Comfortable couches and cashier offered to prepare a fresh turtle brownie for me, yay… only issue is its a bit dark inside if you go there to study

This place is great if you like hanging out with homeless people and drug addicts! The exciting part is you don’t know if the coffee you ordered is freshly brewed or been sitting in the pot all day. It’s the same for the pastries: they may or may not be fresh, a day old, a week, if flies been sitting on them or they just got out of the package! The service keeps you on your toes too! One day the barristas and/or owner may be in a good mood, another time may be not. That’s just the way it goes. I’d give them a 5 instead of a 4 except they don’t have a food pantry, homeless shelter, or second hand store. When they open one up, I’ll change my stars to a 5!

Worst. Service. Ever. Very rude and not worth putting up with for the nice looking atmosphere. In short: Walked in to get a drink to go. The woman behind the counter very rudely told my friend behind me(who was not going to purchase anything) to buy something or leave the establishment. McClains is a money hungry business that forces individuals to purchase their mediocre food/drinks and charges for their wifi. The people working there don’t even want to be there.

This is my first impression of this place. I decided to come here because it was the only thing that was open. I wanted to just study… For Food/Drinks: I got a hot chocolate. It wasn’t bad. It was served in a styrofoam cup. I believe there are 3 sizes? and i got a medium. The chocolate mixture sank to the bottom at the end. It did not taste watered down, and she even added whipped cream. They had other pastries and things but I didn’t get anything because I had already bought other take-out. For Customer Service: THEWORST. ABSOLUTEWORST. I have EVER experienced. I walked in really admiring the atmosphere/ambience of the place. It seemed really nice and cozy, the place looked like it was filled with nice homemade desserts and other pastries. I came in with a great mindset and asked the owner(blonde middle aged lady) what she would recommend me drinking. She said well i dont know what you like… what do you like? like lattes? coffee? espresso? with a VERYANNOYED attitude… well im sorry that i asked? … like my bad… i mean you could have just said you don’t know everything is great or something like that. i mean if it was too much for you to sincerely recommend something from your coffeehouse then dont bother. simple as that. She also noticed that I had a box of take out. She was very offended and was so mad that we would even think about eating something else at her place, which I definitely understand… I asked if it was okay. if she allowed people to eat outside food. she went on saying yeah thats fine… but you better buy something here.(of course… why wouldnt i?) So i continue to put up with her rude attitude and order a hot chocolate. Meanwhile I’m still staying very neutral about the whole situation. I dont like letting other people get under my skin because it only makes me as bad as them. I asked if her hot chocolate had caffeine in it… and that just sprouted way more attitude and rudeness and dramatic sarcasm. her comments consisted of : «oh wow… really i didn’t know that… hmmm idk. in my 25 years of serving coffee i had never had anyone ask me that. why dont you search it up?» «really? in hot chocolate?» «how bizarre» «that’s a thing?» Like WOW… yes ITIS a thing. if you think you are such a genius and know everything about coffee and caffeine and what not then pleaseeeeeeee go ahead and let me know because I would actually honestly like to hear it. I actually appreciate and respect other people. so this should go back to the lesson if you dont have anything nice dont say it at all… especially if it jeopardizes your reputation. but i mean if that’s who you are. then that’s who you are. i guess i can’t judge. I would just not support anyone going through what I went through. to each their own! Overall– 5⁄10 Customer Service– 1⁄10 Quality of Food/Drinks– 8⁄10 Price–($ 3+)

Tonight I decided to try one of McClain’s chicken wraps with my double cappuccino, and it tasted great! My boyfriend and I always enjoy hanging out here for coffee with friends, and I now can add that the food is very good, too. The ladies that work here are really sweet, and the whole atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed with cool tunes playing inside the house and outside on the patio.

After going to McClain’s for awhile you become part of the coffeehouse family. Owner, Cam, looks out for you and does her best to do whatever she can to accommodate your needs. She’s stayed open late for me while I finished a paper, saved me a comfortable seat to study at. She’s made me feel at home in her business always. They have delicious baked goods including this pumpkin bar that’s divine. I love their sandwiches and their coffee is good. McClain’s is the ONLY coffeeshop in the area I go to, and for good reason.

I wanted to give this place one star, but the cool seating inside is what made me give the extra star. This is a coffee house, yet it’s THEWORST coffee I have ever had in my life. It’s not even hot, it’s luke warm after cream, and it tastes like pure water, even having it black. How can you call yourself a coffee shop? There’s one bigger girl that works here that constantly cusses extremely loud so all of us inside can hear her, she’s very loud and rude, she apparently hates girls that are skinnier and prettier than her. It’s also really difficult to read anything while Marilyn Manson is screaming over the speaker. They need to change some things, but they won’t. I’ll find somewhere better.

I don’t know what all these negative reviewers are ranting about, this place is legit. The girls who work here are all really cool, the coffee is hot and the iced tea is cold. There are a lot of comfy couches to hang out in, and they dont mind if you stick around for a couple of hours. This is a great place to hang out with your friends, to have a meeting, or to get some work done. At night it usually gets pretty packed. During college season there’s a lot of college kids coming in here to work on homework and socialize and stuff. As others mentioned, it’s cash only, but there’s an ATM right at the counter in case you forgot to bring cash. Know what you’re going to order when you get up to the counter and everything will be OK. And make sure that everyone in your party orders something. Nobody likes freeloaders.

That awkward moment when the barista and guests cuss up a storm loudly in front of kids and mid-study. Classless. Not the first time either

Very open setting. There’s an outside and indoor section of the place. The coffee is pretty good! It kept me up all night to study for my exams. Theres couches to study and tables to sit around and hang out with some friends. Parking seems okay… *** MAKESUREYOUBRINGCASH not card. My mistake on not knowing that :(

I love this place! It’s a great place to grab coffee and chill with friends or to study. The food is delicious(I highly recommend the pastrami with avocado) the coffee is strong(esp the sledge hammer!) and the desserts are awesome(brownies and cookies are both good). I love Cam. She’s awesome and a kick ass woman. Just don’t do anything stupid cuz she doesn’t take anyone’s crap. As long as you’re respectful, you get what you give.

If you’re someone who likes to kiss a$$ or keeps your complaints to yourself, then this is the perfect place to go(if you like crappy quality drinks/food) If not, well then be prepared for the worse service in your life. I was so disappointed, it looked like a really cool place to hang out. Lesson learned, never judge a book by its cover.

I think I enjoy the desserts here more than I enjoy the coffees/beverages here. They have some really sweet, rich decadent brownie selections, their cookies are huge, and they warm them up in the oven and taste amazing! I’ve had the café mocha and a strawberry banana smoothie… they serve their beverages in large styrofoam cups so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Both drinks were decent… slightly more bland than most coffee shops but still good enough to return. This place is always warm, they have tall heaters outside and plenty of outside seating. CASHONLY though! On my last visit, I noticed they have a lot of food on their menu such as sandwiches, salads, wraps etc. Definitely coming back to try their food!

We came here because it was the only place open late at night, the service seemed like I’m getting stuff for free. We had to wait sometime for someone to take our orders and when the lady came she wasn’t welcoming at all. I tried the hot chocolate and it was by far the worst thing I’ve ever tried. Couldn’t drink it and threw it away. A friend told me that his wife was waiting for him there to get a coffee but they told her you either get something or leave.

Service really sucked. The hot chocolate was more like warm chocolate. Acually, it was the Hersheys chocolate syrup you can buy at the grocery store. The $ 5 grilled cheese… could have made a better one at home with more quality products. The attitude from the worker could be shoved up her nose, or other orafice. She couldn’t be more blunt about someone in our party not being a paying customer. So Denny’s serves up better food and coffee than this joint. Just because they’ve got later hours than Starbucks doesn’t mean service with an attitude. If you gotta have a coffee or hot chocolate fix late at night, go for your local McDonalds or Denny’s. This place isn’t worth the attitude and regular cup of Joe. It sucks a** here. Overall satisfaction, way below strongly dissatisfied!

This coffee house has a bit of a janky vibe to it but I like that — it’s casual and not pretentious in any way. Inside there are a number of comfy chairs and sofas and quite a number of rickety patio tables & chairs outside(some under cover and some not). There is parking at the rear of the building with maybe 10 spots(It was mostly all open at noon on a weekday). This place is CASHONLY but there is an ATM inside as well as a Union Bank a couple doors down. Customers seemed to be a mix of Fullerton students and old guys like me. I ordered an iced mocha and a blueberry muffin. I sat outside and waited for someone I had an appointment with. It’s a great spot for people watching and listening to the classic rock that plays over their sound system. The muffin was moist and good but nothing incredible. Same could be said of the iced mocha which was presented in a styrofoam cup. I’d return mostly because I like the atmosphere; it’s probably the only coffee joint I can sit and enjoy a cup o’ joe and listen to The Who’s Baba O’Riley.

This place looks really cool. It’s comfortable and you could spend some serious time relaxing here, but this is a coffee shop and their coffee is horrible. I stopped here for 100% convenience the other day as I was meeting somebody across the street in less than 30 minutes, it’s not worth the convenience.

The lady is such a sweetheart!!! She recognizes me, and I feel loved! Such a chill and cute place to hang out. A spacious place. Parking is good: in the back, on the street, and at the bank parking. Drinks and food are delicious. Closes real late so it’s nice. *YOUMUST order something. I mean come on she lets you chill the whole time! *CASH only Try this place out if you are in town.

It’s kind of funny when they have«coffeehouse» In the name but the coffee is really not good. A points I want to mention: The service isn’t the best, the lady working the counter was rude and didn’t look like she wanted to work there. It was not until my friend said a joke about the name and the Die Hard movies that she chuckled a little and was sort of nice. The charge for wifi~ enough said I don’t usually order a regular cup of Joe, but I can for sure say that the barista skills are not here. I remember when I worked this one place that used cheap coffee beans but the difference here is that the proportions are bad and they can’t really use the espresso machine. The breakfast burrito was freshly made which is cool but it’s not really that great if you’re into breakfast burritos. If you’re into coffee though, this place is definitely not it.

While I had been here a few times throughout my college years, I never full took advantage of McClain’s late hours and relaxing atmosphere. With a number of coffees, espresso drinks, and baked goods, you can find McClain’s to be a great place to study or meet a friend for a fairly inexpensive price. While there is another option down the road, consider these factors. The place down the road is very busy and loud on most Thursday-Saturday nights, and is much smaller. McClain’s is traditionally older and full of more students relaxed on couches, or having a cigarette outside. It’s an old and very nice little house with parking in back. Street parking is also available for two hours during the day, and for free at night. It’s a pretty sweet deal if you need somewhere to go meet your friends or get some work done. No wonder the folks from friends would always meet at a coffee house. I’ve sampled only a few items on their menu, as I’ve come here wanting to usually get personal work out of the way. Their coffee is a normal cup of joe, as are their poppy-seed muffins. I wasn’t wow’d by anything other than their chocolate-chip cookie, which had nuts in it. It’s was quite good when warmed up. The part of this place is their friendly owner, who is very chill and runs this place. While some expect service at their table, you should not expect that here. Be prepared to wait, carry a conversation, and engage a friendly crowd. It’s a community gathering place, and the owner makes it feel so. It’s a place that has seen a lot of people and gone through some weathering on couches, tables and the cabinets. If you don’t mind it, check it out with folks who don’t care for fancy. So far, I find it to be a great place where I can go to be up till 3 – 4 in the morning and find solace from daily life. I hope you can find that bit of joy in McClain’s as well.
