As a former new yorker there are days I’d kill for a cheesy slice of pizza I can fold and watch the hot grease drip down on wax paper. Pizzavito in no way measures up to that fantasy but while hot, sometimes I can convince myself that I’m back in New York. It’s like a 14 year old masturbating to Jessica alba, you only really believe the fantasy for a few seconds, but you want to believe it badly.

the service here was good and the pizza came out very quickly, but it was a little soggy in the middle for a cheese pizza. the pizza is better than most major chains but there’s better in gainesville.

If nothing else is open, this is not a bad choice then. I was not a big fan of their pizza sauce.

Pizza Vito would tie with I Love NY Pizza as the closest to real NY pizza in Gainesville. Don’t get me wrong — it is not ATALL true NY pizza, nor does the store resemble a NY/NJ pizza parlor. But unless you are headed up north, this would be the place to go. Be careful when ordering a whole pie. The«large» pie is small at best(will not feed 2 hungry people… a large pie should feed 4). Individual slices are 2 – 3 times the size of a slice from a «large» pizza. Skip on the«Take-and-Bake» pizzas as well. Lastly, you never know how the pizza will be cooked. Sometimes the crust is good, but most times it is either burnt or way too crispy. True NY pizza has a «thin» but soft crust that you can enjoy eating… most of the time Vito’s crust ends up thrown out with the box.

Defiantly not a bad pizza place. The thin, crispy crust is delicious and very new york but as others have said, the ingredients are meh. Its clearly a chain store that doesn’t put ‘love’ in their pizza. Don’t get me wrong, everything was palatable, a wonderful selection of toppings, but the cheese and the sauce are typical of a thousand other chains. The staff was helpful, if aloof and involved in the basketball game playing on the two big LCDs above the store entrance. I’ve given the place a visit twice before rating it, in order to make sure that I was definite in my opinion. This may be nit picking, but even the cups for the self serve drinks were small causing frequent trips to refill. Of course, I could use a little less soda and a little more exercise but its still annoying nonetheless. If you want the best pizza in Gainesville, though not«new york style,» hit up Satchels.

Fancy Oven + Thin Crust. that about sums it up. Ingredients are sub par, taste is bland as physically possible. Imagine 5-Star with slightly less flavor but in a thin NY Style crust.

I was on this side of town today and I had to stop in and try this place out. It looks like they have a drive thru, but thats actually dunkin donuts on the other side of the same building. The inside was pretty small, but they were packed full of people. It could be due to their convenient location on chain restaurant row, or it could be the food. I ordered 2 cheese slices, the best way to determine a good pizza place in my opinion is a good cheese slice. Theres nothing like taking that first bite of a slice of pizza from a place you have never tried before, and I was not disappointed at all. It really was reminiscent of pizza from a parlor in new york or new jersey. There was just something about it and I cannot wait to go back and try something else.

It is shameful that it took a chain to show Gainesville how a pizzeria(not just a restaurant that serves pizza) is set-up and all the more shameful since this is one of a few places that does not use a wire mesh grate to cook their pies. Of course this pizzeria has all the caveats associated with chains(canned sauce(high acidity), prepackaged ingredients, etc); but the end product is actually not bad and their dough is… drum roll… surprisingly good! Schooled by a chain– only in Gainesville.
