Big B’s Barbecue is an old school and long standing option when in the Fullerton area, but a more robust experience can be found nearby. There is no question of Fullerton’s love for the owners of Big B’s Barbecue and their next door bar venture Brian’s Beer and Billiards. Between their ties to the community, their support of nearby CSUF and the local events they sponsor the Fairley’s deserve a nod for being so engaged and just… very, very cool business owners. Even the staff and interior of Big B’s feels warm and inviting, almost as if you are in a good friends kitchen. The prices are even fair for the genre. I was able to get a barbecue sandwich, side and drink while still getting out of the door for around $ 11.00. Try that at Lucille’s. Torn between the Bratwurst(a severely lacking option here in OC) and the«BBQ Beef Sandwich» I enlisted the help of the person who took my order and she was quick to say she is a much bigger fan of the latter. I heeded her advise, ordered the Potato Salad as a side and within 10 minutes it was game time. The BBQ Beef Sandwich is a pretty straightforward affair consisting of a French Roll delivery mechanism and Roast Beef that is cut thin and ripped apart(think Portillo’s Hot Italian) and then flash heated in a pan as their barbecue sauce is slathered into the mix. If you are wondering were the smoke part comes in like I did you are in for a big surprise. There is none. The sauce is the barbecue. You read that right. Obviously the flavor profile is paper thin: Roast Beef and a sweet, vinegar-rich Barbecue sauce. And… well, that’s it. To be fair the superbly fresh Roll is in there too but let’s face it, this isn’t barbecue by definition which is meat flavored by the smoking process. It is a Beef and Barbecue Sauce Sandwich and it honestly isn’t very good at all. The Potato Salad was rather bland as well and could use a strong blast of Mustard or the heat of Jalapeño to liven things up. On it’s own it fails to impress. I can say this much: their pickle was on point. It was my favorite part of the meal! In closing this was not a true barbecue experience in my opinion, I was pretty disappointed with my lunch and I would imagine you may be as well if you are looking for some real deal ‘Cue. I would recommend directing your phone’s Google Maps application to nearby Leadbelly’s and see what slow and low means.

When your co-workers treat you out to lunch, you can never say«No!» to a free meal. One of my senior colleagues thought about headed out to a local barbecue joint. Its not one of those big franchise/names that is all over the nation. This one is more a hometown barbecue joint. When you want more of heart and soul into your open flame food, you head over to Big B’s Barbecue in Fullerton. Located on a shopping plaza on the northeast corner of Placentia Ave and Yorba Linda Blvd. at the furthest north corner, you will find the small, but locally fan favorite, Big B’s Barbecue. When you arrive, you would think its a big fancy restaurant. Nope! Its actually a small store with a couple tables inside and outside. No more than 10 can be seated inside. It can get quite packed inside. Just before you enter, you’ll notice a bar to the right of Big B’s Barbecue. It’s also related to the Big B’s called Brian’s Bar and Billiard. Both owned by Brian Fairley. The ordering process is fairly simple. There are menus at the counter and you pick your meat to be barbecued. Since we came in at lunch time, Big D’s has a special on lunch. It can range from ribs to chicken to fish & chips. Their famous pork ribs are extremely famous with Big D’s and the crowd. Big D’s offers many various sandwiches from beef, chicken, pork, and even a turkey sandwich. Of course, we were here to try their famous barbecue. Since I don’t eat red meat, I opted to get to get the Chicken Lunch Special: ½ of a Chicken with Potato Salad and a fresh bread roll($ 10.25). The wait for our food was about 10 minutes. While we were waiting for our lunch, I took a quick gander around the room. Since the room was very small, it was a quick scoping of the dining area, if you call it that. Besides the obvious, television and the miniature pinball game, I noticed a couple awards and a city resolution. Well, look it here. Big B’s Barbecue does play a big role in the city. Well, that puts them on the city map. The lady called our meal orders and it was time to dig into our barbecue. Every dish from the ribs to my half chicken looked very good. I didn’t get to see what kind of oven Big B’s uses, but it was good enough to have their ribs fall off the bone. As for a chicken, mine was sweet and charred. I love how the meat fell off the bone. With the barbecue dipping sauce, it made my meal more delicious. Trying on the sauce alone, it will be a tad salty. The potato salad was OK. There wasn’t anything special about it. As for the bread roll, I am not sure if it was baked fresh or it came out of the bag. It was hard to tell. The size was pretty big for a roll. Nice and fluffy. The overall meal was above average. Big B’s doesn’t have a big sign or a big restaurant. It relies on the local community to make this popular. With Brian’s Bar and Billiard as one of the oldest bars in the area, its a true testament on their story and how they want to live their lives. If you don’t feel like firing up the grill, let Big B’s Barbecue cook up your meat. They’ll be tasty, smokey, and more importantly delicious! Get your bib because your clothes are going to covered in sauce. At least, your fingers will be. Unilocal…My passion is not to write my reviews, but to share my experiences with you. Take that journey and share your story.

This place is great. I get the beans as a side and the potato salad. Chicken or Ribs as a main. Perfect for a college student bachelor.

2 stars because the service, the bartender was very attentive always kept my glass full, the BBQ pork sandwich was horrible, I guess I spent too much time in Texas. And I’m too picky, come here for the drinks and sports, but come fed, as the food was not my favorite, unless You are into pickle eggs.

I needed a place where I can get some bbq pulled pork. I Unilocaled this place, which had good reviews. So I ordered 6lbs of pulled pork and what I got was mexican food. It was the worst pulled pork ever.

The ribs are good. My only complaint is that they messed up my order. I ordered a pint size pasta salad to go so that I could share with my family, but instead got a small. A pint size wouldn’t have been enough, but now some sacrifice will be needed! I suspect the guy who got a combo and was supposed to have a small ended up getting my pint. *cry* Update: Owner offered on Unilocal immediately to fix the error plus more. Did not take offer but I am thankful. :) Will be back again for more ribs.

If you’re from California and never had real bbq from the Midwest then I suppose this place would suffice. Like most bbq joints out here they equate a lot of bbq sauce with being good. The thing is, is the sauce they use is sour tasting and not very good. It overpowers the flavor of the meat. I ordered a tri tip sandwich and my son got pulled pork, we both shared some ribs. None of it was great, none of it was horrible either. I suppose if you are really hungry you could do worse, and it’s always better to give your money to small places like this rather than some fast food chain, but I would recommend trying someplace else.

Seriously worth the drive from San Diego. It’s delicious and always consistent. The ribs are fall off the bone and the sides are too die for. I love the beans and potato salad. Small dining room, better for take out. It’s all about the ribs here!

This was the worst burger I have ever tried to eat. So bad actually that i only took 3 bites. My husband and I placed a to go order. He got the ribs, I got a burger, and we got an order of chicken strips. When I unwrapped my burger and looked at it, it was completely grey in color. Against my better judgment I began to eat it. It was so over cooked and tasteless that I had to stop after only 3 bites. I’ve eaten here before and wasn’t too impressed with the food. Now that I’ve given it another try and was even more disappointed I DEFINITELY won’t be going back again. My aunts burnt Walmart burger patty meat was actually better than this.

Hands down the best BBQ place in town. The ribs are the best and are a goto for my family at least 2 – 3 times a month. My advice order from home, usually about 15 – 20 they are ready for you.

I love this place. After the first time I tried their ribs I came back the next day with family to be blown away again. The ribs were delicious fell off the bone! & all the side dishes were great! eating space is small or you can eat outside. For 21 over you can eat at the bar next door(drinks & a pool table, my type of night!)

A co-worker of mine introduced me to Big B’s yesterday, when we swung by for lunch. Based on the food alone, this place gets 5 stars. I ordered the chicken and rib lunch combo, except I subbed a chicken breast in place of halved chicken. The food took a while to prepare, but came out piping hot and fresh. The chicken breast was bigger than the 4 – 5 rib bones. The fries were hot. They gave me sides of extra BBQ sauce and ranch without having to ask. The rib meat was tender and fell off the bone. Definitely 5 stars on food, hands down. The actual eating area in Big B’s is the size of my work cubicle. There are a few tables and a bar top. We had to eat outside at a picnic table, where cars were driving close by. I understand that the bar next door has the same owners and that they serve the same BBQ. I’ll definitely check out the bar next time. A star was deducted for the prices. The lunch combo was $ 12.95. The chicken breast substitution was $ 1.00. A drink was $ 2.00. Out the door, my damage was $ 17.07, which is very pricey for a lunch. The food was very good, however. I will definitely return. Next time I will try one of their sandwiches, which all sounded very good. Take a look at my photo and give it a thumbs up.

The best ribs you can find!!! They fall off the bone clean! It’s a great little hole in the wall restaurant. I would highly recommend it. The sides we had; potato salad and beans were only satisfactory but we came for the ribs! There was a bit of a wait to get our order.

Best ribs and chicken anywhere in north oc. We always get the order to go as they don’t have much of a dining room. Sides we love-fried zucchini, fries, onion rings, bbq baked beans. The chicken breast sandwich is also very tasty. Finger licken good!!! We also ask for extra bbq sauce for dipping. Mmmm!

This place is the best bbq in Orange County. It’s a hole in the wall hidden secret that takes me back to my college days. I take it to work parties, family gatherings, and just for my own lunch break. Must try!

Was in the area and searched for BBQ. Found Big B’s BBQ. Brian’s Bar is next door and the they take orders for Big B’s. Inside is small. Can seat maybe 10 but they have a picnic table out front. I ordered the Chicken Breast sandwich. Went next door to Brian’s. Told Laura(the bartender, who was pleasant by the way) I was expecting a sandwich. Sat at the bar and ordered a schooner of Newcastle. Waited about 10 mins for my sandwich arrived. The Coleslaw side was just shy of creamy. It was fresh and tasted just right. The chicken breast sandwich was very good. Grilled, with just a touch of BBQ sauce and mayonnaise. Served on a hogie roll with a thick slice of tomato and a couple leaves of crunchy lettuce. Will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

I found this place when I went to the barbershop next door, otherwise I wouldn’t have known it was there. I brought my son, since he wanted to try a new BBQ place. We ordered a half slab, fries and beans to share and some drinks. The ribs did take a while to prepare, but we weren’t in a rush. We ended up staying and enjoyed our meal while watching a baseball game on tv. The ribs were nice and tender, and literally will fall off the bone after biting into it. Some have complained about the beans. These are pinto beans, cooked in a nice southwestern style. I enjoyed the beans. My son loved the BBQ ribs and has already recommended the place to others. The service was good, and the staff was really friendly. That’s what’s nice. Of course I will be back.
