— Very fast — Excellent attentive service — Great prices — Good food It doesn’t have fancy décor or uniformed wait staff, but you can’t beat $ 7 for some excellent spring rolls or a large Phở. It’s great for when you want to go to a real sit-down dinner but don’t want to spend a lot of money or dress up.

Seriously this place is vegan Paradise! They don’t have it on the menu, but we got vegan Phở and vegan spring rolls; both were seriously amazing! the waitress was fast, knowledgeable!

This place will probably forever be on my shit list. 30 – 35 min wait for a single plate of chicken vermicelli when they weren’t busy, and to top it off they brought out pork instead, SMH. To be fair, they did apologize(though, nonchalantly) and offered to remake it, but after waiting 35 mins or so for it, why the hell would I want to risk another long wait for a simple dish like this? Got them to refund my card, and got the hell out — screw this place.

My friends and I come here frequently. Our favorites here are the pad Thai, spring rolls, fried rice, and vermicelli bowl. Every time we come here, it’s usually slow so the wait for food isn’t long. Jongy is the best! He’s the waiter we always have and he gives excellent service. He present well and serve in a very good manner. The food are very delicious! I love my pad Thai extra spicy and with the deep fried tofu makes it so unique. Love this place very much!

We wanted to like this place. The people were sweet and we felt they needed the money. But the phở was weak — the broth tasted canned and both the«beef» and«chicken» were over chewy and frankly tasted like mystery meat. It was a convenient location, cheap eats but we will not go back.

It’s funny how they put«Vietnamese food» sign up. They need to take it down, because it’s not vietnamese food. Portion size= small. Haven’t gone here in a while. Checked in twice.

I LOVE this place. They have a couple of great vegan options(pad Thai vegan style, phở, spring rolls…) enough tasty goodness to fill up our family of 4. The part that makes me feel good is that the girl that is usually working remembered us after our first visit, we saw her skills with many customers. Super sweet.

The location is great as it’s right next to Fresno state, but the food is mediocre at best. I got phở here because my boyfriend wanted to try a new phở place. The noodles and broth were okay but the portions were small and expensive in relation to the size. Also the meat and seafood included in my dish definitely came from frozen bags as I’ve bought similar frozen food before. There wasn’t only Vietnamese food either as there was Americanized Chinese food too. The service was okay but I wouldn’t come back again. It’s basically all stuff I can make at home with frozen food from 99 Ranch.

College food maybe, authentic and worth your money? Not if you have a car, just drive to any similar restaurant in town and get way better food. Might be acceptable to certain people that ain’t familiar with vietnamese food… This here people are not what vietnamese food is suppose to taste like. I grew up with a lot of vietnamese and my wife is Vietnamese, do I need to say more? I’ve tried a couple dishes here but believe me, not worth a mention. I would feel insulted, if I was Vietnamese and someone took a claim to my cultural food and fail to execute miserably… I can almost feel their pain(ouch).

Ordered fried tilapia and beef phở. My gf had seafood phở and we shared the fish. This is our usual order except normally, we split a large order of Tom Yum to go with our fish and let me say this before I continue: the Tom Yum is delicious here. Service was extremely good in terms of order speed and friendliness but the food here always comes slow. That’s not too big of a deal for me unless I’m in a hurry and you can order your food in advance if that’s your type of deal. The tilapia is great here — one of my favorite places for this dish because the fish always tastes clean and comes out crispy how my gf and I like it. As for the phở– its average — I don’t think I would come here to eat just phở. Overall, this is a good spot in my opinion and the plus is that Pearl Tea House is next door.

Great phò!! Best in town and I’ve had all the McKinley ones… Jasmine beats them all down. The broth is excellent and made fresh daily! Don’t miss out on this gem!

I stopped by last Tuesday hoping for Vietnamese food for dinner. When I arrived, another couple getting there at the same time snagged the last clean table, and I walked up to the counter to ask to be seated. The hotesses/waitresses seemed very confused. They initially just asked if I was there for take out, but I mentioned that I didn’t know where to sit. One of them realized that the only tables available were really dirty and proceeded to clean one off, though she did it so quickly that it didn’t fully get wiped off. Anyway, I sat down, and a few minutes later, one of the waitresses brought water and a straw, but no menu. I would venture that 7 minutes went by, and one of the two waitresses came by to take my order, but realized I had never gotten a menu. She and the other waitress/hostess, giggled about the oversight, but once I got the menu and saw the prices for appetizers, I was somewhat taken aback. It’s as much for an order of spring rolls as it is for an entrée. The specials listed on the board near the register weren’t priced any more specially as far as I could tell either. Then, when there was obviously a huge argument in the kitchen, during which it actually sounded like a female might be getting hit by an angry male, I just thought it best to leave. The service was lacking for sure, and I didn’t want to chance what might come out of the kitchen where a brawl was occurring.

The vermicelli bowl was kind of gross. The beef was definitely way too chewy. I got the tofu curry noodle dish and it was alright. The tofu was gross and didn’t taste like tofu at all. But the waitress is nice and if you’re at state and need a quick(ish) bite, it’s good. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry, it takes them a while to cook.

I’ve been coming here since 2007, wow that’s 7 years. I’ve probably been here hundreds of times. Most of my experiences have been 5 star but a few times I ordered something I didn’t like. BUT that was my personal taste. The staff is so friendly and helpful every time. My favorite is the shrimp pad Thai and several soups. The spring rolls are a great appetizer. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

The other reviews that are disappointed with this place are accurate. It’s not real bad it’s just blah. The first time I’ve had deep fried spring rolls served at rm temp, not blistering hot like at other places. I also had the combo phở, wayyy too much imitation crab. The broth had a good flavor tho. The hot tea was served with loose tea leaves floating in the pot.

This is my first time here and I ordered a shrimp fried rice for pick up. They charged me $ 8.60(which is a reasonable price), but when I picked up the bag containing my fried rice it was so light it was unbelievable. I had to open it right away and there was a TINY amount of fried rice and shrimps in the to-go box. If it was at any other Asian restaurants for the same price, the box would be filled to the brim with rice and shrimps. This place is so stingy it’s ridiculous. Needless to say, this will be my first and last time here.

I come here all the time with my roommate. At first it took awhile to grow on me, but now. I love it. They know me and my favorite things so well, I don’t even have to ask unless I wanna change only the slightest bit. Service is great, its cleaner and homier than the other phở restaurants, and I am never dissatisfied :] I do love the pad thai, the phở, and the lemongrass tofu. They can guarantee me and my roommate as permanent customers :]

I’ve only been here a few times so far and have to say that I hadn’t been overly impressed with the few dishes I had. They were just OK. However, on my last visit, I ordered the khao poon(a Hmong chicken curry noodle soup) and have found my new favorite dish at JG. It came in a large bowl, steaming hot and spicy, slightly sweet from the coconut milk in the broth, and loaded with chicken pieces, veggies, and rice noodles that were slightly thicker and more slippery than phở noodles. It was so filling and satisfying, especially since it was a dreary day and I was slightly sick, so the spice level really helped clear my sinuses. And, at $ 5.95, it was one of the cheapest things on the menu — bonus! Since it seems the owners are Hmong, I guess it makes sense that they know how to make this dish… Based on my previous experiences with other dishes, I would rate this place with 2 stars, but am elevating it to 3 stars solely because of the khao poon.
