I expected a wonderful experience as the interior of the restaurant is cozy and I’d heard good reviews about this restaurant. We were the only patron’s! No one came in for dinner the whole time we were there. I asked the server if this was normal and she said the restaurant has a following on the weekends. Our meal was fair. The bread was just white bread… in fact it was stale. I felt the sauce for my linguine came out of a jar. The House Wine was warm and was a bit off. I will not patronize a restaurant that can’t get it right. We spent the whole time wondering how they stay in business.

I went here for the first time on a Saturday night and my overall experience disappointing. The place was empty so we were seated quickly outside. I immediately noticed the tacky checkered plastic table cloths. For a place that is claiming to be a wine bar they really need to invest in cloth. I ordered the chicken parm. and it tasted like it was fried in old oil. It tasted very fishy. The bread was good, but was served with just olive oil. A little garlic in there would have made a huge difference. The salad was simple consisting of just lettuce and dressing. I could tell the dressing was homemade and was pretty good. To finnish it off I had a glass of house wine and was disappointed that it was $ 8 for house wine! Overall sub par, and too expensive for what you get and for being basically in the parking lot of a strip mall.

I’ve been here a number of times over the past couple of years and I keep coming back because I’m rarely disappointed. The food is always good, except for the steaks. I’ve only ordered a steak here twice and both times I was very disappointed with the tough gristly chunk of meat they served me. So now I just don’t order steaks — I usually order veal instead and I’m always happy. They have a decent wine list, but they don’t always have everything that’s on it. Not really a big deal because I can always find something I like. If only there was a way to get here without having to see that Flying Biscuit abomination right next door.

Upon visiting this restaurant for the first time a few nights ago, we walked into a cozy, well decorated space that was completely devoid of any other diners. Since we were the only patrons the majority of the time, we received excellent service from our friendly waitress. The bread was good, but I agree with the other reviewer on the salad they automatically bring out… it’s basically greens with a balsamic dressing, no other veggies and no choice of dressing. Our group had lobster ravioli, seafood pasta, lasagna, and the meat pizza. The ravioli was decent but not the best I ever had, and my fiancé said the pizza wasn’t anything special. They had a pretty extensive wine list and the prices of the entrees were very reasonable. We stayed to chat after paying our check, and while I didn’t feel bad since we were the only ones there, it was kind of odd. I don’t know if it was just a coincidence, but after we lingered a bit they turned on the bright lights almost like a last call, get out of here thing. For this price range Italian, I still prefer Napolatano’s or Frescos.

The Gnocchi al Forno is the best gnocchi dish in Gatortown. It melts in your mouth! The service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend this place for lunch during the week, as the prices are even more reasonable and the portions are plentiful. I especially enjoyed the Panino alla Caprese… it was huge and yummy!

I hope my next trip, if I make it, is better than the first. In these economic times, I can not make multiple trips hoping a restaurant will be better on the second or third try. The good news: Allesandro’s is very attractive and tastefully decorated with soft, mellow light shades bearing their logo. The waiter was well informed about the menu and very pleasant. The bread was warm. My main dish, Pollo Rosamarino, was tasty. The rest of the story: No side of pasta served or offered. The olive oil for dipping bread was as bland as tap water with no spicing. My main dish, while tasty, consisted of pounded chicken breasts, with faint sprinkling of chopped rosemary served over riced potatoes said to be mashed. The portions were small. The mashed potato serving was about a ½ to ¾ cups. There was no color on the plate except a scant sprinkling of rosemary. White meat, on a white plate, with white potatoes. It was the most unimaginative way to serve the dish that I could possibly imagine. The salad that came with the meal was served without any choice for salad dressing. The dressing served was a mediocre balsamic dressing of no significant merit. Maybe a restaurant of this stature should offer several home-made dressings. We were offered no choices balsamic dressing was all that was served. In such an elegant surrounding, I expect something that is more than border-line bland, poorly presented, and of modest taste. I expect something more than an average salad and, lastly, turn the music down! I will not be back even though the restaurant has its good points.
