I have been here a number of times now and it has never been a bad choice. It’s just typical Thai food, but it’s very good non the less. I usually get the Pad Thai but I’ve tried a few other dishes and they’ve all been good. The service is good, very attentive and happy to accommodate you.

What a surprise! Thom Kah Gai soup and panang curry. The soup was wonderful but the curry… beautifully presented with a little cabbage salad as the backdrop for a lovely orchid. It was the star of my dinner. The chicken in the curry was so tender and not overly cooked. The cabbage added a bit of crunch that was very pleasant. The salad was fresh and the dressing was not sweet like most Thai dressings can be. Everything was so good that I ordered hubby some Pad Thai. The service was friendly and done at a pace that I enjoy. Watch out Chuey’s. I may have found another favorite spot in Gainesville!

Very good. Had the mixed vegetables with chicken lunch. Very hearty portion and the food was fresh and veggies crisp. Good prices. I’d definitely return.

A last minute decision to order from Rice Thai last night was worth it. I placed an order for beef pad Thai, which has been my go to with them twice now. Both times the noodles were well cooked and the beef was tender with the buttery melt in your mouth consistency that you want but don’t often receive from beef in pad Thai. The take out service was quick and only took 15 minutes.

When this place first opened up there were a fair amount of mixed reviews from my friends. But finally I decided to try it for myself. I got the Chicken Pad Thai and I have to say, I found it very good. The portion size was good for the price I paid, the seasoning was flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the noodles were not overcooked. I only wish they had more seating because the place is small and can get quite cramped if a large group comes in. But all in all, I will be back to try more stuff next time :)

Wonderful service, food and presentation. Lots of interesting restaurants in this strip. Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and an Indian grocery. I am looking forward to trying them all and you should too. Unless of course you demand an unreasonable amount of attention, need to change the entire menu around and/or are committed to some dumb diet trend disguised as a make believe allergy. In this case, stick with the cardboard food that the corporate chains dish out all along Archer Road.

Hot is super hot here especially the green curry. If hot hot isn’t your thing order mild. Beautiful updated interior since my last visit. Delightful and beautifully plated entrees give the occasion a memorable experience. Great for a «spicy» date. Or cultured friends.

Thai place like any other. Lunch special for $ 12 has a meat, pad thai, rice and a soup. Nice atmosphere, good waitstaff, food arrives in a timely manner. No complaints.

Had the pad Thai and it was AMAZING! Chicken was a little scarce in quantity, but it was so delicious! Lunch menu came with many options and sides and was very very affordable. The portion was very big! I enjoyed it a lot. I got take out and my order took about 8 minutes from the moment I walked in the door until I walked out. It was great! Awesome service, location and environment. 10⁄10!

This place has it all, great service, beautiful presentation and delicious food. Serving portions are huge and give you plenty to have for later:) I have eaten the Panang curry and and Pad Thai noodles here. Everything I have eaten here has tasted fresh and met expectations. If you are looking for good Thai, this is the place to go

I simply love this place. The food is excellent and clean, period. Price is a bit higher than other thai places I have been to though.

Rice Thai has a very charming ambiance and is located on SW34th Street next door to the Indian Bazaar(which subsequently is a very clean, neat, and vegetarian-friendly grocery store) and in the shopping plaza next to the Good Will. I haven’t been here in about 2 years but it looks even more fabulous now. I love the fuchsia orchids on the table; it reminds me of Mr. Han’s and is a great place for a romantic date or intimate convo with your foodie-in-crime. If you’re coming for lunch, get there before 2:15. The King of the sea is a Tom Kha soup with mussels, clams, squid and scallops. We shared a bowl which was the perfect, delicious amount. We both could have killed our own but sharing is caring as they say; plus it saves room to try other stuff. #Familystyle is the only way to eat. Our favorite salads are the Papaya Pok Pok — ermahgerd delicious — and the Smiling Tiger. The beef normally comes well-done, but if you’re adventurous, get it medium rare — it’s a grand difference. These are both light, not spicy and scrumptious as is… If you like it spicy, be sure to ask for their chopped chili peppers in fish sauce which is perfect for people like me who sometimes like it hot but don’t want to burn their organs. And also request the dry Thai chili flakes if you love and need the extra heat. Not pictured, but according to my trusted sidekick, they have the best Pad Thai in all of #gainesvillefl. And she makes a pretty tasty pad thai! For me, the test of a good pad thai is how it taste the next day; unfortunately, I didn’t have left over. o. O We didn’t care for the Green Curry(also not pictured) only because it was barely mild and not as thick or creamy as we like it. I’m sure if you don’t like spicy, you’ll find it enjoyable. The lunch comes with some mushroom/tofu in a clear broth(not memorable but not bad; the temperature could have been hotter). It also comes with both white rice and a side of pad Thai. If this is your first time, I would save your money by not trying the fried calamari. We didn’t get it but we both didn’t have fond memories of that one. There was only one server when went for lunch but he was awesome, accommodating, efficient and a Southern Gentleman; ask for Jonathan!

The food is really great and they try hard but it’s super disorganized honestly. They need more people working the front.

This place has a really awesome lunch special that I never knew about before. Make sure to stop by! Service: 5⁄5 Attentive, courteous, and very helpful. They check up on you often enough where if you need something you don’t have to flag them down to tell them. I feel like I sometimes need so many things that it was nice to just tell him what I needed when I remembered. Food: 4.5÷5 So the lunch special(if you order L1-L7 on the menu comes with cucumber soup, pad Thai, and your entrée. When I saw that it came with pad Thai I was surprised in a very good way. If you’re the type of person who can never choose between getting curry or pad Thai, then this is such an awesome option for you! The cucumber soup was interesting. Hot when it arrives with a clear broth, small pieces of cucumber and tofu with scallions. The taste is refreshing but a little weird(hence the 0.5 taken off my score). I opted for the panang curry($ 9.95) and it was delicious. Comes with bell peppers, carrots, choice of meat(I got chicken) and it was amazing. The pad Thai was already perfect. Price: 4⁄5 like I said, the price is great for what you get. Come for lunch! Also, on certain days they do «customer appreciation» where it’s 10% off if you pay with cash!

Love the Pad Thai with tofu! My friend had the same with chicken and loved it too! Good quantity and affordable as well. I like spicy food and spice level 5 was just perfect for me, Thai sweet tea was good too. will come again for sure!

I stumbled across this place when my family came to Gainesville to celebrate my birthday. We looked for a Thai place and thank goodness picked this one! The ambience in Rice Thai is the calmest, most relaxing one I’ve found in a Gainesville restaurant. The curry is the best I’ve tasted in Gainesville, and I LOVE their cucumber soup. Each time I’ve been there for dinner I have been lucky to be there when business is slow. The chef always comes out to ask us how our meal was! I LOVE that! Every time I go to Rice Thai it’s a great experience. My husband and I are going again tonight. Can’t wait.

I’m glad that I randomly found this place and decided to give it a try! I’ve been dying for good curry since coming back from my 2 month trip in Japan and I’m glad that this place is in Gainesville. Yes, Japan’s curry is different, but it’s because of wanting that I was able to find this place! The atmosphere is very calming with a dim lighting. It’s not really place for kids if they’re loud and running around, but you can bring them. They do offer take-out if you’d like. I’ve had all of their curries and I am an absolute fan of theirs. Each different curry has it’s own appeal and I would suggest trying them all, depending on your mood. I personally the curry with tameric in it because of it was sweetness but a very rich bold flavor to it! Only thing that I wish they had was another level of spiciness because I love spicy food and I ordered their hottest setting and it only gives me a small burn; I was expecting a higher spicy setting from a Thai perspective. For drinks, they have a thai tea that’s really sweet and delicious. I wish they had free refills on it but then I’d run them dry! They also have a green tea with brown rich that has a good deep taste with a little earthy tones that I love. I haven’t tried their other teas but it’s hard to resist changing from this hot tea, For service, I think it’s hit or miss. At times, I’ve had a waiter who was very attentive, despite it being busy, and ensured that my family and I were happy with our meal. On the other hand, we can get average service where the server will come twice: once for the order and a second time with the meal. I had to find him to get the check! However, their service is usually good and I’ve never had this woman that seems to be plaguing in the older reviews. I’m assuming that she’s gone? I give this place 4 stars because I love their food, the drinks and the environment. The service bumps it down a bit, but that can be overlook a bit for such remarkable food!

Their service is excellent! I had the chicken pad Thai with a spice level of 5(from 1 to 5) and i loved it! The noodles and chicken were perfectly cooked. It wasn’t spicy enough for me though, so the waiter got me a side of spicy sauce which was quite yum. I also tried their Thai iced tea and it was extremely flavorful and lovely. Even the salad that they serve at the start was really nice.

five-stars awarded in its category:(casual, above-entry-level establishment, pride in output, cleanliness, attention to detail). Fantastic Thai with attentive front and back-of-the-house service. Impeccable interior. Ordered Tom Kha Gai five-star and as it was my first time here, opted for the time-honored Pad Thai as general barometer. Presentation was good and all flavors were well balanced. Evidence of pride in dishes. It’s the only Thai restaurant I know of in Gainesville, but I won’t bother seeking others out — this one’s a winner.
