This was my first Time here. My husband and I typically eat in but our daughter wasn’t feeling well so we took out. We ordered the phở noodle soup, a bahn mi sliced pork sandwich and an order of the pork spring rolls. The pork sandwich was alright– it lacked meat as others have stated. They could easily get another star if they improved the quality of this sandwich cause it has potential to be very solid. The bread was nice and crusty and just an FYI for those trying this out, it is dry so there is no moist dressing inside. The spring rolls looked sad… They were a lot smaller than other area phở places and the pork inside appeared to be a boiled waterlogged color. Not that appealing. It had no flavor and the peanut sauce to dip in was Totally watery and gross. The phở came with a generous portion of rice noodles. It was tasty. Not the best I’ve had but not the worst.

Honestly, this place probably deserves three stars, but with all of the recent improvements to their menu, I gave four stars because I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the some of the new changes. For starters, the phở is definitely much tastier now. The broth is a lot darker and more flavorful which is a plus since I thought that it used to be more on the bland side. This is great considering it’s around 9 bucks a bowl, and the tastier broth makes it worth it. In addition, they’ve been trying to push their specials which are actually worth a try! Personally, I fell in love with their authentic Vietnamese curry soup! I’ve already ordered it four times now. I can’t get over the creamy taste of the soup, and the spice is enough to give it a good kick without overpowering the dish! The only thing I wish they would improve on is the size of the banh mi because they aren’t too filling, and it’s a little skimpy on the fillings inside the bread.

I can’t believe it. My banh mi actually had Oscar Meyers thin cut HAM in it. One slice of vietnamese cold cut, barely any pâté, I asked for extra veggies… no extra, no jalepeno and it was $ 5.50! Not only a rip off but a fraud!

This Vietnamese restaurant is mediocre, but I often eat phở here because it’s convenient and close to various apartment complexes. There are many choices on the menu including the popular dishes like phở(a Vietnamese noodle soup), Banh mi(a sandwich with cilantro, daikon and your choice of meat) and fried rice. When I dine in, I usually get the phở noodle soup with the beef medium rare(P-6) and usually I like my beef well-done however the beef comes out well done from sitting in the broth! It’s not the best phở that I have ever eaten, but it is a filling meal for $ 8. I have also eaten the Banh mi and have found that it is expensive($ 5) compared to other restaurants but the beef with onions is pretty flavorful. As for the atmosphere — the servers are not too attentive. Last time I went with my boyfriend, we had to seat ourselves because there was only one server at the time and she was taking care of 4 tables along with being a hostess. Also, the A/C in the restaurant is barely ever turned on so it is like a sauna in there. The owner is seen at the restaurant sometimes but does not seem very friendly either. Overall — I eat here because it’s convenient but it is definitely not one of my top Vietnamese restaurants.

Excellent food. Wait staff was great. Would definitely recommend this place. I had the phở. Very flavorful. I disagree with the negative reviews.

I decided to try Phở Hanoi despite hearing many negative comments about the food among the UF Asian community. We went in the afternoon and the restaurant had a fair amount of customers which was a good sign(~4 tables other than us). The server was also really inviting and friendly which was another plus. For the food, I ordered number 3(grilled pork, shredded pork, steamed pâté) and my dining partner ordered a phở. The phở was the better part of the meal. However, it was only«okay». It wasn’t really anything to write home about and I did not get that super savory broth taste. The rice plate was really disappointing. While the price was cheap, there was barely any grilled pork. The pâté and shredded pork was also bland. On top of that, everything on the rice plate was no longer warm. Food was subpar but the price is decent. Come here not for authentic Vietnamese food but for a cheap filler.

It’s lunch time, Phở Hanoi is the destination of choice today. A Vietnamese restaurant on 34th street in the International Plaza. We were seated in their dining area in a booth. Looking over the menu, there was an array of options to choose from. Phở, curries, dumplings, almost any Vietnamese food you could want. It had been a while since I had a good bahn mi, so I set my sights on the unique sandwich. There were multiple options available, but I chose the grilled chicken, and the BBQ pork. They arrived quickly, but my wife’s meal was not delivered with mine, so I waited. Both bahn mi’s were on a french baguette, topped with sliced cucumber, nicely pickled carrots, cilantro, and jalapeños were the standard toppings. The chicken was dark meat, and still juicy. The BBQ pork was sliced thin, but didn’t have much smoke to it. Unfortunately, though tasty, the portions were slight. A small handful of carrot, one slice of cucumber, and one jalapeño. After my two sandwiches I was still hungry. During my experience at Phở Hanoi I recieved OK service, and tasty food, but small portions. It was good, not great.

I used to really like this place, but it has changed for the worst. Horrible attitude and service my last two visits. First visit: I took one of my best friends who had never tried Vietnamese food and I promised this place was the best. Well… that was a mistake. Not knowing much about Vietnamese food, he asked: «So, what is your best plate, your specialty, because I am a rookie and want try your best». The server responded in the most condescending way she could muster: «A’haaa, the name is Phở Hanoi… I guess Phở». And she was not kidding or being funny about it. If that ain’t the rudest answer for someone who is going out on a limb to try something new in YOUR establishment, I don’t know what is. The Phở, which is supposed to be their specialty, is also tasteless. Now, I am not Vietnamese, but I do love Vietnamese food… and I know what a good bowl of Phở is supposed to look like. The second visit: When we walked in, the restaurant was empty, there was only one table with people dining. The guys at the front door looked at us like we were bothering him. That attitude remained with him and his other buddy(another server) throughout our stay. He kept going back to his dinner(he was eating when we got there) and giving us dirty looks because he had to leave his dinner to serve us. I was thinking«if there is two of you clowns, why can’t one serve us while the other has dinner?» No, that would make too much sense. Instead they gave us the evil Vietnamese eye all night long. And let me tell you, there is nothing worse than being served by an ill-mannered pubescent server who thinks he is doing you a favor. As an alternative, I highly recommend the restaurant Taste on 39 Avenue instead of this place. Phở Hanoi has entered a downward spiral in both attitude and food quality.

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. The crispy noodles and special noodle soup with rice noodles are the best. Good customer service though sometimes the servers have seemed a bit spacey and great place for takeout.

Everyone has a different taste for phở. The portion is decent, but I personally didn’t find the broth as flavorful as I wanted it to be. Some of my Vietnamese friends said it’s the best in town(compared to Bagels and Noodles, before Faith/Titi’s/Taste on Archer opened up), but that’s their opinion. The banh mi was a small portion in my opinion. Still filling, but don’t expect to be stuffed. I think the best dishes are the fried rice dishes. Definitely worth the value! When I bought the fresh coconut to drink, they were kind enough to hack open my coconut in the kitchen because I wanted the coconut meat. Bonus points for the gesture and for having coconuts to drink out of.

Phở Hanoi has really improved from the past few years I’ve been in Gainesville. I was a little skeptical about going because of the things I’ve heard from friends about their health regulations and food nightmare stories but ever since its been remodeled and under new ownership, all the negative comments had stopped. One of the first and regular dishes I get is their combination fried rice. I really like how it has seafood and beef in it and how the rice is seasoned well with the perfect balance of sesame, garlic, and salt. It’s the perfect food to eat there or on the go and the portion is so big that it could last for a second meal later in the day. Recently, I tried the bird’s nest with beef and rice with grilled pork entrees. The bird’s nest was kind of disappointing because o the lack of sauce in which left the noodles to be dry and too crunch and the topping of the dish was filled with a good amount of vegetables and meat. The rice dish was a little smaller than what I’m used to at Vietnamese restaurants but the presentation was nice and the meat was had a nice grilled, smoky flavor with no burnt pieces and still tender. Overall, the food wasn’t too impressive but it does the job when you’re in the mood for Vietnamese food. The servers are really nice and the appearance of the restaurant looked clean overall.

The service here is good. The food here is subpar(I probably have really high expectations given the fact that I am part Vietnamese and enjoyed home cooked Vietnamese food as a child). The food lacks flavor. The presentation of the food doesn’t appeal to me, but if you wanted an authentic, subpar Vietnamese food fix, I would go here.

Worst vietnamese restaurant ever. The meat in the Phở noodle soup is so fatty and basil leaves were all rotten. I asked the server to bring fresh leaves and he brought another rotten leaves. Disgusting.

I think their Phở soup is absolutely amazing! It really noticeable that they make the real deal! I come back every time for this soup, but I tried their pork sandwich was very dry and unfavorable so I had to return it :(They were super nice to me even when I said I didn’t like the sandwich. Over I give them 5 stars because they are the best in Gainesville!

I’m 100% Vietnamese and this place is beyond terrible. The space and decoration look nice but when it’s came to the food(sooo badd). I think they need a new chef. We were craving for some VNmese food. So, we gave them a try, we ordered Spring Roll(goi cuon), the dipping sauce taste like nothing and a bowl of Special Phở tase like noodle with water and few slices of meat. Nothing is flavorful, taste bland. I’m truly reccomend you NOT to try this place. Save your money to Subway or McDonalds salad.

Really disappointing experience. The food was ok, but the waitress Née was acting like she just went througj a divorce or something. She threw things onto the table and did not even smile for once. ALL we got were frowns and drooping lips. The waiter at the counter claimed that we had caused them inconvenience because we joined our friends’ table after they have sit down – which was something you would expect to happen at a restaurant. Hopefully this dreadful place could attract more customers by giving shitted looks to people.

This is a great restaurant. I’ve been here quite a few times, and I always get the phở. I see that some of the reviews say it’s not«authentic», but who cares? It’s delicious, especially if you go and get the phở in the winter! The warm tasty broth and noodles will leave you with the satisfying feeling you get after a great meal. If you are more adventurous like me, you can add Sriracha and Hoisin Sauce they provide at all the tables in your phở. Even with tears welling up in my eyes from the spicy and hot meal, I continue to devour it because it’s just that good! Today I actually ordered something different for once, which was the rice vermicelli with grilled chicken. There was lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, and a light savory sauce, which went very well with the dish. It was fresh and delicious, and the perfect amount of food. I was very happy with what I ordered and of course I will be coming back. :)
