Between my wife and I we had grilled chicken, Caribbean chicken soup, fried plantains, and sides. The food was very tasty, not high end or overly ethnic Caribbean fare, but very tasty. The chicken was grilled perfectly and was moist. Service was fast, but there were only 4 tables eating when we arrived for late lunch on Sunday. Price was very reasonable. My only gripe has to do with cleanliness. We sat in a booth and while we waited the short time for our food, we noticed the floor beneath the table hadn’t been cleaned(at least swept) and there was dropped food. The material of the booth seats was stained despite the fact that this is a new store. The floor and seats need to be cleaned more meticulously in an eating establishment. That said we will be back!

We’ve passed by this restaurant a few times but never tried it until a friend recommended it. We’ve been there twice this week. Prices are reasonable, and servings are generous. OH my favorites are their sauces especially curry mustard and cilantro garlic! Try the plaintains, and corn soufflé.

My boyfriend and I come here all the time, atleast once every other week, and they NEVER let us down. Food is always piping hot and delicious, the service is quick, and everyone is so nice. I highly recommend this place!

I’m from Miami, where Pollo Tropical is huge, and at first, I was a bit skeptical. I wasn’t sure if it would be as good in Texas. However, when I came here, I had the ¼ chicken, and no joke, it was probably one of the best chicken plates I’ve ever had. The seasoning was incredible, and the chicken was very juicy. The rice and beans it came with were just as good, they were very tasty! I also had the cheesy Yucca bites, which were cold, so the cheese wasn’t gooey, but a solid, that wasn’t very good. However, everything else, the servers, the decoration, the music, and even the big sauce bar were all great! Just as good as Miami, I will definitely come back.

We have been to this location many times and enjoyed each visit. Especially with their coupons. There is another location located further north and west in Frisco. We usually get their Tropichops bowl as you can mix and match a variety of food items. They made a great first impression with menu choices. Excellent WiFi connection available. Your meal is brought to table and they provide silverware. Not the usual fast food service only better. Other foods served on plates. Lunch crowd on Sun gets larger after church let’s out so plan accordingly. See my recent photos for Mar 2015. If you take leftovers be sure to take some cilantro garlic sauce or other favorite sauce with you.

A little disappointed in this place. Been coming here since it has opened. The food was fresh and terrific. However the past 3 times I’ve gone, the brown rice has been undercooked and hard. The black beans are more like black bean soup. More liquid than beans and one time way over cooked. I keep going back expecting it will be the way it was at the beginning but I get disappointed again. Chicken is hot or miss the past few times. Flavoring hasn’t been consistent. I’ll maybe try again in a few months. I used to come every few weeks and sometimes once a week.

Having just moved back to Texas from Florida, we loved PT and were excited to have one open so close. Our first visit had us wait 25 minutes for our food. I was hoping this was because they had only been opened a few weeks, and had some issues to work out. Our second visit was not much better because we had lots of time to notice how dirty the place was while we waited 37 minutes for our food. But when the food did arrive, it was good. So tonight we decided to give it another try. We waited until 8 p.m. hoping the dinner rush would be over. Well… we waited 49 minutes for our food. When we asked about our meal, we were continually told that they were going to start«working on our meal next.» When we were finally served, our corn soufflé was still not ready. It arrived a whopping hour and 6 minutes after we ordered. I honestly don’t know if the food was that good or if I was just that hungry. I was ready to gnaw my arm off at that point! The manager finally apologized and said that we just caught them on a «bad night.» Well, somehow, we have managed to do that all 3 times we have visited. The food is good, but the wait is ridiculous. Fine dining establishments don’t ask their patrons to wait this long after ordering. Something is wrong with this location. I never had this experience at any of the PT locations in Florida.

I enjoy the chicken here… Very good/tender for being grilled. Some of the other stuff is a little questionable, maybe just because I’m not used to eating stuff like yucca and plantains on a regular basis. Not a huge fan of most the sauces they offer either. I think they raised their prices a little bit from when they initially opened, however it is still reasonably priced for a upper scale fast food spot. The drive thru can be painfully slow at peak lunch or dinner, and while the customer service seems like a high priority, not sure if the execution is always there(I’ve had my order wrong a few times). Overall though a nice change of pace for a lunch spot. Healthier than most spots as well because hardly anything is fried.

This was amazing as always we also tried the tropical punch with Rum. It seemed like it was pretty strong(or I am a light weight) but I loved it! Also got the fried Yuca with cilantro ranch Delish! Pulled pork plate with the corn soufflé BESTEVER. Also a Caesar salad that was wonderful great portions so we had to take some home! Place is clean fun music and great environment and always great food!

Rarely can a place survive if they don’t empower their employees to be critical thinkers. We stopped here tonight and I don’t eat chicken but was told the place sold pork and shrimp also. I saw a salad topped with shredded chicken on the board and asked the cashier if I could get that salad but with pork. She asked another kid behind the counter and he said they absolutely could not substitute anything on the menu. I said to the young guy, «you do know how easy that would be, right?» But she stood firm and said they were not allowed to substitute anything on the menu. No problem for me, we walked over to LaHacienda Ranch directly across the street and had a great meal.

Awful experience!, very slow and they don’t have a good manager. After 40 minutes waiting for our food I asked the manager and she said that they were going to start to work on our order! We just canceled our order and went to another fast food restaurant.

We live in Florida where PT is HUGE. So, we stopped here to compare. We were not disappointed. My husband even says the atmosphere was even better than in Fl. Their sauces are spot on, ice tea(mango is my fav) fresh, and the same great selection of foods. They are known for their chicken and pork. So, stick with those. If it’s your first time, I suggest the TropiChop bowl. Great variety and you can try a good deal of their veggies all in one bowl.

We came here recently and this particular location is not as good as the one in Addison. Service was slow — we waited over 20 minutes for our food and it wasn’t even crowded. We noticed other patrons receiving the wrong orders as well and one of the patrons did not have any chicken in his salad even though he had ordered a chicken salad. I prefer the chicken and corn soufflé. My wife likes the beef, but I find the taste of the beef a little odd. The pork is really dry and we wouldn’t order that again.

Not mexican… tropical carribean? citrus marinated chicken that’s grilled… whatever the case… It’s a healthier alternative to KFC… and they also got beef and pork on menu… I’m bored with Chickfila… They even open on Sunday… As a first timer I ordered the Trios… got some chicken… pork…beef…tried about 5 different sauces… yum stuff… worth coming back for…

Okay, I’ll say 3.5 stars, here’s why: The four stars would come from delicious chicken, mac n cheese, and my fiancé loves the corn soufflé. I was surprised that I wouldn’t love the beef, but their specialty really is their chicken. Try out the many different condiments they have at the toppings bar, especially the cilantro dressing! If we’re going for fast food, might as well get Pollo because everything just seems less fried and overly greasy. Oh and their chicken burrito is SOGOOD. The three stars comes from the drive-thru experience. The employee didn’t say hi, just collected the payment, shut the window, gave us the food, shut the window. No words were spoken. I know you’re young, but this is the time to learn some customer service skills. Actually, both times we’ve gone, the cashiers have stopped their service to engage in some giggling conversations. The server on the other hand was FANTASTIC. She was super sweet and accomodating.

Eagerly awaited this place’s opening and was so happy when they finally did. It’s good to have healthy options to the fried chicken tender and burger places, I said to myself. It’ll be great to have a taste of the tropics, I thought. I wish I could do 2.5 stars, but I can’t so I’m rounding up for effort. Went by on Friday, Saturday, Sunday but it was SRO, so we waited until today. The food is ok; I got the«Lite Tropichop» that was really heavy on the rice and lite on the chicken and veggies. Would prefer the opposite, really. Giant got the regular pork Tropichop and said it was ok after he loaded it up with salsa. Overall, the flavors were… somewhat less than enthusiastic. Maybe we’re just used to spicy here. Seemed to be a whole lot of folks standing around discussing business things. Problem was that they were blocking access to the ordering counter, the salsa bar, etc. The layout isn’t really conducive to free-flow. And, this is weird: at the salsa bar, the sneeze guard is set flat, not angled, and so low that you can’t ladle your salsa out of the container without spilling everywhere. Strange. Will we go back? Maybe… I’ll need to try the bone in skin on chicken before I bail forever.

Pretty good! Just tried this place for the first time. Grand opening of their Frisco location today and they seem very excited! Everyone is very friendly. I had the Tropichop with beef and yellow rice. It was so filling! I had no idea what sauce to use since they have so many. So after trial and many many errors, I found one that I liked. The mango sweet tea is pretty good! Whatever you do, don’t get the tres leches cake. We made the mistake of getting it… ahhhh that was not good. Soooo sweet and the cake tasted dry, which is weird since it’s drenched in milk. Other than that. I recommend the place, it’s a nice alternative to your typical fast food.
