A great location in Gainesville. Coolest looking mellow by far! Food and service always good. Sometimes a little slow getting food out so give yourself time if during peak hours.

This location is my favorite pizza joint in town. I’ve always had great experiences here over the years. Service is always friendly, the menu rocks and the atmosphere is great.

I am a HUGE fan of this Mellow Mushroom! I have gone as a party of 2, 6, 10 and even 18 one time and that was 6 adults and 12 thirteen year old girls(WOWZA). We have had great food and service EVERYTIME we have come. There has never been an issue, the beer is always cold, the pizza is delicious. There is something for everyone. Is there always a wait if you go for dinner Friday or Saturday? Yes, always. so come expecting that but mellow out and have a beer while you wait. Speaking of beer, they have excellent prices and quite a selection. PARMESEANPRETZELSWITHBEERCHEESE– you must order this. They bring it out with the marinara sauce as well and that is good too, but dipping the pretzels in that cheese. OMGYUM! If you have any cheese or marinara sauce left over, keep it to dip your pizza crust in. You’re welcome. So on to the pizzas… Every pizza here is good. We have tried every pizza on their menu including the Cesar Salad pizza LOL… Our favorite is the Holy Shitake — it has aioli sauce and mushrooms. I can just sit and eat this pizza all day long. When we have family/friends from Miami come up, this is one of the places we bring them. Everyone always ends up loving it and asks to come back. For a chain, this location is impressive.

I have had pizza in Naples, Rome, La Maddalena Italy, and different pizzerias on 5 continents. No place compares to the crust that I had at the Mellow Mushroom by far the best crust I have tasted had on a pizza. Service was a little slow for a pretty much empty restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. Sadly I will not be going to the Mellow Mushroom again. I’m active duty Military and only support restaurants that support the Military.

I am a big fan of this chain pizza place, when it comes to their pizza this location doesn’t disappoint. Great customer service and excellent food. Usually, me and my wife go there for lunch and we get their combo #1(it comes with a plain cheese pizza and a lil salad). Slices are huge!!!

This is by far the best Mellow Mushroom ever. You can tell that this owner takes pride in ensuring that their customers have the best experience from the atmosphere to the food. This Mellow is located on historic Green Street walking distance from the Gainesville square. There is an outside patio as well as an upstairs seating for busier times or for private functions. There are a few things that make this Mellow exceptional. First, the bruschetta. The Gainesville Mellow’s toast that the serve with their bruschetta is ten times better than any other Mellow. It’s bigger and the perfect amount of crunchy. Not to mention it’s topped off with an amazingly thick combination of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Secondly, this is the only Mellow that I know of that allows you to order slices for dinner. If I remember correctly the base has to be red sauce, but it still makes it super convenient for groups that can’t decide on one type of pizza. Lastly, they also allow you to order half and half different specialty pizzas — they don’t even have to have the same base. How great is that? Talk about never having to compromise your pizza choices again!

I practically live here! The food is excellent and the service has never been bad. It has a full service bar and outdoor seating. Great for watching a game or bringing the family. Go there! And tell them I sent you ;)

We have a Mellow Mushroom in Lexington, KY and I have been thinking about trying them out for a while. While visiting Gainesville we just ordered couple of mixed pizzas and they were really awesome! Mellowterranean, Thai Dye, Gourmet White, and Holy Shiitake.. wow! Definitely will be back for more. …

My first visit here, but a long time Mellow Mushroom customer. This is the best location as it is in an old Green Street house. The service was print, courteous, and the Calzone was superb. My better half went for the salad and it was fresh an in large portions. Great jobTeam!

Philosopher’s Pie is wonderful. Great Chef Salad. Very loud so not a great place to have a lunch meeting but a fun atmosphere.

I eat here about once every two weeks. This place has an amazing atmosphere, which is half of the appeal. The building was originally something else that was fancier and without destroying the integrity of the building(which is located on historic Green St.) they funked it up with artwork, wild colors and my favorite — glass marbles in the windows. It’s always packed, except for early lunch. Staff is friendly, but sometimes slow — dare I say, mellow? The food is consistently great — my order has never been wrong, it’s usually on time and always hits the spot! I recommend the hummus or pretzels for starters, a build-your-own salad and the calzones!

Food is great but service could use an upgrade in punctuality. Have booked private rooms in the past only to arrive and they are not available due to double booking.

Long waits, slapdash service and a loud, obnoxious atmosphere. These are the things that await you at the Mellow Mushroom. The Mellow Mushroom is a Gainesville tradition, of course. I can remember going to their old location quite frequently as a child, and even holding the high score for quite some time on their Galaga machine. I cherish these memories. It’s just a shame that their modern location holds none of that joy. The first thing you’ll notice, if you’re disabled, is that the handicapped entrance is located between the dumpster and the johns. Right off the bat you’re feeling disappointed in the place and there’s no reason for a business to be laid out in such a way in this day and age. After waiting for what feels like a geologic era for your seat, you’re lead past a winding, tightly packed cluster of tables to your seat. My advice is to immediately order alcohol. You’ll need it for the food to come. Here the Mushroom is helpful in offering you a wide array of the most common beers that you’re sure to find elsewhere, at better restaurants. If you made the mistake of coming with guests, prepare to abandon all hopes of having a conversation as the cramped conditions and loud music make such dreams the foolish delusions of madmen. When your food finally arrives — long after the kingdoms of man have fallen to the sands of time — you should be filled with anticipation. The anticipation of complete and utter failure in the culinary arts. If you order anything more complicated than a pepperoni pie, it’s going to be quite lacking. I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza expecting it to be spicy. However, it was sweet(of all things) and tasted as though it should be a dessert pizza. The chicken was cold and poorly cooked and the overall impression that it left on the pallet was abysmal. I didn’t even bother asking for box. To be fair, the appetizer olive bread I ordered was just fine if you like the taste of a million salt drench olives being thrown at you by a swarm of belligerents. Really, the only saving grace that the food had was the aforementioned beer. It made the experience manageable. When my much too hefty check arrived, I was just pleased to be done with the ordeal. I paid, and tipped, and left; never to return to this abysmal place and never to sully my fond childhood memories of this most dubious of Gainesville traditions. 1⁄5

After traveling all day, and having a craving for some typical college food, we decided to hit up Mellow Mushroom. It was my first time ever in the establishment, but since it was my last night in Georgia, I obviously had to get a sweet tea. They were quick with the drink orders and refills, which was great. I also just had a cheese pizza with green peppers, and it was definitely filling in a way that pizza(besides deep dish) usually isn’t. Coming from Chicago, I found this pizza definitely satisfactory, and although I’m not a pizza snob like a lot of other people in this city, but I found this to be on-par with my expectations. The only thing I’d have to say about the pizza is that they could lay off the parmesan a little bit — it gets a little salty. The service was great, I didn’t feel weird about sitting there in December with just shorts and a sweatshirt on(casual ambiance), but I think you could also get away with going there for a first-dinner-date type thing. Cool place.

We arrived at 12 noon on a Friday and our party of 6 were seating immediately. The place was bustling but it’s so big that they can accommodate us easily. Very cool house. We ordered the parm pretzels and they were awesome. Definitely homemade. We also ordered a house salad to share and it was mediocre. Iceberg lettuce and dressing on the side. We also had the cheese calzone, thai pizza and spinach pesto pizza. Crust was amazing and the toppings were yummy. We had plenty to take home. Service was friendly.

Love the Shroom. This one is one of the more interesting as its run out of a old plantation style house which adds great character. The atmosphere is great and bar service is friendly. We’ve only done take out because we have two little ones and aren’t ready to take on that adventure yet. As soon as we can we will be dining in but for now I’ll enjoy my beer while I wait on my wife’s gluten free pizza.

Straight up I have to give them five stars. We did have and issue, but to their defense it was REALLYLOUD in there. We ordered a House without Peppers and Sausage. What we got were extra peppers. They thought we said pepperoni. The second pizza we received was outstanding and well worth the wait. The pretzels were fantastic. Mellow Mushroom is the only place I will eat pizza anymore. Anytime someone tells me to go anywhere else, the pizzas suck. So I just give up eating pizza anywhere else.

Service at the bar is terrible — you have to flag someone down to get waited on. It helps to be male since most of the bar staff are female. The guy who sat down beside me 10 min after I arrived got waited on and served before me. When I finally got my pizza slice, it was cool and tasted like cardboard. Too hungry to send it back. This used to be one of my favorite places — has really gone downhill.
