I can’t believe she doesn’t have better reviews. I have moved from Gainesville but miss her tailoring!!! She might not have the best client interaction but I really don’t care as much as I care about her quality of work. I wouldn’t say she’s rude or snooty, she just isn’t into small talk. I have gotten 20+ pieces of jeans, pants, dresses hemmed by her, and trusted her with an off the rack bridal gown that she made into an amazing gown that I was happy to wear on my wedding day. At the end of the day, she’s AMAZING at what she does, and I only wish I can find another tailor like her where I live.

A great designer and very thoughtful tailor! Always very satisfied with Ms. Brooks work! She is always very kind and thoughtful. I hate the negative reviews below on Unilocal by people who obviously are either impossible to please or mistake being reserved and thoughtful as rude or something else. Ms. Brooks works very hard to make her customers look great with a great fit! I wish we could clone her!!! You are not super busy in this town if you are not super adept at what you do!

I took my wedding dress and reception dress to Jacquelyn for alterations. My wedding dress was Justin Alexander #8640 which, if you look up pictures, has TONS of layers of organza. The dress was very expensive and I was hesitant to let anyone touch it. But I knew it had to be done. Let me just say– Jacquelyn did a fantastic job! She was able to hem the skirt and take the bodice in without compromising the integrity of the dress. The bustle was also beautiful. I would have never known anyone touched it! she also sewed in a bra. The dress fit like a glove for my big day. She also did a great job on my reception dress. I just had her re-sew the seams on the bust to make them flat– and that she did! You can trust Jac to do a great job on any article you bring her! She is truly talented! Side note: After reading the other reviews, I feel like I have to comment on her attitude. She is not the most outgoing person in the world, but she is also NOT rude, snotty, or any of the negative things others are complaining about. At the end of the day you are taking your clothing there to get altered, not for a social event. She’s professional, and great at her job– and that is all that should matter.

I took a custom-made wedding gown, ordered from Etsy, to Jacquelyn for alterations. She did a beautiful job taking the dress in and was quick to offer to replace the zipper when I tried the dress on and she noticed it was separating from the fabric. She’s not the chattiest person in the world, which some people might mistake for her being rude; but I found her incredibly easy to work with and more than proficient at what she does. I would definitely trust Jacquelyn with future jobs, and I highly recommend her for important pieces.

Alterations were fine and done in a timely manner, but I would never go back after the attitude the owner had. She was EXTREMELY unfriendly, responded with one word answers, didn’t smile once, and just seemed put out by me being in there. She made me feel very uncomfortable and has no social skills whatsoever, which I think is mandatory to be a successful business owner. Avoid unless you enjoy awkward silences and judgmental snark.

I agree with Ping’s review. I do like the way she altered my dress, but the owner was pretty snotty and rude. I didn’t come back and took other clothes that needed to be altered elsewhere.

Came here on the recommendation of the guy working at Banana Republic to get some mens’ shirt altered. The owner/designer has major attitude bordering on disdain for us even though we look like young decent professionals. Maybe because we are not her targeted clientele, which seems to be sorority girls and upper society ladies from Haile Plantation Country Club. Price was decent — altering a dress shirt costs $ 25 each and turnover seems to be about 1 week. But we won’t be coming back after picking up the shirts, even if her skills are excellent. I will take my business somewhere else where I am not treated with disdain.
