My girlfriend wanted Ihop which i hate so i convinced her to let me take her to a breakfast place with good reviews. We stopped in for Breakfast on the way out of Anaheim since it had such great comments and boy are we glad we did!
We both got breakfast, I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast and everything was perfectly cooked.
My partner had chocolate chip pancakes, eggs and bacon which she loved. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the bacon perfectly crisp. Everything was so cheap also which is a huge bonus!!!
The staff were so polite and welcoming, a smile on everyone’s face. They were quick to serve us, fast at cleaning tables and very attentive to detail.
The only reason we didn’t give it five stars and we both ordered burgers to go and they were a little bit average. I had the chili cheese burger which was a little bland and my girlfriend had the ABC burger. We both found the patties to be a little under seasoned but they were still a great price and very filling!
We will 100% be back when we are in Anahiem next.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Fast, casual, delicious, clean, friendly staff. Their zucchini fries are great. They’re thin so they’re not soggy. Burgers are filling. I would prefer not to have a well-​done burger but it was still tasty.

My boyfriend told me about this neighborhood breakfast place, and insisted I check it out. I had a late morning work shift, so I grabbed him and we went on a Monday morning.
It’s pretty «hidden» in a corner spot, of the Target shopping center, near Don Jose’s. The place is larger inside than you’d assume, and has outdoor patio seating as well (although traffic noise may be an issue).
Once we entered, we were greeted warmly by two cashiers, working the counter. The menu can appear intimidating at first, but is organized well, and I learned they serve lunch too (maybe even dinner, as I blanked on their closing hours).
I decided on the veggie omelet and was happy egg-​whites were an option (I had asked). It comes with hash browns, toast of your choice, and avocado slices. I didn’t end up eating those, since I’m managing my calorie intake (but took them as leftovers, for a lady staying with me). I likely could have asked for fruit, but spaced on that.
The restaurant was clean, decorated nicely, and grew more crowded as time went on. They had a big screen tv and I saw high chairs stacked to the end, showing they’re kid friendly.
The omelet was delicious. Mine came with mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions, plus swiss cheese. It was served hot and one lady came by quickly, to ask how everything was and to refill my coffee. I was taking pictures, like a typical Unilocaler, and they brought me a brochure to see their menu items better.
I will easily be back again, soon, and would recommend this place to others.

Lived in the area for ten years and we decided to drop in. Wow, are we glad we did. The staff was outstanding very helpful with answering questions and just all-​around cheerful. I ordered French toast with two eggs and bacon and they were just perfect. It was like eating at your grandma’s kitchen table. The food was great and didn’t take long for service even though there was lots of people waiting to get their food either to go or dine in. I will be using them for lunch sometimes and we will definitely return for breakfast. Parking is good, prices are fair.

This is an update: I don’t care when you come here it’s always great! The food seems to get better and the staff remains cheerful and helpful and you’re always greeted with smiles.

I was so excited to try this place because it’s so close to home and it’s always popping up on my Unilocal page so I knew I needed to try it. This place is in the Target parking lot and across the street from Twin Dragon and Taco Bell. I came around 11am and this place was poppin! There were hardly any tables inside and there were maybe 2 small tables out on the patio. There was also a little line but that didn’t slow any of the workers down. The girl taking orders was so quick and we got helped probably less than 5 minutes from when we walked in. The prices are awesome too, totally reasonable and the amount of food you get is pretty good. I didn’t leave here with a food coma status, where I kind of regretted my life decisions but instead left happy and content. We ate here But you can also take it to go OR call in your order and pick it up which is pretty awesome too. Our food came out in about 10 minutes which is awesome considering how many people were there. Our food was hot and delicious! Oh and You get refills on your drinks. I also like this place because it’s one of the few places that actually serves breakfast past 11am. But sadly they’re only open until 3! Anyways, I’ll totally be coming back here because the food was yummy and the people there were so friendly and awesome.

Omelet were not cooked all the way, hash brown were under cooked also. Very unhappy. Service was alright.

I had a bad experience this 3^rd time I tried out Shortyz. I’m hoping my next visit they change my opinion. Though we did complain and the manager Chris assured us he would replace our order next time we come. Which was greatly appreciated. I felt I still needed to write this review after I attempted to eat the omlete only to find they hadn’t cooked it all the way. I took a bite of partially raw eggs, disgusting.
It was a simple order of the Denver omlete with no bell peppers & grilled onions, side of sausage & bacon extra crispy. Not only did I find bell peppers in my omlete, the onions were under cooked & not grilled, also in the middle it was not cooked. Hash browns were included with the omlete, they were also under cooked with a couple cooked brown spots. The sides of meat were not cooked crispy let alone extra crispy. Had to re-​cook they to make them crispy at home. Completely defeating the purpose of buying prepared food.
When I called to complain the young lady that answered was overly assertive & cut me off multiple times. Though she meant well and was nice, she needs customer service training. She actually talked over me until I gave up, to tell me my complaint was not valid about the meat. All because she claims she saw the meat come out and it was definitely crispy. Maybe she saw a different order or needs her eyes checked. She also told me that the steam and condensation from the meat in the take out container was what made the meat seemed under cooked. I explained that the fat on the bacon before re-​cooking was wiggly and cleary not cooked to crispiness. Steam cannot uncook bacon.
We will try them one more time, but only because Chris the Manger offered to make it right. Plus he said he would have a talk with the young lady about her customer service skills.

Really good breakfast and burgers! I was extremely skeptical when we walked up because the outside looks a lil sketch lol it looks like small lil donut looking place but when you walk in, it’s totally different and a fair size. They also have covered patio seating which was nice! The staff was really friendly, the food came out quick & hot & they gave huge portions. The burgers were really good! They give it to you on a plate with a load of fries! Lol
I would recommend it if you’re in the area! It’s a nice quick place to eat & not too expensive either.

An excellent «mom & pop» type establishment, where they genuinely care about quality and service. I’ve had breakfast and their burgers here, and I have never been disappointed. Their prices are good as well. If I ever tire of the fast food jungle, and want some home cooking, then I come here. It’s a valid alternative to my mom’s cooking.
Keep in mind that they are usually only open to 3pm. So, this place is (sadly) only an option for breakfast and lunch. Other than that, there are no negatives to this place. Great food at reasonable prices, served by workers who genuinely care about their work.

This isn’t anyplace out of the ordinary but the food is good, the service is fast, and the people are very friendly!
I had the spinach and feta breakfast burrito (add sausage). It was really good! I went easy on the hash because I’m not a huge potato fan. They bring it out to you with a side of Pico de Gallo that was really tasty.
All in all, a good hole in the wall place to grab a good morning breakfast.

really great find near csuf! what i love about this place is that it is open early!!! 7am!!! i came across this place after i have an exam friday morning and after i needed to kill time and eat some food! Unilocal brought this place to my attention and it was so convenient. they have a large selection of food to choose from (think breakfast and lunch). it is real traditional american food with fresh and tasty ingredients. i ordered the ¹⁄₃ lb burger and fries and it filled me up! very tasty. not to mention the service inside was very friendly and the inside was clean! love this place and would most definitely return to try any of their other selections. so sad i found out about this place near the time I’m about to graduate :(

Really good chili fries and decent Gyro. Lately they have done away with a daily special which was kinda cool.
Buddies have tried some of the Mexican food /​burritos and they approve! Those are next on my to-​eat list.
Spot used to be called the Golden Ox. This one has stuck so far.

I’m a fan of this place! Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly and the food is delicious! They’re really more a brunch place. They open early and close at around 3PM. My boyfriend and I come here when I’m craving a sit down breakfast. I love their breakfast burritos and their other breakfast dishes are great. My boyfriend loves the french toast here too.
Wide variety of burgers and breakfast items. Will be back to try the other foods.

Simple and delicious breakfast food at a very fair price.
I’ve ordered to-​go from shorty’z at least a dozen times, and the bill was always under 20 bucks. My favorites are the corned beef hash, and country fried steak. Portions are big, and quality and taste are always consistent.
They don’t have much variety (e.g. pancake variations include plain and chocolate chip) but whatever you order will most likely be delicious!

This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. I had never been here before and was a little apprehensive when we came because it’s attached to a boarded up building that looks kinda shady and the restaurant itself doesn’t look like much from the outside. Inside it was really clean and the staff was very friendly.
They serve mostly breakfast and lunch items, but the menu offers a good variety of things to choose from. My group ordered all different things and no one was disappointed. I got the three meat breakfast burrito with bacon, ham, chorizo, egg, and potatoes. I think if I go back I’ll just get the chorizo because it was so good.
The drinks are self serve, but one of the employees goes around while you’re eating and offers to give you refills or to see if you need anything which is convenient and I was not expecting. The restaurant is very comfortable and somewhere where you can sit for a while and chat. Nicer than a greasy spoon but not a full blown diner.

Every time I come in I’m always greeted by extremely friendly staff.
I really like the breakfast here, they have many classics like the Denver Omelette and even burgers. I really like getting the breakfast burritos here because they are so good!!! They even give you some AMAZING salsa on the side which takes the food to a higher level. I have not tried salsa this good before.
Kind of a whole in the wall since it’s not the easiest to see if you are just driving by, but it’s one of my favorite hole in the wall breakfast joints. I would definitely keep eating here and recommending when I am in the area.

A friend and I wanted to grab a quick and good breakfast somewhere in the area. Looking on Unilocal was a great idea and figure out the best places for pancakes since that’s what my friend was craving.
We found this place and oh my, it’s really cheap. I mean I’m used to $ 10+ dishes in SF for brunch and never blinked, but this place, a pancake combo with 2 pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage was about $ 6. How is that even possible? Apparently it is. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes — so good. I don’t have pancakes often, but oh so good to have them once in a while.
For the price, it’s a great amount of food and pretty decent food.
Pro tip: breakfast is the most important meal of the day and pretty cheap here.

I got the Chorizo Burrito. This was a bit disappointing. Not a lot of chorizo which attributed to the lack of flavor in this burrito. Pass on this one.
Wifey got the Veggie Omelette. This was super good. Very tasty and a nice sized omelette. Mushroom, green & red peppers and onions were magic on this dish. This dish came with hash brown and 4 slices of wheat bread. Yum yum, Get this one.
Shoty’z special — Pancake, bacon and egg. The pancake was good!!. Bacon was crispy and the egg was just okay. A very reasonably prized special. My son enjoyed this one! Yum!
Service was fast and efficient.
Price was reasonable.

Surprise breakfast are always appreciated in this household. Shorty’z had some hits and some misses for us, but it’s worth a try for sure. Give them a try and decide for yourself.
