A friend and I drove out to Shenandoah with the best intentions. Lacking the gear to backpack and camp in the woods, we decided we would stay at one of the park’s drive up campsites. After two busy work weeks, we headed off from the DC area with barely a plan. When we checked the weather and saw that lows would be in the 30s, we questioned our resolve to stay outdoors. We looked at nearby hotels, including the Scottish Inn. But our determination prevailed — we went shopping for supplies, bought firewood, and headed to the park to camp outdoors. And every campsite was full. Thinking we had been defeated, we made reservations at the Scottish Inn and embarked on a short hike in Shenandoah. But when we headed back to the Scottish Inn, we were impressed by the value. Although the rooms are certainly dated, they’re quite clean. I believe our fellow guests were also defeated campers, so that seems to be the crowd that finds themselves here on weekends. Spelunkers is a short walk, and well worth it for burgers and frozen custard. Nothing fancy, but we were satisfied. Recommended.

Pros: cheap. Kind of clean. Free WI fi. Cons: cheap. KINDOFCLEAN. No ice machine. What do you expect. Not bad for the price.

Very clean room with basic amenities and well maintained. No frills but price is righteous. Thumbs up!

For $ 40 bucks on our road trip to Alabama it was exactly what you’d expect. It was clean, free HBO, and quiet. Outdated amenities, questionable carpeting and some very strange neighbors.

After staying at the Hyatt in Fairfax, Va for $ 60 through , this place was not the deal I thought it would be. It provided what we needed, a place to sleep and showers. The bathrooms were clean, but outdated. The sheeting seemed clean but the comforter was dirty, so we removed it and used one of our own. The mattress was pretty old from what I could see and my boyfriend woke up with some suspicious bite marks on his arm(bedbugs?). The hotel does not offer a continental breakfast, but the lady behind the counter was very nice and allowed me to put our ice packs in her freezer. The room for one night in July was $ 40.
