Attentive service. Great coffee and tea. Pastries and other breakfast/lunch items looked delicious, definitely going to pick up a few things next time we go in.

Stayed across the street from the café and came to get coffee and pastries every morning. Very good! Lots of locals visiting with one another so it has a very community, friendly atmosphere.

Great little place for coffee & a pastry. I got the house chai & cinnamon roll made from croissant dough. The chai was nothing special, but hot on a chilly morning. The cinnamon roll was oh my goodness amazing. Noticed it seemed to be a regular spot for the locals too, can’t go wrong with a spot like this when they have that many regulars.

Second best coffee on the island. Pastries are tasty, but my go-to favorite is the yogurt with granola. The only trouble I’ve ever run into is that the line can get pretty long, which one could hardly complain about. Great option for a quick bite while waiting in line for the ferry. The café is right next to the«B» overflow lot for the ferry.

Ran here when we were waiting in the ferry line. The pain au chocolate were delicious. Excellent, semi-sweet dark chocolate paired with buttery, flaky pastry. The other savory ham and cheese, and spinach and cheese pastries were equally delicious. I brought back a bunch of yummies for the people in the car, who promptly ate them all. Quaint, cozy coffee shop atmosphere, which would be perfect for relaxing on a Sunday morning. This place is good, not just good for the island, but good quality baked goods. You can’t go wrong. Recommend.

Good and coffee are solid here. Other than the lack of latte flavoring(only plain and vanilla), I really don’t have anything but good to say about that. However, the service here is lacking. People seem to come here in waves and the staff gets overwhelmed quickly. Espresso drinks take a while to get because the barista is busy not toasting bagels like you asked and smearing cream cheese on your cold bagel. A couple times of this and I had to find a new coffee place to hit up during my stay.

Hit up this gem on 4th of July morning. I had a slice of their bacon and swiss quiche. What I was taught as a child to be Quiche Lorraine. Dude, it was off the charts. Crazy bomb. I’m guessing the other baked goods are as delicious as they look. The coffee was certainly above average. There was a couple small hiccups. Me and my son were standing in line and the lady at the counter took somebody else’s order right in front of us. The lady basically was allowed to cut right in front of us. Then I ordered a Tall latte. The barista said«what size is that?» I then polity said venti or large. To which she scowled and said Oh thats Starbucks. Lol. Whatever, coffee snob. Lol

Love the selection, service and ambiance. Baked goods, sandwiches, gourmet pizzas made fresh. Delicious lattes with a choice of milks for non dairy eaters. Plus there are some gluten free choices. Friendly service and the best darn almond croissants I’ve ever had.

When you walk in the smell of the bakery is to die for. It smells so delicious, and it is warm and inviting especially on a cold day. They have a wonderful assortment of baked goods, and a nice selection of gluten free items. Friendly service and great coffees. The only downside is the tables, chairs, floors and bathroom are always dirty. I have been there several times and it is always the same, even in low season, it is in desperate need of a good cleaning.

The Amazing Café Demeter on Nichols Street in Friday Harbor has not only some of the BEST edibles on San Juan Island they truly care for customers, family and friends! Finding a local business with exceptional delights — not closed so close to Christmas and not closed until after the New Year holiday in our time of need proved to be near impossible. In a frantic last stop while holiday shopping I stopped into Café Demeter. Desperate to find help with a dessert for a Monday night Christmas party after a missed deadline with kitchen remodel… and though closed on Sunday Café Demeter delivered the most amazing cheesecake(warm to my truck) with a delicate sour cream topping on 12⁄21. Monday’s party came and the most amazing cheesecake(just like all their goodies and magnificent wine selection — for wine enthusiasts —) was enjoyed by candlelight over the silver and gold of Christmas just across the channel from Spieden Island. Thank you so Café Demeter for being ONEOFTHEGREATS! It is wonderful to have businesses that care, you saved our office Christmas celebration. We WILL call on your cheesecake again. #patodaysji

Best croissant this side of Paris. And everything else is that good, too. I will kneel down before the chef the day she rolls out brioche. Sign me up for 300 dozen.

Fabulous pastries and good coffee. Cute little place where locals and tourists frequent. Absolutely love the croissant cinnamon roll. It has crispy edges and a flaky inside. The breakfast pizza was yummy with a perfectly placed egg, parmesan cheese and much more. The pear hand formed tart was very tasty. We got a nice selection of cookies for later in the day. The service is prompt and professional. When I go to new towns, I look for a local bakery. This is one I will always come back to. Many unique selections that set them well above most bakeries.

OMG, impossible to resist. The variety of freshly baked offerings(both sweet and savory) is amazing. Coffee was great too. Would eat breakfast here everyday… If only they were open on Sunday.
