him on it. Eat elsewhere if you can. The same day I wrote this review I called the restaurant and Steve answered. I told him the sandwich was not what I paid for(extra meat and toppings were lacking). He said no problem he would comp me a sandwich next time I came in. Fast forward to today I came to get my free sandwich he said he knew who I was due to my Unilocal review. I said OK and I thought everything was good. When I sat down he said this is the last time we will ever do business together. I guess its due to the bad Unilocal review. A shame I was happy he made it up to me by the free sandwich but had to take it back for being so rude. This was my second time ordering the king of philly and still no extra meat. Sandwich was very thin. Go to Bobs Hoagy Steaks down the street.

I was craving a Philly cheese steak and the closest place to us was closed. Good thing we remembered the Cheese Steak Shop. We both ordered the classic Philly with onions, sweet and hot peppers and shared some curly fries. Yum Yum! The place was busy, the service was fast and friendly and the cheese steaks were done to the way a cheese steak ought to be – the perfect ratios of meat, cheese, onions, peppers. Curly fries were hot, cooked to a delicious slight crunch on the outside, tender on the inside. Couldn’t ask for better. And as we were eating, we started talking about the fact that it’s people like THESE who make America. Not the Bill Gates types, no, no, no… it’s the guy who runs the little neighborhood places like a cheese steak restaurant, gives you instant delicious satisfaction in good food.

I’ve been coming here since March of last year, and now I have an addiction. I come every Tuesday(double stamp day!) unless something major prevents me, in which case I’ll come another day. The staff is always really friendly and helpful! They have pretty much memorized my order when I come, since I’m a regular and I always order the same thing: a 7 inch cheesesteak with steak, light onions, extra cheese, mayo and lettuce with steak fries. Sometimes, when I’m feeling particularly gluttonous, I get a soda and make it a combo. Also, I’m always pleasantly surprised by how quickly my order is ready, a huge plus now that I’m almost always ready to eat my own arm when I arrive.

Shitty ass place. Manager is an asshole. What happened to customer is always right. It looks like the place needs a cleaning

Didn’t wanna come back to this place but I decided to give it another try a few months ago because I was pregnant and having one of those strong cravings for a chicken philly. This place was a horrible move. Got home to find a piece of their meat thermometer in my sandwich! One of the employees expressed how they’d been looking for it all day! Fast forward to today. My boyfriend had really been wanting a philly so he went here since he had one of those cards for a free one. He placed a phone order because we weren’t sure what time this place closes(sometimes 7 other times 8). We get there to pay and he tells the manager that he wants to pay separately to take advantage of their promo card. Apparently they either have some sort of complicated system or the manager is just incompetent because«the system» doesn’t allow it. –_– Over this place and their horrendous excuse for customer service.

Just finished eating on a takeout. We were there just after 7, so there was plenty of time to complete the day and get the food out comfortably. I am once again confused by the good-to-poor experience between visits and within the same visit. As per before, the food was excellent; however on this visit, the restaurant front area wasn’t really clean. It looked like someone had taken just enough time to clean off the garbage, but the chairs were askew and the tables looked like they weren’t washed down. The fact that the owners are front-and-center reared its head again. The wife was pushy and rushed through taking our order, as though there were twenty people behind us — there was nobody else in the place. Her frustration over something(I couldn’t figure what it was) was clearly visible, so we asked if she was having a bad day. She snapped, «Yes» and pretty much walked away from the counter like she would rather be somewhere else. I think her husband was seeing the same thing, because he was totally awesome and thanked us for our business. So strange … Owners have to be willing to work open-to-close, weekends, plus all of the hours it takes to manage the business and the people. Frankly, I think these owners need to decide if they want to run a customer-focused business or not. If they can’t do that, perhaps it’s time to sell the franchise and get out.

This place deserves 5 stars for the great service!(Let’s be honest, it’s hard to come by.) I was in and out within 5 minutes and enjoyed waiting there talking to the staff – still pleasant despite the fact that their shift was almost over. Not a bad cheesesteak, either(not the best, but I’ve had worse)!

Normally when I come I get the best service and the best food, but today the sandwich didn’t have enough meat and it wasn’t it’s best today. But I will still continue to go and I will give it two thumbs up.

Before I get to the actual food portion of this review I will say this. The customer service was bad. I walked in with no line and placed an order. A minute after a couple walked in and ordered. They proceeded to skip my take out order and serve the dine in order of the two people behind me. Then they finally started my order, not cool. The food was good. Not as good as a real Philly steak but not bad for the area.

If you’re in Fremont and hankering for a South Philly classic«wiz wit», this is as close as your going to get. Frizzled beef, onions and Cheese Whiz on a fresh Amoroso roll, check them out. Not bad for a chain and more convenient than driving to the city. This location is well maintained and the staff is friendly. On our first visit, we ordered a 10-inch«King of Philly» which we thought had double the meat and double the cheese. As soon as Jonna B. was handed our order, she asked if it was a King of Philly because the package was so light. Some of the Unilocal pics look a lot heftier than what we received. Which is ironic considering that they use Steak-EZE, a portion controlled frozen Sirloin steak product. It took awhile, but we finally decided to give them another shot, each ordering our own sandwiches. Our go to sandwich is now the classic 10-inch, albeit a little light on the steak, it’s enough to satisfy anyone. The menu only mentions Provolone cheese, but I’ll let you in on a secret. They offer White American and Cheese Whiz too!

Hmm, I don’t understand all the four stars or higher for this restaurant. I grew up in the city and there’s lots of good food there. This cheese steak shop should be ashamed for even having«cheese steak» in its store name. I ordered a 10″ philly cheesesteak with everything on it and a small order of garlic fries. My cheesesteak was MAJORITY peppers, sweet and jalapeño. The steak itself had no taste. There were barely any cheese. The bread was good but I was there for a cheesesteak, not bread. I did not like the garlic fries. It was just steak fries with garlic dumped on top of it. It was so greasy that I didn’t even eat it.

We came in here last night to grab food before hopping on Bart to go to the«Tears for Fears» concert. I knew I was in for a treat because how can you go wrong with a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich? I couldn’t even remember the last time I had one and my mouth was watering. It was a Wednesday night, and the guy behind the counter mentioned that it was«Wacky Wednesday» which meant that all the fries were half off. Sweet! *Classic Philly Cheesesteak with Chicken, sweet pepper, regular bell pepper, jalapenos, cheese– The sweet peppers made such a difference in the overall taste of the sandwich. Loved it. I ordered the smallest which was the 7″ and it was a good enough size to satisfy the belly. *Curly Fries– We ordered a large to share because it was half off and they were just how curly fries should taste– crunchy but soft on the inside. They had huge ketchup dispensers on the condiment table so that you could fill up your own miniature plastic cup. They also had a self serve soda station with free refills.

Steve answered the phone when I called in my 8 sandwich order. He has great customer service skills over the phone! Some wanted onions, no peppers, others onion and sweet peppers, of course the experienced wanted onion, sweet & hot peppers! Order was ready when promised, each different sandwich was labeled, the order was 100% correct! How do you make an office happy on a Tuesday? Pickup awesome sandwiches at The Cheese Steak Shop! And … Tuesday is double stamp day!

Yum! I forgot how addicted I was to The Cheese Steak Shop! I’m so glad they opened this new location closer to my house about half a year ago, it’s much more convenient now. I’m usually more of a chicken meat person, but lately I’ve been craving so much steak. Needless to say, I got the steak for once. Now I can officially say that BOTH the chicken and the steak sandwiches are drool-worthy and delicious. Sooo good. The cheese is perfectly melted and draws out the flavor of the meat perfectly. The fries are good too! I don’t usually like curly fries because they’re always so oily and dry, but not at The Cheese Steak Shop! The curly fries are perfectly cooked, not dry and not smothered in oil. They’re not the super thin kind either so you can still taste the potato-y goodness.(: The Cheese Steak Shop can be a little bit pricey, but I can honestly say it’s one of the best Philly cheese steak sandwiches everrrr! More please(:
