If I could give 0 stars I would. Probably one of my worst dining experiences in the last 5 years. We made a reservation for 8 people for 7PM to celebrate an occasion. My wife and I arrived 30 minutes early and got a couple glasses of wine. Unfortunately my Merlot had oxidized and had to be replaced(it happens). The rest of the group showed promptly at 7 and we were seated. Drinks, salad and appetizers were ordered and we were having a fun time. Unfortunately the server didn’t take our entrée order until 8. Since we hadn’t been together for over 6 months we were catching up and didn’t complain. We waited for 75 minutes and finally told that our entrée were just dropped in the kitchen and would be out in 15 minutes. 25 minutes later we finally told the manager that 9:40 was ridiculous and that we were unwilling to stay. Poor table server, kitchen management and restaurant management. Certainly for a $ 500 dinner we expected more. With the plethora of steak restaurants I would encourage you to look elsewhere. There is no reason to reward this establishment because it has been around for years.

Great meal last night. I had the crawfish stuffed, it was great! All of us had the filet except one person had the pork chop, it was huge, and it was in a bourbon peach glaze, I had a bite, it was slow cooked perfectly. Great meal experience. They do serve all sides separately. A little pricy with drinks, but well worth it. A great place to take visitors from out of town, in a old 1869 home atmosphere.

Randy’s is that special occasion steak house. The historic home in downtown Frisco is deceiving, it is much larger and cozier on the inside then it looks. It’s a pricier restaurant with an a la carte menu but the sides can be shared family style. I had the blackberry filet but in hindsight wish I would have gone for the NY Strip or bone-in ribeye. I’m a steak purist and wasn’t a big fan of the sweetness in the reduction. However the steak was so tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare so no complaints there. With my Tito’s martini with blue cheese olives, I don’t remember too much about the sides. Most of our party had the file however one person ordered their bourbon peach glazed pork chop. That was a sight to behold and large enough for 2 people to eat. Since it was a Sunday, the restaurant had very few diners. We were enjoying the quiet intimate setting until a large raucous party of were brought in and seated at the table next to ours. Other than that we had a great meal, decent service and amazing food.

I’ve waited a day to write this review as I had hoped I could write a better one. But I can’t. So I took my girlfriend here on our anniversary. Crab cakes as an appetizer were quite good. Salad was ok, nothing special. She ordered the petite filet and I got the bone in ribeye. I’m attaching a pic and it looked great. Probably the biggest steak I’ve ever seen. It was cooked perfectly in the middle which can’t be easy. Problem is all I could taste was the charred exterior. The meat had no flavor. My girlfriend had the same issue with hers, well except the charring. How can you spend 140.00 for two people, with no alcohol mind you, and walk away not remotely enjoying the steaks. Granted I’m a steak snob. But if you check my reviews I rarely give bad reviews. Matter of fact I gave a good review of this place in the past. But last night they may have lost any future business from me. Which for the record stinks as this location is close to me. In my opinion, go up the tollway to Ruth’s Chris.

Came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and was embarrassed. Walked in and there was no hostess. Had to walk into the dining hall to get attention. Poor first impression. Requested a nice romantic table in advance but we were placed in the far back, out of sight of service. The old and outdated chairs were stained/uncomfortable. Randy(owner/chef) walked around to greet the big tables but no one else. Food was ok but not prepared correctly. We both ordered a filet mignon medium well, but both arrived well done and not prime steaks. Stuffed mushrooms and molten chocolate was delicious though. $ 12.75 for Moscow mules is ridiculously overpriced!

We just ate at Randy’s today. We were looking forward to having a great place to have steak nearby. Well, it was a huge disappointment! Driive the extra 15 minutes on the Dallas tollway and get a real steak price for an extra $ 20⁄25 not to mention get good service. I guess the fact that we were seated right away on a Saturday night at 7 pm should been telling enough. Stupid us!!! Location — cute ambiance a s it is located in the historic Campbell home in old a Frisco. Could be cleaned up. And bathroom floor had a cockroach!!! Service — horrible. If you are going to hire young people, please train them. As for the waitstaff — slow & not engaging. My husband had to stand up and tell our waitstaff that we wanted our bread! We love high-end places because of service. We’ll this isn’t the place you’d get it. Drinks — Tuaca lemon drop cocktail was very good. Appetizers — stay away from the 4 piece mediocre shrimp cocktail for $ 14.00! I mean these were 4 previously frozen shrimp — or at least it seemed like it. Calamari was good. Entrée — 12 oz steak was tasty but nothing to brag home about for the price. Crab cakes were blah… Again, for the price point, I somewhat expected something better. Bottom line — this is not a cheap steak place. Its a la carte and the steak typically cost $ 35 – 40. By the time you add it up — it’s about $ 60 – 70 pp. including our appetizers. so, spend a few dollars more and head south. What really got us was the service, or lack thereof. I think we would have overlooked the price if we had good service. C’mmon, this is North Dallas — too many choices for good restaurants. Needless to say, this is the first and last time for us. Too bad…

Service was great! Very interesting history in a historical building. My husband had the 12 oz filet medium rare that was great. He said you could tell it was hand cut and very flavorful/buttery. I had scallops that were okay-a bit rubbery for my taste-slightly over done but not bad. The bread to start and the butter were very good. The baked potato was average and the asparagus-steamed was fresh. Overall, reasonable prices, great wine selection and very good steak. We will be back! The waiter told us they have a great happy hour 5 – 7 pm during the week that we will be back for-everything half off-even single malt scotch!!!

One of my favorite steakhouse’s. the food is exceptional — from the appetizer all the way through to the desserts… although the chairs can get to be a little uncomfortable the interior is a bit antiquated… i don’t go there for the unusual rustic environment, i go there because it’s great food, laid back, and the staff is very friendly… the kind of place that doesn’t try to appear to be something it isn’t

The food here is amazing. Everyone has already written about it. I like to come to Randy’s for the bar. Anna makes the place feel like home. She literally has the deft ability to keep me well-filled, but not over indulged. I love her. Randy does a great job making himself available too. Any(there won’t be) problems and you’re welcome to talk to him. The bar menu is phenomenal. And again, Anna gives the best service. I feel weird recommending the chiller side of Randy’s, but it’s where it’s at. But definitely try the real menu too. You won’t be disappointed.

This is a charming restaurant with old school décor. Hubby and I dined here before 6pm on a week night and appreciated the quiet. We really enjoyed the brie appetizer, mac & cheese and the service! However, we chose to order seafood at a steakhouse. Hubby had crab cakes. I had salmon. The food was good it just wasn’t great. While it’s worth a try, you should be in the mood for red meat in order to justify the expense.

This will be a different type of review as our dinner had some issues: My wife and I went here for the first time for Valentine’s Day. A very different homey environment that a traditional steakhouse. We were seated immediately and serviced immediately as well. Very laid-back atmosphere and extremely pleasant waitress. Our issue came with our steaks as my wife ordered medium+ and myself medium. We think they simply got the temperatures backwards as mine was near well done and my wife’s was closer to medium. Our waitress noticed this immediately and we stated we would be okay with everything but she could sense my wife wasn’t overly happy(who doesn’t like to complain.) A manager came over shortly thereafter and asked if she could please re-do the steaks of which we agreed. Our ticket was taken care of, our new steaks came out perfectly and quickly, the sides were great, and they turned a potentially problematic evening into a great experience for us. We will be going back again and possibly just for the fact that they took care of us so well. And did I mentioned the steaks were extremely good? We tipped our waitress $ 50 as she deserved it(especially on Valentine’s Day.) This is just an example of how incredible service can do wonders for an establishment.

Dinner was very tasty. I loved my Crawfish stuffed Filet. Husband had the New York strip and said was ok. The potatoes were yum. Service was average not stellar. I had the«Randys» Alexander for dessert it did not disappoint(it was potent). Hubby had their melting cake(which takes 20 minutes so plan ahead)…he really enjoyed it. All this in quaint historic type house

I went back there again last night and I had to bump up the score because the food was so amazing, as it was on my previous visit. Service was better(although we’re talking Tuesday night), but I stand by my assertion that you pay too much for what you get. Lower the total post-tip ticket for two so that it lands in the mid-100’s, improve weekend service and parking, and this becomes an easy 5-star for me.

You might call me crazy for saying that every time I go to Randy’s, I go because they make the WEDGIEST blue cheese salad wedge around! I have fallen in love with the wedge salad. It has the perfect amount of bacon and blue cheese crumbles and it’s the perfect starter for a ribeye steak cooked rare. The onion rings are pretty darn good too. The atmosphere is nice… antique photographs on the walls of babies/small children are creepy but in a good sort of way, and the creaky uneven floors of this Victorian home make one feel as if they are stepping back in time. If Randy is around he will come out and say hello to his guests. I sure wish he’d start having live music again! This is a nice romantic place to go for an anniversary dinner or graduation party.

We made a reservation for 12 people on a Saturday night on Open Table. Randy’s called me back to ask if we had any special requests or a special event. Already I was impressed with the service and we hadn’t even arrived yet. Randy’s is a historic house in downtown Frisco. It has been retro fitted to be a steak eatery. On the inside it is homey with a homestead feel. When we arrived we were given a private room for our table of 12. That made us feel very special. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. No one at the table was drinking wine so I didn’t have someone to order a bottle of wine with so I just had a glass, but the wine selection was very good. I decided on a Malbec. It was incredibly good. For starters they brought out fresh baked bread and garlic butter. It was all amazing and it was only the bread. I had the filet mignon cooked medium. It was sheer perfection… brown on the outside and pink on the inside. It also was melt in your mouth tenderness. The hubby had bone in and it was the size of his face. He couldn’t even finish it. We ordered asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes as a side. I was an incredible meal with family. We will be back.

Love this place! Food is always excellent. The BlackBerry filet is wonderful! Randy always comes around and visits. A great place to go for a special visit(even if all you’re celebrating I’d the fact it’s Saturday!).

/TL;DR So much promise. It makes me sad that this place executed everything so well — except the steak. This place has everything — charm, ambiance, and service. /ATMOSPHERE It felt like we drove forever, into the middle of nowhere to get here. It’s in a charming, old, white house which exudes southernness. Upon walking up to the front door, I had a chance to read over the menu, which immediately made me think… damn, this place is legit. /FOOD I had a chance to try some of the appetizer stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp cocktail. Both were on point. I was really excited getting a cut of aged, filet mignon. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t stand up to the flavor of better steakhouses I have been. Bread pudding was amazing. Considering all else was quite good, I would try going and giving this place one more go. /SERVICE Slow and methodical, with a cadence you can only find in a steakhouse. Cheers to synchronized dining. HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

Not my absolute favorite steakhouse but very good none the less. We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation at 6 on a Friday night and the place was rather empty. The place inside is A LOT larger than it seems from outside. And it has such a homey feel. Our waitress wasn’t the most attentive and disappeared for long periods. We had the stuffed mushrooms and they weren’t cooked though, just the outsides and they were raw. I mean, I like raw mushrooms so I am not complaining there but did expect them to be cooked. We shared the mac n cheese which was wonderful and then we each got a steak and baked potato. I left STUFFED. It was all very good. However, for a steak dinner… just not my favorite. As Randy pointed out, I didn’t mention which steak I had! I had the filet mignon and it was cooked medium, just as I ordered it.

Loved this place! Stayed open late for us after a baseball game. Food was awesome! Old School ambiance, cocktails and wine were on point! The Brie plate yum! This may be the first 5 stars I’ve given … Loved it! Prices were probably more $$$$ if you’re having cocktails and or wine.

We went here for the first time to celebrate our birthdays & anniversary(yes, it all happens in one week). It couldn’t have been more perfect. It was my husband, our young daughters, & my parents. The waitress was attentive and just down right fabulous. Randy came by our table a few times checking on us, which is a nice touch and something always ignored other places in today’s bustling corporate restaurant business. We had wine, amazing stuffed mushrooms, wedge salads, & I had the bleu cheese stuffed filet. All were cooked to perfection and delicious. They comped 3 desserts for our table because the celebrations!!! We left with leftovers because the portions are generous. This place was cozy and wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a better place & evening. We will definitely be back!
