A-Star Buffet

This place is disgusting. My man and his family went there to eat and they all got the stomach flu/​food poisoning. The food is also really disgusting, I really want to call health inspectors to close this place down. For me being a one time customer to this horrible place I truly believe it’s price is too high for its shitty contagious food and horrible customer service. It’s really embarrassing that people who come on tour go and eat there.

They are pricey with subpar food. We went for dinner to enjoy the crab legs, they didnt bring them out until we were about to leave. And when we finally got them they were bland. Big dissapointment. Save your money.

When this place first opened it was so good now it’s ok. The sushi selection is just horrible now ;(

Haven’t been here in like 3 years because last time I was here I was disgusted to see the fork I just grabbed had old food crusted on it, thank god it never got in my mouth but Tht grossed me tf out

This is my first time to come here with my family… When I told the server and show her my plate with baby cockroach inside the fish, she said oo ooh and then said nothing. I don’t want to come back again

Bad customer service and the flavor of the food is way off. Bad experience, no wonder I haven’t came since 2011.

One of the best buffets in town. They serve so much variety and the food is always delicious. In comparison to other overcharged buffets in town this one is hands down better. Plus the variety in food is unmatched.

Terrible experience! It’s a buffet so we got up to get our plates and drinks, then went for some salad and sushi only to come back to our table that was completely cleared off and moved to accommodate a larger group. The waitress said she thought we were done! She didn’t see we just got there and just made our plates? We were told she didn’t speak English… needless to say bad experience and we got our money back!

This was our favorite and only buffet that we came to, but now we will never ever be returning! Into our first round, as I was looking through my mashed potatoes after finishing my chicken feet, I stumble across a dead COCKROACH! I thought it was a bean but I didn’t have anything with beans. Took my plate to the waitress and showed her along with the lady that was standing there (the one that takes you to sit down). The owner came by and took a look. Asked which food item it was from but honestly I wasn’t sure since the cockroach was between the eaten chicken feet and mashed potatoes. She told me the mashed potatoes are made from a can so it must of been from the chicken feet. Felt sooo nauseous and grossed out that I made my whole family leave with me. Got our refund and an apology but we will not be returning nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. Eat at your own risk.

It’s pretty good if you like generic dining and, it’s no Ling’s Dining because they don’t change the food when it gets stale

Went for the first time it was extremely packed. Food didn’t really seem appetizing. In my opinion I taught it was a waste of money could of spent it elsewhere for much better.

lots of seafood here and i really enjoy them and the price is reasonable. But if you want to pay by card, you have to pay for extra money.

Its OK. I just go there when I’m hungry. Regular food as any other buffet. The hubby likes the crab, I like one kind of sushi, chow mein not bad, my kids like the pizza sometimes, prices i feel is over price. I like the coconut milk. I like the beef and broccoli but just the broccoli hate the beef part. I like the clam, muscle, I especially like the sugar donuts, ice cream is typical ice cream best thing about it is, its all you can eat. Its not the best though. But I like it still a little. Love the fruits oranges is bomb. Hubby and the kids love the orange so do I. I don’t eat most of the food because it’s tasteless. Will I be going again maybe in a long long time.

Huge selection of dishes. This Chinese buffet, unlike others I’ve been to serve a variety of different dishes. A big selection of seafood including cuttle fish and octopus. Food tasted ok, nothing spectacular.
Table and chairs were wobbly. They started cleaning the buffet an hour before closing time. I thought that was odd and unprofessional. Staff was making a lot of noise throwing used ice from dinner service back into buckets.
Service was good. We were just in town visiting and was surprised to have such variety for $ 15/​person (dinner) including drinks with free refills.

Went to lunch today with some coworkers, paid about $ 11 for the buffet and a drink. Seated by a hostess which I don’t mind but really holds up the lunch hour, she was VERY slow. We only have an hour, so I didn’t want to stand at the podium while each person pays, that’s a waste of time. They offered to bring our drinks which was very nice, also the servers cleared dirty plates promptly. Over all the place was tidy, not extremely clean but acceptable. The food was to be expected, it’s a buffet in Fresno NOT Vegas. The sushi is made fresh and was tasty. I enjoyed their make your own chow-​mein station. Didn’t try the mexican food, primarily stuck to the Asian food selection, was not disappointed.

Quality of food is dependent on time of arrival. If you get there early, the food is fresh and is pretty tasty. If you get there half an hour before it closes, like many Chinese buffets, the food tastes a bit old like it has been out for quite some time. Here is my rating according to category:

If you have an appetite for a quick Chinese bite but want something better than Panda Express or your neighborhood Chinese takeout, this is your place. I’ve lived here in Fresno for 20 years. I’ve been to pretty much every buffet there is (not a healthy thing to do) and A-​Star is second only to Lin’s Fusion.

I came here with a tour so we had one hundred plus people came in at the same time. They could handle it, amazing. The place was large and crowded.
Food was descent and got a large selection. I saw some people had got crab leg, steamed oyster, I just never got it. I like their sushi. They got a mongolian BBQ station but do not pick the beef, it was very chewy, other than that, the chef can do a good job.

Come here for the band competition, fund out this restaurant, a lots of food. And taste very good. Owner May and waitress joy are very nice. We enjoy this place and love it.

A star has always been busy everytime that I drive by their establishment. I’ve eaten here about 3 years ago, but since then, have not gone back until 4 weeks ago.
First of all, anyone over the age of 10 is charged as an adult. Once you pay, the hostest quickly seats you down if they are not busy. We had a group of 8, so we were seated in one of the back rooms. Once seated, the waiter asks you what you want to drink. They quickly bring that to you. The rest is up to you.
Food wise, they have an assortment of chinese food, tacos, ribs, salad bar, and desert bar. They also have a place where you can select your own meat, noodles, and vegetable and they will stir fry it in front of you. They even have ice cream too if you ask.
Overall, it’s a typical Chinese buffet that is on steriods. If you like buffet style, you’ll like this.
