Horrible service!!! Hopefully these two young girls that are bartenders are in college because they have no customer service skills. Good thing we’re not in town for long.

Great hole in the wall locals kind of place in mid town Gainesville. In the heart of campus so plenty of 20 something coeds. Plenty of TVs for sports watching! Good food too!!!

The service can be a little slow, but the food is amazing. I’ve only had one bad meal there, and it was because the chili was too salty. Some of my favorite picks are: Salmon Club(huge hunk of well-cooked salmon) Argentine Steak Sandwich(if you want to treat yourself, it’s very filling and hearty) Macho Nachos(could be a meal in itself) You get a big helping of fries or sweet potato fries if you choose them as a side. The Gator tacos are good, but the serving is small. I got them to try gator for the first time, but I didn’t find it to be anything special. Might as well have gotten the fish tacos or the chicken tender burger if I wanted to eat something with breading.

Disappointing food at a great location. I was really hoping for a decent sandwich. Ingredients were missing and the sweet potato fries had been hanging around too long

Even though the location is very convenient to UF and we liked the outside«beer garden» atmosphere I was not able to give this a higher rating then 3 stars. The food was pretty bland and the recommended buffalo chicken wrap was drenched with dripping sauce and arrived partially cold and the fries tasted like they were heated in the microwave which explained why the plate was hot We shared the Nacho appetizer and that would have been plenty of food for us two and you can barely ever go wrong with nachos except on these the cheese didn’t have a fresh taste it was very gooey and almost tasted and felt like it was sliced cheese cut in pieces and melted. I’m sure this place is a great hangout and location for students but I will certainly not be back and pricing was rather high for the quality of food So to wrap it up if you want to have a drink or cold beer and just hang out in s beer garden type of setting go for it but food unless you have no expectations I’d say skip it

Right near the stadium, in the mix. Looks like this place pops off but can also be okay for dinner. Typical food out find quesadillas, chicken fingers ect. Good pregame spot in Gainesville — but no means fine dining.

Gainesville always has great food. Anytime we’re in town we try to aim for more local restaurants. We choose to stop by the Swamp Restaurant to give it a try. The menu was cutely designed as well as having a variety of options. The staff was quick and friendly and the food tasted great. The atmosphere had a very gameday feel and the weather outside was great so they opened some bay doors and let the fresh air come in through some screens.

I don’t know why people call the swamp a Gainesville staple… Last time I ate here I got a «bloody mary» and that’s in quotations because it was nothing short of cheap vodka and some boring mix. This time I ordered an Italian panini because I was craving pizza and it was the closest second, and the sandwich was 75% bread. Subway would’ve packed more fillings into a $ 5 foot long. I wouldn’t be so upset if I wasn’t paying $ 12 for this sandwich(or $ 7 into the drink). In my opinion, unless you want to share a pitcher and watch football try to go to another restaurant.

Last call 130am on Saturday night /Halloween, ordered a pitcher, bouncer«get the f*** out» at 1:45am. No acting out by anyone in the bar. I don’t care if you give us zero on Unilocal.Ok! .

Just went to Swamp for a burger and fries. Ordered a species tea and found out it charged $ 7.50! Which is crazy pricey! And they didn’t put a price on the menu ! It is just tea and it tastes awful! I will never never go to Swamp again!

First tried gator here and it was a bit chewy. Not a whole lot of flavor to the whole dish, though I would highly recommend the sweet potato fries. The place was noisy because of music and, though the service was friendly, the environment left much to be desired. Also, far too pricey for the quality of food.

Rowdy frat boy atmosphere. I only had the chips and queso which was okay, the rest of the menu was just quick bar food. Would be fun on game day but def not a place to enjoy a nice quiet dinner. Good service though.

3.5STARS Pretty much a run of the mill bar that does sandwiches, burgers, and basic pub grub food to go with their liquor that they serve. The staff were friendly and not too busy as it seems like most people usually don’t come to these places until college football season and perhaps even college basketball season rolls around. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries and it was pretty decent. I also got sweet tea refills super quick too so kudos to their hard working staff. Not much of a beer selection but I doubt that they will ever have a high demand for craft brew beers in this part of the state. I also saw a framed jersey of current Warrior David Lee from his Florida playing days. Go Warriors! TVs were everywhere but one of them was obviously busted and blurry but they either didn’t notice or care.

Ahh The Swamp. I have spent a lot of time here over the past 14 years. When I was a student at UF, I would frequently lunch at The Swamp. I never really enjoyed the night life here as it was a bit too crazy for my taste, but I have always liked the food and atmosphere especially for a nice lunch and drinks. The service is always good and let’s be honest, this is a Gainesville bucket list spot. As for the food my favorite thing to get is the buffalo tender wrap with fries. The nachos and the sweet potato fries are also noteworthy. The drinks are inexpensive and you have a great view of UF across the street. I am a fan of The Swamp and intend to come here to dine for many years to come on my trips to Gainesville!

I was born and raised in Gville so I’ve been here many times. Honestly, it’s a quick beer grab before the game for me and stops there. They are usually pretty busy and loud so on a nice night I’d sit outside if that’s an option. The food has always been mediocre at best to me. We popped in last night because it was dead(spring break) and wanted to grab a beer before the basketball game(GOGATORS!!!). The entire restaurant inside and out was ½ full, they had plenty of wait staff and bartenders but the service was still ridiculously slow! To the point of we missed tip off trying to pay our bill(which annoyed me quite a bit). Oh and I suggest if you’re going for a quick beer or 2 that you get it by the bottle if you can. If it is the hour of day that you get a glass instead of plastic they never seem to rinse the glasses well so your Stella has a hint of Dawn dish soap taste to it…

A friend recommended that I stop in this Gainesville staple while in town. I went for lunch and was thankful for the recommendation. The salmon club was awesome(although the bacon was a little too cooked for me), and the sweet potato fries hit the spot. Washed it down with a Swamp Head IPA. Would definitely go back if I’m in the area.

I come to Gainesville for work with the university every other year, and the swamp is definitely my preferred lunch spot. I like to go with the specials — yesterday was the Argentinian steak sandwich with a great chimichurri sauce. Always go with the sweet potato fries; theirs seem to complement just about any sandwich. Lunch hour is also rarely overwhelmed so the service is good and the staff are very pleasant.

I come here more for the environment than the food. The quality of food is so-so, though they have a broad selection and variety of drinks from their bar. I’ve been coming here since 2004 and a bunch of pretty faces work here but you can tell customer service is not held up to the highest of standards. It’s as good as you can expect when college students are serving other college students mostly. If you’re looking for a Gainesville staple on your way through town, or a vibrant place before/after a football game, this is your place! They’ve got plenty of TVs, music, and an outdoor patio with some seating. At night certain days of the week it turns into more of a bar environment but by day, it’s a place to which you could take your children. Beware, though, if you have a big stroller or are in a wheelchair, there is no formal ramp up to the restaurant. You have to go up at least a couple stairs. I love eating at The Swamp because it’s decked out in Gator swag and I always feel nostalgic coming back here. It’s also close to other bars and restaurants in Midtown if you wanted to do some hopping.

My favorite place to go when I was attending UF. The swamp hasn’t changed much and why should it, great beer selection, friendly people, and decent food. I ordered the gator tail tacos which were delicious, gator was a little tough but cooked well. I wish I lived closer so I could come more but it’s fantastic too see UF students still flock here on a daily basis. Go gators!

This restaurant is like a landmark in Gainesville or at least for Florida Gator students. Honestly, I do not recommend the food here, but it’s a great place to drink! They have a large outdoor patio area where you can sit and with your food and drinks. It’s a great place to people watch since it’s literally right across the street from the University of Florida and there’s many out-of-town folks floating around. This is the place I first met Tim Tebow! You never know who you will meet at this restaurant! They have a full bar and the menu seems like typical bar food. It’s a great place to watch a football game if you weren’t able to get tickets! It’s also very loud most of the time and gets filled up quick. Service is a bit slow but I don’t blame the servers because it always gets really busy. The Swamp is located in the middle of Midtown next to Copper Monkey, 101 Cantina, Mochi, Pita Pit, and Designer Greens. If you’re from out of town and must check it out, grab a beverage and sit on the patio. There’s plenty of food across the street to choose from if you’re still hungry.
