If you are tempted to dine here, reconsider it. I can’t believe that out of nine entrée’s served, 5 were cold and had to be sent back. They serve no sweet tea !! Keep on moving. Way over priced.

Canned green beans. Only one baked potato in house on a Saturday evening. Cook didn’t want to be there. Customers were turned away, but the bar drinkers were welcomed. And this was labor day weekend. Only reason we went was everywhere else was packed.

We had a great experience stopping in while on vacation with the family. Very friendly staff, quick service and a good meal. The price was inline for the venue, since it’s vacation stop. The crab cakes were delicious. The crab bisque was good, but not as flavorful as it had the potential to be. All in all a good experience.

Great hospitality in this small family owned restaurant. I had fried fish of the day, and it was excellent! Tasted very fresh!

I know this place is a Hatteras tradition, but I think it’s sad and mediocre. Iceberg salads, drab seafood platters, tired paper placemats, laminate everything everywhere – sad, sad, sad. I feel like I’m eating in a dark cafeteria, not at the beach. Plus, the prices are as high or higher than much nicer places on the island. That said, my family loves this place, and some friends think it’s awesome, so who knows?

Great for lunch — lovely fresh salad bar with lots of choices. Light batter on the fish was tasty and nicely cooked. Clams, bluefish and flounder were moist and fresh. Best hush puppies on the island. Family friendly. Updated this year with attractive new décor, new menu but kept all the favorites. Still offering the yummy pies! Pecan coconut is fantastic!

Hush puppies were good, they’re on the sweet side if you liked your hush puppies that way. The rest of the menu is severely overpriced for what it is. Skip this place, and find somewhere that serves real seafood. It only gets two stars for the hush puppies.

Great crab cakes, but the service and prices aren’t the best. Their attitude in the menu is very stingy, but overall you’d enjoy a good meal here.

We love the Quarterdeck. We try to come at least once every time we are in the area. They have amazing fried scallops and hush puppies. They updated their appearance this year and it looks wonderful inside. Kelsey gave us a great service

My wife and I came to Hatteras for the first time this year & we decided to stop here. The good points was the flounder had a nice light batter & the hush puppies were great. The not-so-good points were: 1) the waiting times; we had to wait 20 minutes to just place a drink order. To be fair, they were also short handed tonight so the wait staff there was already scrambling to keep up. 2) the sides(as with previous posts) were average at best. 3) my wife ordered a New York Strip steak medium done and received a well-done, charbroiled steak. You can tell it had no marinade or rub. It was very bland. Also to be fair: you don’t come to the Outer Banks for steak(we’re just used to good steaks in TX), 4) lastly, we thought the prices were too high for the quality of food served. I thought the price of my Flounder plate was fair($ 19) but definitely not $ 26 for NY strip steak — especially the quality steak served. I’m not sure if we’ll come back but I would say stick to the seafood they are known for.

This was not a bad place, I had a decent meal but the coleslaw was tired and my scallops appeared frozen — they did come out very quickly. The décor was very run down and made me think my meal was too. Service was prompt and polite. The bill seemed expensive for what I received.

The food was everything I had hoped for. The Hatteras style chowder was absolutely delicious. The green beans not from a can but someone’s garden. Scallops were the sweetest I’ve had in a long time. The wait staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. This is a must go to when in Hatteras.

The scallops I had were good, but the place looked a little dumpy, and it was loud. The green beans tasted like they were from a can. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Go to somewhere else, like the Captain’s Table.

The flounder stuffed with crab was mediocre. The hush puppies needed more onion. The cole slaw was the highlight of my dinner. The French fries were not fresh cut. My fish and my husband’s steak(he ordered medium) were very overcooked. The food wasn’t very hot and served on cold plates. Not coming back this trip. Sorry.

We stop here at least once when we’re on the island. Fried scallops are always cooked to absolute perfection. Locals and tourists make it an interesting mix of patrons. Never had a bad meal here.

Every time we come to the Hatteras Island we come to Quarterdeck… at least once a trip. The best hush puppies on the island. The fish is always fresh and cooked just like it’s supposed to be. Not a gourmet restraraunt but a classic NC seafood that you can always trust for a great fish of the day or fried oysters.

So, this is a bit of a weird review, but roll with it. My boyfriend and step-brother came in on a Sunday, when everything is closed down in Frisco, and we made it in about 30 minutes before they closed for lunch. It was packed, and we were seated fairly quickly. We loved our waitress and her sassy behavior, but I can see how others wouldn’t. The food wasn’t great — I had a crab puff which was basically a double-fried crabcake. Others food was similarly over-fried, and not great. They forgot our hush puppies, but our waitress fried ‘em up herself for us to take home — and they were amazing. I say this is weird, because the hostess had an extremely visible, pretty big swastika tattooed on her ankle — the servers were wearing socks, and she could’ve covered it, but didn’t, and wasn’t wearing socks. So, I don’t really know what that says about the restaurant… but, you know, just an observation.

Since the last big storm that closed the highway, we had not been able to drive down south to Hatteras and in fact had not seen the lighthouse since it was moved. We drove as far as the free ferry and decided to turn around and have lunch in Frisco. We picked Quarterdeck after stopping at another place that was closed despite their hour postings. The Quarterdeck served us the best fried shrimp and scallops that we had on this trip. They were lightly coated and cooked perfectly. The portions were plenty large and the flavor was of that which only comes from really fresh shrimp. These were excellent. That’s about all you need to know. We also each had a cup of Crab Bisque that was, fine, fairly typical and not remarkable. It was the traditional style, with a little sweetness and hint of sherry and nutmeg. My coleslaw was an afterthought, edible but that’s about it. It is a nice place. The service was fine despite them being short handed. It worked out though because of the off-season and the fact that we were well after any noon rush. Based on the shrimp, I would stop here again. I rate it in the high end of three stars based on the shrimp that we had that day.

Have been coming to Quarterdeck for many years. Their seafood is always fresh and prepared well. Their hushpuppies are the best and their crab bisque is unsurpassed. Their desserts are amazing. Basic atmosphere. As local as you can get.

Decent but nothing to write home about. Got the combo with shrimp, scallops and crab and it was fairly good. Hush puppies were sweet. Service was ok, but interior was kind of blah.
