This bar is at the top of my list for downtown bars, second only to Nelly’s. It’s got that good, local feel to it. I think they’re going for the hole-in-the-wall alternative young crowd hot spot, and it works well for them– no surprise, considering the Maude’s legacy. Decorations are definitely eclectic and adorable. I hear they have shows there, not sure what kind since it is kind of small, but I’ve heard quite a few people mentioning it so they must be popular. Most importantly, the service is top-notch. I have been here a few times now, met a couple of the bartenders, and they are all friendly(!) and willing to cater to their customers(!!!). I will be going back.

we frequent Maude’s for coffee/tea/pastries and people watching. When I noticed they opened a bar next door I thought«that makes sense» Maude’s offered bottled/canned beers anyway… but no place for me to get a cocktail if I wanted that instead of caffeine. The Side Car is a cozy place, its small. Not a place to bring a large group of friends, this is intimate, perfect for a tête-à-tête à-tête. They have beer on draft(first magnitude, Founders, Guinness, etc) they have daily specials on shots and draft beers. Every drink I have had here is delicious and well poured. They do have a menu of cocktails, liquor choices, beer and wine. The décor is funky, eclectic… the seating is comfortable. On Monday nights you will be witness to the Tabernacle of Hedonism(bring tithing money) and I have heard performances by ukuleles and spoken word alike. They do have outdoor porch seating, and you can bring food from Maude’s inside.
