Found this tiny gem at the back of the strip mall. Owner was so sweet and helpful. The papaya salad was fantastic — so fresh and flavorful. Menu was nicely varied. I’ll be back for sure — want to try more, especially the soups.

This used to be my #1 place for chicken noodle soup but today I found a piece of HAIR in it. It wasn’t just sitting in the soup. It was a part of it. I pulled the hair out to look and it was in the noodle. So disgusting! My love for soup just died a little.

The egg rolls and spring rolls are very low quality but you do get what you pay for. Nam Kao is pretty good. The Curry Noodle was great the first time I tried it a few years ago, but returning back, I feel like it doesn’t taste the same anymore. Fried banana and egg rolls taste old. Thai tea was very good. Now to the customer service, it was dragging and a wait to get our order. It’ll be nice if they would’ve taken our orders all at once but we had to wait 5 – 8 minutes one after another. And one of us couldn’t get our food until the chef returned, which the staff did not even tell us until all the other food were set out. Left one person hanging with no food until everyone finished eating. The food is average, customer service needs a lot of work.

I came here with some friends who wanted me to try this place. I love hole in the wall restaurants because the usually have excellent homestyle cooking. I wasn’t surprised with the interior when I first entered; plain, not the most spic-n-span, but it did smell very good! I initially tried to order chicken stir-fry, but a lady, with very broken English, said something about not making it. So then I ordered pork stir-fry instead, and was then told that I would have to wait till Susan came(I think that is what she said). While waiting, I noticed a wall of empty water containers, The 5 gallon(made in the USA were priced at $ 10.99, and the 5 gallon(made elsewhere) are $ 1 cheaper. lol. There was a row of ten faucets to fill your jugs for an additional price. So the food finally came. The eggrolls where meatless, the Curry noodle has a tiny kick, the nam kao was a bit spicier and had long red chilis mixed in, and I liked the addition of peanuts added in my pork stir-fry. I did not approve of one small shrimp in my spring roll. But the Thai tea was sweet like a fruit smoothie… very tasty. I will be back.

I came here after a doctors appointment and I was a little hungry but not starving. I decided to get spring rolls. Thinking this place has 4 stars so it should be good… My spring rolls has three tiny shrimp total. One per spring roll. No peanut sauce either. So disappointing.

Love it here! Called 30 mins before they open and I asked her if it was too early to place an order. She is the sweetest. She said she will have my order done and she will unlock the doors for me, well my husband to be exact since he’s picking up the order. Everything always satisfy my taste and craving

I absolutely LOVE this place. I don’t even know where to start… I’m sad that I’ve moved because I haven’t found anything quite like Susan’s Deli. I always got the Chicken Noodle Soup and Papaya… sometimes throwing in their spring rolls, egg rolls, mango salad, and curry noodle. Yes, even though their selection was small I tried and liked pretty much anything. The condensed list of this place: Pros: Food Price People working there Cons: NOAC(so it kind of sucks during the summer when you’re eating something hot…) Basically, this place is awesome and eat here if you ever get the chance.

Was not impressed at all w/the food here. The chicken noodle soup was a bit bland and the noodle tasted like over-cooked udon. The chicken curry was also bland, tasted like it was watered down canned red curry sauce. Oh, and the banh mi. .. cold bread(not toasted like most that I’ve had all over town) and mayonnaise?! What happened to the pâté that is usually in a bahn mi? The papaya salad had an extremely strong fish sauce flavor that was overpowering. The best quality about this place is the low price, and that’s about it.

This place is one of the best Asian places I’ve gone to in Fresno. Maybe cause it’s Hmong and there’s a huge Hmong population here. The place itself is dirty and small with no AC during the summer but who cares when the food is super cheap and really good? Service is good and staff is friendly. Order it to-go or for here and try give you pretty good portions either way. Chicken noodle soup(kao piek): their BEST dish to get here!!! Only $ 5 for a decent size. Their broth is white, clear, rich, thick, and creamy with chicken and thick noodles inside. Served extremely fresh and hot. Piece of advice: add the chili and spicy sauce in to turn it a deep, dark red which makes it better for all you spicy lovers! Right amount of saltiness and so yummy :) Curry noodle soup(kao poon): this is the 2nd best item on their menu. Also $ 5 in a huge bowl. It kind of looks like bun rieu for all you biet people to compare. It’s an orange, reddish broth with circular white noodles. It’s not spicy at all so don’t let the color fool you. Spring rolls: $ 1 for 2 rolls. Pretty cheap for its quality. Nothing special about it and no meat in it but it’s so cheap All of their drinks are cheaper compared to other places in Fresno! I would come here to get it to-go CASHONLYSOCOMEPREPARED!!!

My favorite place for papaya salad! I have tried everything on their menu and its great too. Its not the nicest place in town. actually its a bit dirty. But the flavors definitely makes up for everything else! I only wish they were open on sundays since that’s my relaxing day. I just wanna be lazy and eat papaya salad and kapoon all day! Lol

My sis took me here instead of going to phở. Walking in I saw a water filling station and thought this was a little ghetto. Does that mean the water isn’t free with the meal? haha. She got her fav the chicken noodle soup and I got the curry noodles. The soups were amazing and tastes homemade so that’s where the stars are from. The sides of egg rolls, spring rolls and chicken skewer were meh but it’s so cheap you get what you paid for. I didn’t rate the service since I wasn’t expecting much and didn’t get much either but for the cheap meal I guess I’ll overlook that.

The chicken noodle soup here is amazing! I had it twice in a week because it was that good. The noodles are thick and the broth is peppery tasting. I was glad that the quality of chicken was free of fat and wiggly skin! My boyfriend had the seafood noodle soup. I’m not into the fish balls and imitation crab meat but he ate it.

My bf introduced me to this place 2 years ago and since then this has been my favorite go to place for papaya salad. There is just no other place that can be compared to Susan’s Deli. for the salad. I’m always craving for it. Its cheap and they give you so much for just the amount you pay for.

There is no ambience or décor, but who cares? I love the papaya salad and laab, soooooo goooooooood. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. Spring rolls are quite tasty. And my kids love the chicken kabobs and sticky rice. The staff is very friendly.

This place is definitely a small steal of a hole in the wall joint. Not only do they have great papaya salad, they have the best fried bananas I have ever laid hands on. The best. They fry them daily and they’re always warm every time. The batter that they dip the banana in is always light and fried perfectly to a golden brown. Plus its fairly cheap, 4 pieces for a $ 1. I always load up on them whenever I’m back home. If only they had more of these deliciousness around elsewhere. I miss my fried bananas. Time to go visit the parentals so I can grab a few soon. On a side note, they also have a water system where you go in to refill your gallons of bottled water. They also have about 3 tables with chairs for people who want to come in and eat their food, they do have other food to order. I’ve never personally order their other food as the bananas usually get me all the time.
